- This #VeteranSpotlight I am extremely honored to speak with and interview Vietnam Veteran David C. Hooper. He is not only an exceptional human being who inspires me every time I see him through his acts of service but is also a Purple Heart Recipient. In this video we discuss what the Purple Heart means and how he earned this Medal. The sacrifices that are given to secure the Freedoms that we enjoy today are bought with a price. We also discuss David Hooper's involvement with Riverside National Cemetery and the "Unclaimed Veterans" service given by the Semper Fi 1 team of Volunteers. The ability to overcome the complexities of War and continue to serve is a strength that David Hooper has shown. Thank you for your continued service!
Veteran David C. Hooper served in Vietnam as a Navy Corpsman. A Corpsman is an enlisted Medical Specialist of the US Navy who may also serve in the US Marine Corps unit. David Hooper was a Field Medic serving in Vietnam along side the Marines providing care to those injured during battle.
What is the Purple Heart?
The Purple Heart is a distinguished military decoration awarded in the name of the President to those who have been wounded or killed while serving in the U.S armed forces.
The Unclaimed Veteran service is provided by Semper Fi Team 1 every third Wednesday of the month at Riverside National Cemetery. The service is held over at Committal "G" near the Medal of Honor Memorial and is open to the Public. The ceremony starts at 9am sharp and those who come can see and experience what full honors is and how they are performed. Those who attend will see the Rifle Team, TAPS being played on the Bugle and witness the folding of our Nations Colors. The names of Veterans, who have no family to receive or witness these honors, will be read aloud along with the sound of the Bell. Please join us as we honor our Veterans.

That is a Doc for you. As long as they live, he and his buddies won’t leave anyone behind. Respect from Brazil from an old former BAF airman.
