  • A faulty photoresistor will prevent the Solar Lawn Lights from turning itself off during the daytime. This will constantly drain the battery and it will not charge properly. The solar light will be dim or dark at night. Most people change the battery - as I did - but that's not the real problem. A pack of 10 or 20 Light Dependent Resistors - or Photoresistors is about $1 on Ebay. This fix cost me 10 cents in parts and took about 30 minutes per light.
These are Westinghouse brand stainless steel light purchased a few years back. This fix should work on most brands of lights - Ironically I think the UV from the Sunlight is a factor in destroying the photoresistor. Temperature changes, water, snow, and ice don't help the situation. Hope this helps. Ken - FTRR Also, Please Subscribe, press the LIKE button and your comments are appreciated.
