the triggers are not the problem. its the weird parts where the video doesn't match to the audio like when he hits the snare but theres no snare sound.
@@gabemercedes3170 came here to say this. The aggressive 127 velocity triggering is questionable, but what’s even more egregious is hearing hits that are not being played in the video.

I am fine with sampled drums if it suits the music, but as far as heavy music goes, I feel like it should have a raw power to it. That's often missing if the drums are triggered. Electronic pads can be cool as a compliment to the real drum sound in heavy music, like with Tool or Night Verses. But, the main beats usually sound way better with a real drum sound.
💯 agree. It just doesn’t have any feeling and life to it once it’s just snapped to the grid full velocity notes straight through. And in my opinion I don’t even think we are hearing what he’s playing. I have a feeling it was all just inserted into a midi map in a DAW and then he just made it look like he played it.
I don’t really understand people defending this saying it’s triggers. That would just make the snare stand out more, no? Yet sometimes I don’t hear it when he’s visually playing it?
@@TheGhostNotePodcast google ead 10. Theres nothing wrong with triggers. I don't know why everyone whos not into metal has to call it childish. Maybe you are into metal. I dont know. People in the comments were like “he plays so fast and clean” “he makes el Estepario looks like Lars ulrich” 😂😂 it’s just goofy and unnecessary in my opinion
When you have speed, you loose power. Especially when you wanna go as fast as possible. So maybe he's using triggers on his acoustic drums and digital samples on a module because he plays so fast that we cannot hear enough only with the acoustic drum... ?
sometimes Ill do five takes in a row doing a cover, but my phone video runs out on take four, so I have to use the take four video on my take five sound hahaha, then you get the odd bits where it looks like im not hitting a cymbal, the snare or the kick :) ....and all my covers are on a Roland e kit and using Superior Drummer 3 on my Mac for the kit sounds.
Triggers are an amplification divice they don't make you play fast. If you are calling him out for sample replacing then yes he is. But "triggers are cheating" is a tired, lazy argument. Mike Caputo and Craig reynolds called out drummers like him for sample replacing.
3:31 yes, I have to say it is impressive to someone. But not kids, guitarists. You see, when guitarists write drum parts, this is how they want the sound like 😂
I think triggers are a useful tool for a specific sound that helps the user with durability, which is kind of like cheating in my eyes - its giving you extra abilities in a way with consistency and taking dynamics out the picture which i personally think breeds laziness.
