The original Elementum is what got me into non-gas station knives. I have the bronze variant of this WE version and it feels like the “final form” of that. I feel like the price is acceptable, but I think it’s ultimately going to depend on how you feel about the design. The people that don’t like the design or just hate popular things are going to want this to be $100 even though that doesn’t make any sense. The people that like it would probably pay $225+ for this if that was the price.
I have the bronze one as well and love it. I for sure would've paid $225 for it
I have a blue and did a satin blade swap from the silver; such an awesome knife and love the combo
Not only that, I bought the silver one bnib for 105 off fb/ did the swap and bidding on the silver and stonewashed went for almost 140
I love everything about it except the size. I wish it were a tad bigger like the button lock
I have the blue one. I love it. Definitely worth the price tag. The elementum is a great knife and to have a more premium version. Its so simple, but it works well.
My new Begleiter XL is the Bomb! Everything I wanted.
Wish kizer would make a Lan XL button lock!
The allure of the Civivi Elementum was that it was a generally good budget knife that cut well, carried well, and didn't break the bank. The We version just seems so vanilla. It's good, but really nothing special. It's effectively the Toyota Corolla of pocket knives - reliable and a good value, but ultimately boring.
I rebuke you. The knife is great.
Cool story bro
I'd call it simple. In a positive way.
A Lexus is a fancy Toyota
I’d have bought the WE one if it was the 3.5” button-lock version of the Elementum.
I have the Bronze variant. I love the size and lines of the elementum but the titanium handles, and them being well chamfered, makes this feel very solid and stronger than the civivi but also, imo, way more comfortable. And that milled titanium clip they made for the civivi elementum and a bunch of other knives actually fits the we elementum. You have to use the original screws but it works and it takes it to another new level of comfortable and awesome.
I like how solid this version feels, and I prefer the flat grind. To me this is good value, as you said some milling on the scales would have been nice but the overall fit and finish met my expectations.
(typing at 5:12) the WE version is Flat ground to the Civivi version is hollow ground.
Love my Cogent. Waiting on the elementum button lock flipper.
I like how it’s thinner, but Civivi has a version of the button-lock in Titanium with 20CV 3.5” blade for same price. You probably can find them used for $120-$150 even.
3” is to small a blade unless the law in your area forces you into it. In that case, this one is perfect cause it’s 2.9” no confusion, you’d never have an issue with it being a hit over 3” like many are 👍
Can you review the QSP Penguin titanium with S35VN for $99. I think after reviewing that one any of the “premium” elementum variants don’t make sense. Don’t get me wrong I have a regular elementum and I love it it’s what got me started with knives.
I added titanium scales and pocket clip to my elementum and it was $130 including the original knife. I still might get this one too.
I have the Civivi Elementum in the s35vn version with Flytanium scales. All told about $150. I don't see any reason to upgrade at this point
The Elementum is a great design. I think it will go down as one of the best of its time.
I've got the damscus/gold cf elementum, I find that the extra pop of that one helps make the spectacularly utilitarian (albeit a little......bland) design a little more special feeling. For that reason I agree that the WE one could have used a little something extra, especially since I know flytanium has some scales for the civivi already to make it ti.
I've got the copper version myself. Was thinking of picking up the gold and silver ones now that I've had it a while. You happy with the scales on yours? I was impressed with civivis damascus too. Definitely took a knife I thought was bland and didn't have interest in getting, into a little slice of something classy.
@@joeisabella6811 I'm super pleased with it. I haven't used it enough to really test the damascus, but others have and it say performs pretty well. The scales are sweet, and imo give it that flair it needs. A friend has the silver cf imperium, so either is definitely a cool option
Sweet. I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger on the og Elementum. I got enough D2 lol. And no 20cv in the collection until now lol
This version looks pretty slick. The elementum is a bit too short to be comfortable for me though.
Sorry I just can't see the almost 200 dollar price tag on a Chinese made knife that isn't anything special, titanium and 20cv aside.
Agreed, if I’m gonna pay $200 for a knife it’s gonna be American made. I can get an American made Spyderco, Benchmade, demko, or really any manufacturer for the same price.
I am thinking of selling my 2 civivi elementums to get the grey titanium WE elementum. I just wish that the WE one had a light stonewashed finish. Honestly, I would be fine with the one civivi elementum with the marble carbon fiber scales but I wish the liners were titanium.
