    Electric vehicles are still niche vehicles in the grand scheme of the automotive industry, which pumps out millions upon millions of cars every year. But they're gaining steam in a hurry, with companies new and old trying to stake their claim in the era of electrification while skyrocketing gas prices are driving demand for all-electric vehicles even further.
    Let's take a look at the promising electric SUVs which are yet to arrive in the US! And guess what some of these SUVs have starting prices as low as $30,000.

    Mileage range on EVs, charge time, weak charging infrastructure, and no universal charge are not a very attractive incentives to switch to EV yet. No one talks about how often this $50k plus vehicle battery will last before it requires a replacement (which is the most expensive EV component ). Most of the mileage is based on not utilizing all the vehicle packed technology (what the range will look like in a hot climate weather that requires constant cooling?)

    I have had my Honda Element since 2005, been paid off 10 years ago, with 242000 miles on it. Nothing wrong with it. There is no discussion about replacing the batteries in 5-8 years. The cost to replace the entire battery pack should be the 1st thing discussed

    Fisker should seek out a deal to build its vehicles with Toyota or perhaps Mazda even. It's going to need the cover of their credibility to gain traction. It would be worth giving up a chunk of profits to gain market share.

    The one factor that seems to be left out of people's calculations is in the safety factor of the batteries, the training fire=-fighters need, the problems created by burying the spent unrecyclable components, elements and metals of the batteries, the cost of replacing the batteries etc.

    Can they compete with a subaru off road? The most important thing for me after that and low impact/ non FF is that the back seats lies flat and it's long enough for a short person (me) to sleep in😁

    We need ev’s with a range of 500 km at a cost less than 50000$! That would make sense to me! Charging time is too long, I don’t want to wait in line and paying with my credit card. All Charging stations should be fast chargers and be used by all cars at the same cost.

      It’s not like everybody will buy an EV at once. They will take many years to phase in, and additional power generation infrastructure will be built alongside the shift in the market.
      I’ve heard this talking point so many times from conservative voters who think *poof* now everybody owns and EV overnight. Wrong.

    • @beowulf555
      @beowulf555 Год назад

      30-50 years. A million miles with minimum maintenance. The only thing is battery capacity decreases over time but not like it’s going to die. A 300 mile range car will be down to 240 miles in 10 years but that’s still great. Your maintenance is tires and windshield wipers quite literally. Just gas savings and the maintenance savings compared to an ICE itself pays for the price of the cars in 10-20 years depending on the initial price.

    rt now electric cars are useless too expensive no mileage specially in winter in canada they are 20,000 dollars more expensive than gas car, you can hardly go from montreal to quebec city on one charge, useless i tell you unless you never go further than 100 miles in any direction. rt now PHEV makes sense ,electric cars , maybe after 2025 maybe better batteries chinese competition to bring price down otherwise who is going to buy them? IT TAKES 7 YEARS BEFORE YOU CAN RECUPERATE THE MONEY YOU OVERPAID FOR ELECTRIC. and everybody forget the 50% tax the goverment makes on a gallon of gas; do you realy believe the goverment will not come after electric cars for road maintenance, if so you are gullible.

    You can brag these electric cars up all you want, the truth is they have alot of set backs to themselves. The batteries catch fire, an they don't have the milage you claim in cold weather climates. If a power grid goes out how are you going to charge the batteries, you don't. I don't care what you say these electric cars are a bad idea. 👎👎👎👎👎
