Thank you very much for your tutorials, they are very helpful. I tell you that my '96 Ford Ranger started showing the check engine on the dashboard and I had it scanned and it showed the code P0500, which comes from the speedometer sensor, I had it changed and nothing, it still shows the same code. Does this gear also run the odometer? 1993 Ranger, Speedo not working, but Odometer and Trip meter work fine. Is this a problem with the actual gauge?

Did you find yours? I have a 2000 Ford Ranger and I've located the rear speed sensor but I can't find the front speed sensor.

My 99 2wd Ranger does not have this on trans, but has a sensor with two wires that look different (shorter and flat end base) located on the rear axle gear box.
AutoZone sold me one like this so I’m still trying to locate it.

Can you just leave Speedo cable disconnected without issue other than no speedometer?

In no mechanic but in Manuals I’ve left them disconnected with no affect to operation at all but… I believe in automatics it plays a role in telling the transmission to switch gears so I wouldn’t go that route for autos