I’m getting ready to buy one. I need an edc knife that won’t rust or corrode because I ride a bike to work and I sweat my ass off during the summer and it rains a lot during winter. My other knife is starting to patina on only one of the brass scales on my bugout and it looks kind of goofy.
I have both but I do like the W.E. one more it's very nice
It is or was only a matter of time before they jumped onto that little money maker but fair play o a knife fromWE that’s a fine price. I though they would be hitting us for at least the 200-230 mark 😳 have a beautiful day M _C stay safe and healthy brother😘👍
It irks me a little that they didn't make the the lanyard hole flush. I get it being inset like that on the liner lock version (even though I don't like it there either), but it doesn't need to be that way on the ti framelock version.
Elementum..good knife .. definitely within reason..😊... definitely premium 💯💪
Great analysis. Both are good knives, but the Ti version needs something to show why its much more expensive.
@Adam Korzeniowski its tough because the whole point is a high spec elementum (which contradicts the reason why so many people love the elementum, it being a great budget knife). like they even milled the lanyard loop area out to make it more similar
dunno what they couldve done to differentiate while staying true to the original design other than maybe a milled pocket clip/thumbstud
Can’t wait for We malice button lock in titanium.
Simple with nice lines, I like it 👍👍
Maybe the Elementum is $175 because WE did not do all of the things you suggested?
The Civivi Elementum in S35VN with Flytanium scales at $145 is the prettiest version to me and more premium than the WE version?
@Adam Korzeniowski Flytanium finally got the Elementum scales back in stock.
Really like my elementum in S 35v
I might get the blue handle stonewash blade
I think it is a very solid offering, but I find myself a bit bored of the election. Would have been awesome if they made it a integrated liner lock similar to the Goccia.
I bought one of those but I’m returning it ASAP because the action sucks ass, I’ve never had a knife fail opening so many times. I don’t know why it sucks, I took it apart and it looks almost exactly like ZT 0450 on the inside but the action on the ZT works every time.
I love my Civivi Elementum gonna have 2 upgrade!
Another knife to make me wonder why WE charges so much for Damascus. Hakkapella is expensive stuff, but it isn't THAT much.
When I can get a cold steel Ad10 or SR1 in S35vn for near $110 on Amazon…and yes…they are legit…just can’t justify a regular flipper for $170
Love mine!
Thats a nice looking knife
hi, is the detent ball made of ceramic?
Maybe I'm an entitled prick, but double bird for any company charging over $150 for a knife and not giving us a sculpted clip. 🖕🖕
That's not to say I won't purchase it, hell I've purchased several ZT's for over $200 and their clip situation is a dumpster fire. But it still pisses me off.
I have a couple WE Practics. They're liner locks but $145-$160 with M390. One is copper scaled with black stonewash blade and the cheaper one is G10. So similar to this, about a quarter inch more blade I guess? Hollow ground, too. I've never bought an Elementum because they seemed redundant with the Practic, and now there are these. I've go to say I like the pocket clips on these better than the milled ones on my Practics.
Would you choose this or the spyderco watu ?
Cowabunga Ti Elementum.!
I love the Elementum. just a simple design, but it works so well. ^w^
is the we knife worth 125 more than the civivi ? im not convinced
It would have been better if the clip was countersunk with flat screw :(
i love how he has so many knives he forgots what he has 😂
It's an Elementum... what's not to like, right? How about the dumb lanyard hole??? I can't believe they reworked the handle but they left that lanyard hole. This could have been the perfect version of the Elementum if they changed it to a post instead of a hole.
Agreed, the button lock versions handle looks so much more sleek
I can absolutely understand $176 for this one, but the Damascus version is $540…WTF?
Yeah, it's a lot. On the other hand it's not WE's in house VG10 damascus it's Damasteel, a imported Swedish damascus made from two different powder metallurgy steels.
This review doesn’t have less details then others from MC, just less rambling..
Ah, a "reviewer reviewer". Good deal 👍
I rate this review of the review 1 out of 5.
This or spyderco watu ??
So let me get this straight. Civivi does a premium elementum right?! 👈....and WE does a premium elementum also correct?! 👉......I'll have a Coke! ☝🤣
