The problem is some of the food grade plastic will be mentioned as microwave compatible, where they place the plastic item inside the micro oven to heat the food. this is really were problem arises, you should have added that part also.

I'm from the plastic manufacturing industry. Most manufacturers use Regrinded materials which are totally unsafe. Also for the color, pigment (masterbatch) will be used which mostly may not be food grade compatible. The heat resistance depends on thickness which will be mentioned in the TDS and certificates like UL.
