- Overview of ESO's Scribing questline and a possible workaround for the script grind on alt characters
**Update-I have verified that the proposed method of farming works
the only reason why i would ever do the whole scribing questline again is for the 3 ink you get for each one completed, and that's only if i got some kinda speed build cause damn that was long.
What’s worse the scribing quest line, or the psijic order quest line. I’m one of the very few people that enjoyed the psijic order quest line because I was so new to the game. I literally went places I had never seen before and zones I’d never been to. That being said I couldn’t be bothered to do it a second time lol.
Yeah, that’s a tough one. Hats off to you for doing it as a new player.
Imho, psijic order is way worse.
I loved Psijic compared to this , I just finished it a few mins ago and was bored to tears .
@@nodders6830 well at least it's over for you now!
Yeah, the first time doing Psijic was made endurable because the writing for the Auger was good. And calling us all "meat brains" was....accurate 😂But, as you said, once was quite enough.
also worth mentioning that scripts are tradeable. Just like overland sets you can purchase them from guild trader off other players.
That’s a great point! But they ain’t cheap!
Got to agree with you ,if I tryed this on day one of being a new player their would have been no day two.Alltho as a long time player with a new low level alt I did enjoy the quests and the story line it still took me a full day to compleat it. But I did savour it and collect /steal and harvest everything I could find .
I enjoyed the story very much the first time but have no desire to repeat it any time soon. New players lack one key ingredient for this type of questing- mobility. No wayshrines, no mount leveling, no speed buffs.
@@esovault270don’t forget gold lol 😂 you gotta drop 50k per grimoire lol idk what the devs were thinking this dlc is NOT new player friendly.
God can eso gives us a new system that isn’t a ridiculously long grind. I wish i had the free time to do this stuff like I used to but I can’t now that I’m working.
I just farmed resource nodes for an hour and got six inks. I think getting those isn't going to be as much of a bottleneck when they fix boss drops. The initial quest requires a few hours to complete but I think after that you're almost all the way there. Scripts will take you some time to get and in your case where you don't have time to grind just do a few dailys each day and you'll get there.
@@esovault270 yeah scripts are my big worry it’s kinda annoying but whatever I guess that’s just MMOs at the end of the day
How do u get soul burst on an alt? I have already completed all the quests on main. And alt already completed first quest to get insides scolarium. Now the crow send me to the wing of indrik. Do I have to do it?
Buy the skill from Firandil inside the Scholarium. Don’t do the Indrik quest again.
Honestly, you only need to BUY the grimoires that apply to the toon, and that then limits the number of scripts that can be used. For example, there is a BOW grimoire that does a good flip when used, but it's BOWcentric. If you don't use a bow, or unless you emotionally NEED the flip effect (it is cool), then skip that grimoire altogether. if you focus on the grimiores that are effective on those tunes, and the scripts that you will use with it, you need a WHOLE LOT less - and that takes a whole lot less time.
That's a good point about only buying the grimoires you need. Unfortunately which grimoires are unlocked has no relationship to script drops.
@@esovault270 - All grimoires available are unlocked. More focused on the other skill lines are to come. And if you farm the three daily West Weald, the FG and SG dailiy quests, and a Cyro/BG, or Undaunted daily, you can get of the scripts a day curated and guaranteed. It just takes (maybe) two weeks to get them all.

Great video. I've completed the entire quest line for my main and the 5 minute one for a couple of Alts. All good.
My problem now is a lack of luminous ink. I've been playing this since it came out and have only succeeded in getting 2 inks from harvesting in Craglorn on an alt. Anything else I've done, regular questing, killing enemies, doing master writs, etc. has netted me Zip/0.
Any suggestions?
I gotta say I'm really confused by this because here is a new exciting system for skills and the thing you need "luminous ink" seems to be so hard to get. Yes they say it's a "rare" drop but come on, they introduce a new system yet the thing you need to create or modify these skills seems to take away from enjoying this new system. (reminds me of tales of tribute - omg).
Anyway, just venting, any suggestions would be sincerely appreciated. Happy travels. :)
I see you already spotted my other video. Gina Bruno commented in the forums as I was uploading that video and said that bosses were not dropping inks. Other drops were functioning as intended. Hopefully the boss drop rate is decent when they fix it. Otherwise we’re screwed.
@@esovault270 Ya, i haven't received any inks from downing any bosses so far. Hope it all gets adjusted or all this hype ZOS threw at the scribing system will be for not.
It sounds like it’s going to be adjusted(drops) and I’m sure they’ll fix the bosses. They’ve got to. Because I can’t listen to Ulfsild again 😭
@@esovault270 Hahahaa, ya I get that. No wonder Shalidor lost his island lol ;)
Alcast was my go to, clear and thorough. He got me out of a couple of self generated cul-de-sacs.
I don’t think Alcast plays much anymore but they do a good job keeping ESO Hub up to date.
You can knock this grind out in a little over an hour with a speed build nightblade that has perma cloak. It's so easy especially when you have a lot of wayshrines opened. I highly suggest using a max speed build nb to just avoid enemies and head straight to the target for each quest. It took me around 1.4 hrs
Nice!
Great idea!!!
That still doesn't address the alt issue unless you only make NBs
@@davidhurcombe6505 the scripts that drop have nothing to do with the class of the character doing the farming
Very helpful video. Thank you 👍
You’re welcome! And thanks for watching the channnel!
What quest is the one for my alts. I tried it on one but it seemed like the same one for my main. Sending me to get rid of wards. Is that the one my alts need to do? Great video, thanks.
Alts should only do the quest “The Second Era of Scribing”, which unlocks the Scholarium for them. It is redundant but it only takes five minutes. Your main must do the entire quest line which will unlock all five wings. Thanks for watching !
@@esovault270 Yes, I have completed the full questline with my main. I will check the name of the quest I have on my alt. Thanks for the help.
Dude my wife and I were listening to you in this video! We think you did a terrific job. Please keep going! Do more videos please! I am going to be one of your subscribers. Thanks for you efforts
Thanks for watching and for the sub! There will definitely be more content coming. ESO is pretty much all I play these days. Have been here since beta and am looking forward to another ten years!
seems to be for level 50s . Can't get the starting quest on my lower toons
I think the minimum level is 25 but don’t quote me
Would you say the grind is easier than the psijic skill line?
Heck yeah! Psijiic line was misery!
@esovault270 oh then this should be easy
What place you’re in? Would be cool to have it as a house
That’s the wing of the Indrik in the Scholarium
Honesty...yes it's a grind. Had one guldie say she *enjoyed* the "story" for this. But she has a brain tumor.
I enjoy a lot of their story telling but I can’t say that this was a highlight for me. Maybe Ulfsild polls higher with women
@@esovault270 Well, I'm not just a gumpy old man; I'm a gumpy old retired game dev. And if anyone at any of the studios I worked for brought me THIS as a story...😳 Let's just say it wasn't Orsinium. Or Murkmire. 😟 Yes, there have been good stories in ESO. In the past.
I liked Orsinium too. I find ESO stories to be enjoyable usually. I’m going to forgive the scribing story as it’s really just a glorified side quest. I just started doing the zone story yesterday and I don’t do any quests when I’m on the pts. I have to say that so far I’m really enjoying the main story.
@@esovault270 If only it were a side quest...
