    The future generations of this product is going to be amazing if they keep at it. If done right it will be a better overall alternative than the efoils (way lighter, way cheaper and you can actually pump the board)
    I hope you send your inputs to the FoilDrive team to suit the wake/pumping madmen.

      I'm in Australia and I just bought one... Foil drive plus...hopefully in the next few weeks I'll be using it for efoil, for catching waves SUPing and for getting on the foil quicker while wing dinging (just learning) 😊 Never thought about trying to jump on everyone's boat wake as they drive past though...they'll be spinning out 🛥️⛴️ 😊

    Another great video of yours that I really enjoyed watching (multiple times). I was hanging out for this one because I bought a Foil Drive and it should be arriving this week or next. I will have a setup very similar to yours on a Naish Hover inflatable. I'm also getting a longer cable and plan to strap the box on the nose so that I can mount the board from the back as I do my Fliteboard. I see that you tried a few ways to run the cable down the side to the motor. I'd like to know what you ended up with in the end. I'm not sure if you went with along the rail or beside the deck grip. I'd be interested in your thoughts on the final position for running the cable. It looks like at times you used pvc tape and used the cable channels at other times. I'm planning to try a few variations with mine, including using a second small electric motor (ePropulsion Vaquita) mounted to the stabilizer for continuous trust. I'm hoping to maintain prolonged flight with this configuration for 70 minutes, we'll see.

    • @WakeThief
      @WakeThief  3 года назад +1

      Alongside the board worked best. PVC tape is key else you'll have tape residue to clean off after you remove it. Please stay in touch. I'd love to hear how your experience goes. Wakethief@icloud.com

    • @dong8822
      @dong8822 3 года назад

      Paul, how much is the vaquita? Will the remote work with the vaquita that far underwater? Have you thought about how much push you'll get from the vaquita mounted on the rear foil? They indicate that you can run the vaquita at full throttle for 70 minutes. That sounds fantastic. Please respond as I'm about to buy a foil Drive assist and want to know how your experiment works out.

      @@dong8822 Hi Don, The ePropulsion Vaquita is $1,000 AUD for the motor, wrist controler and battery. The battery has the bluetooth receiver and is mounted on top of the board so it is not under water. We have had a lot of fun with this little motor for over a year now but it is underpowered for foiling. It is great for 6 to 8 kph riding around instead of paddling and yes it will run for 70 min on full trottle. I have mounted this motor along with the Foil Drive but it really just slows it down because of the extra drag so I don't try to foil with it in any configuration anymore. We often still use it to just cruise around while the other person is foiling and we are waiting for our turn. On the other hand with just the Foil Drive mounted and a lighter rider (60kg) we have been efoiling with a lot of different configurations. Just today we were foiling with a 5'7" Naish Hover carbon 95L with a 55cm mast, 450 stab, and 3 different wings (Naish Jet 2000, 1650 & 1250) all worked to get onto the foil. The 1250 worked just barely and the 2000 performed the best even when the wind and chop picked up. The Foil Drive has also worked as an efoil with 6'7" Naish Hover inflatable 170L, 5'7" Naish Hover inflatable 135L and 6'6" Naish Hover carbon 140L boards with bigger wings Naish Jet 2450, HA 2140 and they all worked. But understand that it was not designed to be an e-foil and not designed to be run continuously on full trottle. So we don't. We find with our wind and current it works best one way and we taxi back at 40% or so the other way. This give the battery and controller a periodic rest. I'm 97kg and need to paddle or wing or some swell to get enough extra push to get me up on foil with the Foil Drive. I can highly recommend the Foil Drive as we have done a lot of testing and I also own a Fliteboard. Just understand what the limitations of the product are based on what it was designed to do and the weight of the rider and the setup and the conditions and it will be a lot of fun.

    Thanks for all the brilliant and inspiring content and reviews. Wanted to ask your advice in that I've been offered this same Foil Drive assist (original pre-assist plus model) and was wondering if you still think it's a worthwhile buy for learning. I'm 82kg, 47yrs old and not super fit but thinking this might get me more time on foil quickly. Am I mad considering this? It's over £2000 less than a new assist plus. Any advice very gratefully received. thanks again for the fantastic content.

      @@WakeThief Fliteboard is an amazing piece of technology, very well made. I'm only a half dozen rides into it but I'd say the downside is it's a lot of weight under foot, plus there's something of a "shooting fish in a barrel" feeling versus the sense of accomplishment that comes with learning to wingfoil or prone pumping on a sinker board (which I'm yet to try). OK, so FoliDrive is a cheat : ) but if as your video shows there's still plenty of skill involved. I'm also using as a second low cost "efoil" taking my daughter out, letting her zip zap around on the Flite while I get some exercise paddling my 137L Hyperfoil. The foildrive boost makes for a much more satisfying paddle experience. I gave it a go in the surf last weekend but in less than ideal conditions. Much still to learn!
