As a British Person I have read and seen a fair bit about Brendan Hughes and although I don`t condone what went on over there, from both sides, I think that he is someone who believes passionately in his fellow Irishmen and is a Man of principle and not a Bigoted sectarian. My respect to the Man. RIP.

It must also be remembered that NI was settled with Anglo-Scot protestants after 1690. The native Irish landowners were thrown out, their tenants thrown out. There was great prejudice against Catholics by the English, and it played out that in Brendan's time, Catholics could not find jobs, were denied sufficient housing, could not vote.

Quiet like the man, shame he had to go through all the troubles, I blame the political issues mainly, if born in a different Country in different circumstances he could have had a very different life. Saying that if he was convicted of terrorism in say America he could have faced the death penalty.

If you paid money to study Irish history at the university of South Dakota I would advise you to get your money back..this video is the most amateur attempt at the complex history of my country that I have ever seen, so much so that I doubt the credentials of this channel, or indeed this University. If this is the best attempt at the history of the complexity of the 30 years of the Troubles of Northern Ireland then shame on you..this is Trump University standard..shame on you.
