    Great video thank you for this. I managed to install Win11 according to this instruction on a Esxi 6.7 U2 . However - Microsoft seem to changed that you have to Create an account even if you choose Windows 11 Pro. I was forced to create an Outlook account and never saw the "offline" option - so I just created a test account and it worked just fine!

    • @PE4Doers
      @PE4Doers  Год назад

      Yes, they hid that option. It's still there, but you have pick one of the other options to see it appear.

    During the initial power up, when I send the escape key, I get a Boot Manager screen, not the windows logo like you show. ESXI Version 7.0.1

    • @PE4Doers
      @PE4Doers  Год назад

      That is likely due to the version of Windows-11 or ESXi you are using. Also, make sure you hit Enter at the early prompts, since they can lead to confusion.

    Thanks. This worked. I've read about adding TPM in hardware, but didn't see it available. I'm on version 8.0 of ESXI as well so I'm would think the latest version would handle Windows 11. Do you know if this will happen on Server 21

    • @PE4Doers
      @PE4Doers  11 месяцев назад

      I'm afraid I have not tired loading that version of ESXi, so I apologize for not being of any help.

  • @Practical-IT

    Very interesting that you have to use the workaround for Win11 on VMWare. I would have expected a virtual TPM option to be available.
    After seeing this, I guess it's just one more reason to stick with Proxmox VE.
    I would expect by the end of 2022 ESXi will likely have this option. I have heard that Virtualbox will get a virtual TPM in the next version as well.

    • @dancetracks12345
      @dancetracks12345 2 года назад

      I think you can add a virtual TPM in vCenter server, but not from ESXi. I've read articles about it, but I don't want to setup vCenter or buy licensing just to try it out (although you still have the eval time to try it). In VMware player you can add a line to the VMX file and then a virtual TPM device will show up for you to install Windows 11.

    • @PE4Doers
      @PE4Doers  2 года назад

      Jeremy, yes I was somewhat surprised myself, but since they gave out 'Free Licenses', I suspect having a Virtual TPM is not a priority at this time. We will need to see what they put out with the next version.
      Also, I believe during my Live Stream I mentioned how I saw videos where Windows 11 was loaded without a hick-up on ESXi. I went back and re-watched a couple of them, and it seems like they were install 'Enterprise' flavors of Windows 11, where not having a TPM seems to be fine.

      I think you can do the bypass from the CLI without using the reg edit.

  • @ronwatkins5775

    Excellent video. Will Win11 run without a license key or do you have to get one from a 3rd party source? If it does run without the key, what are you missing out on if you don't have one?

    • @PE4Doers
      @PE4Doers  Год назад

      It will run for all normal uses, however you will have a water-mark in the lower right-hand corner of the screen and you will not be able to establish custom profiles.

      I will be courteous her. To explain a process as complicated as this one, I cannot use a Short. I know everyone these days days seem to solve a problem in 60-secs, however that is NOT reality. Creating a VM is not trivial, and I would be doing a disservice to my viewers to try and squeeze something like that into a ridiculous time-line.
