Thanks for this tutorial. One thing to note for other users is if you don't dimension each of your circle sketches - independent of each other -, constraint conflicts do arise in the 3d sketch portion, when making the splines tangent. Just as in this video, you need to manually dimension each circle to 100 mm, not concentric with the one below. Thanks again, very useful.
Fascinating! I think you're the only channel with a video on how to make a dynamic spring that has multiple pitches in the spring. Is there any way to have the spring length naturally change while it is mated to a moving part within an assembly?
I cannot get the command tangent at 5:57 when the spline and the helix would be on the tangent relationship. I'm using Solidworks 2012. Is it depending on the version of Solidworks? Can you let me know the version of solidworks which this video is taken in?
The fit spline command does'nt work for me. It shows an error "The sketch has not been updated because solving it would result in invalid goemetry(such as a zero length line) Consider: Deleting the invalid geometry. Changing relations or dimensions to eliminate the invalid geometry ". Please help
HI :D Can you help me with an issue I´m having? Whwn I make the design table with 200 at neutral and 250 at pull and try to pull de spring with double click at the configuration manager>pull an error appears telling me that the main splain (the comlete spring one) is having a conflict and the pice disapear. I hope I´m explaining my self :) and again THANKS A LOT!!!
Yes. Instead of doing a design table, do your configurations manually: on the Configurations tab, rename "default" to "Neutral". Right-click where it says "Part Configuration(s)" and select "Add Configurations". Name the new one "Pull". Double click on Pull to make it the active configuration. Go back and edit the two dimension in the model, the plane separation and the spring length. Before setting in the dimensions click on the little arrow to the right of the dimension and select "This Configuarion". Now you have one configuration with one dimension, one with another, no excel design table needed. I only use a design table if I have more than 3 or 4 configurations to enter.

Motion is coupled with Design table excellent idea. I have learned a new concept. Thank you very much.
Design table for changing spring lenght os a great idea.
Hi HyunJun Jo, this video was done in SolidWorks 2014. But it should also work with 2012. did you have any issue with the first tangent at 3:00?

This demo is controlled simulation. How can I do a real life simulation of the compression of that spring under a known load?
how about an extension spring, could you please show me how to extend or animate it.
I only see options for constructions if I select the CTRL+ second spline & helix, why ?

I am having the same problem. Anyone to help ?
the spline thing is not working i am not able to add tangent properties with arc and helix
same, wich version of solids are u using?

can i do this without having to install the hateful creation that is microsoft office
