All these old authors were so long winded. Guy goes on for half an hour for a point that can be made in 5 minutes.
Does God not say dont waste your words like the pharisees do?

Jesus did say not to make long prayers to be seen of men. Meaning, the Pharisees prayed simply to be heard. However, Jesus taught people for three days straight on at least one occasion. The apostle Paul preached so long into the night that one guy fell asleep and fell out the window. So long teachings must be good, if the Lord Jesus' example means anything.

@@jeremiahzeisetNo, Jesus never wasted his words and repetitions are grievous. Words become idle after a point and God never lets any word be idle. Don't make excuses for why people don't get to their point but instead make you sit there thinking "just get to the point."
It's not just long prayers. It's an example. Vain repetitions. They think they will be heard for their many words. When Christ speaks, he says few words. Go and sin no more. He doesn't sit there for 3 hours telling this woman to not sin. Its simple, quick and she understands it. If he continued speaking and saying nothing new, he would be like this author and the pharisees.
I do like some of the points of this author but there's a reason this audiobook is 12 hours when most are 4. He is repeating himself to make his book longer and it is absolutely not needed and in places even hurts his message. Why give 30 examples of something when 3 or 4 will do? I am glad people today do not waste as many words. Using excessive repetition is also a boastful thing. Men think they are wise the longer they speak enjoying the sound of their voice.
There are many times while listening that it goes on for so long I forget what he is talking about because he just rambles, his words meaning very little.

I'm sure you're right, that Jesus didn't waste words even if he did speak for long periods of time. That said, this particular title is made up of a bunch of short chapters. Are you sure it is fair to say that the author is long-winded? And entire chapter under 10 minutes and he is said to be long-winded?

@@jeremiahzeiset So many parts have the author repeat himself without saying anything new to the point where I forget what he is talking about. I remember one part where he says something and then drags on for 5 minutes naming similarities. It gets very annoying.
I understood where he was going after 2 or 3 similarities but he kept going coming up with new ones till 10 or more. Very long winded indeed.
I will still continue it(at the 4 hour mark currently) but it lessons my desire to hear him when I know every point he makes will be prolonged further than it needs to be.

      @@FleshToDustI understand. Valid point.
