I've been looking for this for a long time and it's so great so I thought I should share it with people :)
someone should make a petition to rename this theatre to the Jonathan Larson Theatre
I cried for this. The harmony and true friendship between colleagues is one of the nicest things about this work. There is no spectacle more exciting than this, although I've never seen live, touched me deeply and gave me a lot. I'll always love Rent.

watching these, i am so sad that i was way too young to be apart of this community when it was created. I've loved this musical, though, since i was 12. It was the first musical i ever listened to and watched, and it was the musical that developed my love for the arts, theatre and singing. 7 years later this show seriously is still everything to me.
R.I.P. Jonathan and Life Cafe--I wish I could've experienced both of you in my life before you went away.
Ok so every now and then i come back here and watch this. i always make it through parts 1,2 and 3, but by the time it gets to part 4, i break down in tears. Rent is everything to me.

I've seen RENT three times in Sydney, which is where I live, including the final performance there, once in London, once on Broadway, and I've watched the final performance and movie DVDs countless times.
I've almost worn out the two CDs I own - the original and movie casts.
It's 2017 and I'm still a RENThead.
That's a love affair that's lasted over 20 years and is still going strong.
Argy I’ve seen it on Broadway a few times and in LA with Neal Patrick Harris as Mark. I know what you mean. This show touched me and opened my mind like no other.

seeing Jesse and Wilson backstage towards the end brought on the tears for me. I just.. I will bring this back on Broadway one day soon. Rent is a legacy that deserves to live on forever.
What always gets me when I watch this is when the last Benny mentions about making Jonathan proud, and then they show the younger girl crying while Jon's parents just walk past. (Also seeing them rip apart the stage and show backstage/rent wall with seasons of love becoming more faint)
This makes so sad every time. Rent was actually the musical that got me into loving musicals. I so wish that I saw this on Broadway!!!! Nothing will ever be like rent to me nothing!!!!

Ok so at like 8:27 ish that face that the guy who plays mark makes is basically everyone's face after A: closing a show and B: after seeing rent
Seeing the RENT light go out made my heart break all over again...
i discovered this musical only a few years ago (im 24). still in 2020 this story is lifechanging.
Though the stage is empty and our hearts may feel empty, RENT will always live on because it is a true celebration as life, and if we live as passionately and with love as our beloved characters, RENT will live on simply because we are LIVING.
sometimes i wonder if johnathan had lived to see his show come to life how he would have felt, or if it wouldn't be as big as it was... but then you see the faces of the performers and can't imagine life without rent, it is one of the best ways to celebrate life and it has changed mine for the better. So i thank you Johnathan Larson for being the genius you were and creating the most moving piece of art i have ever seen

I choked up when they showed the original cast singing along backstage during the finale. I was a sobbing mess when Mark's actor broke. What a beautiful gathering of talent.
I performed 6 characters (including Benny) of this play in community theater,,,,,,,,, and this STILL brings a tear to my eye.

this show will never die, now that the performing rights have been released... oh my goodness I am ever thankful that i will be a part of such a wonderful show.

i cried rivers about part 4, it´s so beautifull and RENT is so DAMN inspiring. helped me to get trough the bad moments and the good. it will always be in my heart and mind.

This is my absolute favorite Broadway play ever. It's changed my life. The cast of the final.performance was the best. Thank You Jonathan Larson for giving us such an amazing gift and I hope you see how loved you and your work are up there in heaven. R.I.P I will never forget Rent.

when adam cried at the end i repeated that so much so touching he is soo cute just wanted to give him a massive hug . LONG LIVE RENT!

Marcus Paul James. He sang "It's good to see you again" on a Scott Alan album which you should look up if you like theatrical ballads. Beautiful.
I was just in this show and I felt the exact same feelings on closing night. This show changes people.
Who did you play?
I played basically every bit part that was not a lead. I had like 17 costume changes, haha. I came in late so I didn't get a chance to actually audition.
This show HAS to come back.
I'm breaking down right now. Rent means so much to me. It taught me so much about life and I can't even explain how amazing it is.
when it has the images of the theatre and the cast singing seasons of love it shows there voices will always remain ahhhh im sobbing
work bloody hard like the rest of us who are trying to get there and reach the heights like these people, if you wanna get there then in the next 6 years train and work hard and you will get there
and i do agree its sad and im crying at it to be honest but at the same time its all so happy that it just makes me smile i just love this show with a passion =) x

i had the honor to play roger two years ago.. i first watched this video on the day of our last Show.. i cried so hard after our last act. this video still get's me. thank you Jonathan Larson!
It's 2018 and this makes me cry, still.
This is so sad for me, because I was in the 15th row, I think on the 6th to last show. I cried so hard. It better come back on broadway, there's no other show that touches you so much, because it's all true. "There's only us, There's only this Forget regret, Or life is yours to miss." If I had the choice to see this again, heck yes I would!!!

Rent started its Broadway run on January 25, 1996, 2 weeks after I was born. I am now 14 and Rent is by far my favorite musical ever. Jonathan Larson's message is so powerful and i hope they bring it back in the near future.
I believe that is Jonathan Larson was still alive this would be the longest running Broadway ,show I believe it would end when the story ends in real life when AIDS ends it's a story that has to be told
the first time a saw Rent, the movie, was during a car trip and it was so hard not to start crying

I'm 14 now, and when I was 13 I have never heard of Rent, and now... Now, I think it's the most beautiful musical/movie I've ever seen!

So sad so compelling so moving....soo powerful! My God! Such a blessing. GOD I LOVE RENT! (thank goodness for the touring company i suppose)...Thank you Jonathan Larson! Here's looking forward to a possible revival of it on Broadway in the (hopefully near) FUTURE! 25th Anniversary? maybe?

Seeing adam cantor break into tears really got to me for some reason
I can't watch a performance knowing that it will be the last time anyone on stage will be performing this together. I cry everytime.

i gew up with rent it opened on my birthday....and i saw the rent movie preview but couldnt watch it because i was too young.....i really expect a revival in the next 20 or 30 years...you never know

That girl sitting on the floor crying after the show is over (and yes, notiachaos, it is over for good on Broadway- the only Maureens we'll see after this will be in high school or community theatre productions)...that girl is me. I mean, she isn't actually ME, but she is what I feel when I watch this. So powerful...
His 'official' role is 'the pastor' if that means anything to you. He throws Collins out of the building before 'What you own'.

+mariana morales I went and saw a rendition of Rent today. It was at my local community theatre. The cast was so amazing and I cried throughout the entire second act and met them afterwards and I hugged all of them and almost cried while hugging Angel. I told them that Jonathan would've been proud too.
thanks for that, because I just actually saw the movie and i didnt know the other casts until I watched full broadway videos of rent here in youtube and live offbroadway last week... wow he's good..

it's ok guys...rent will be back...the first broadway run has come and gone but there's little doubting that it will return...the suits wanna make $, the show didn't end because of poor sales but most importantly it's one of the most beautiful, emotionally powerful and important shows in broadway history...given all those things, how could it not be back?
