I cannot believe that #5 on Rutgers received the ball at mid court from his teammate that was trapped in the corner with 20 seconds to go and just turn around and dribble across the line. Instead he passed the ball back to a teammate at Minnesota’s foul line and that teammate made an errant pass into the hands of the Minnesota player who made a 3 point basket.
I was going to say the same thing! Made NO sense!
One of the dumbest things I have ever seen a player do. Just unreal. There are 4 defenders up court, he turns down court and he's got 1 on 1 to score or get fouled and go to the line, but no let's pass it back where 4 defenders are.

I thought the same thing. He may not be a point guard and he may not traditionally bring the ball up court, but under these circumstances, just get the ball up court and let your teammates quickly come up and help you out after getting the ball across the half court line. He had the perfect opportunity to do bring the ball up to their end of the court. That was so painful to watch!

Listen man I get that this conference is a grind and Rutgers had a big injury during this poor run of form, but if you're up by 10 with a minute or less to go against a 7 win team this point in the season, this cannot happen. You simply cannot do that.

hey props to minnesota. they played amazing at the end. Rutgers still makes it into the tournament, because that road win at #1 pursue was the best possible win you could get for a march madness resume. And Minnesota needed this. This was their March Madness. Big 10 basketball is the best basketball in the entire league. Any of our teams would be at the top of any other conference. Including Minnesota.

Rutgers had a timeout they could have used one to settle down to avoid this meltdown. Also why the hell would you pass the ball back when you have it near half court.
Notice how they also didn’t dribble either to maybe get a few more seconds off the clock and not have as many cross court passes which led to that one steal.
Why did they take the easy way out and not foul? A OT is better than a buzzer beater opportunity smh
This has been the season from hell for the Gophers. We either get blown out or lose by 2 or 3 possessions. All our good players entered the transfer portal when the new coach arrived leaving us with inexperienced freshmen. So it was quite surprising that we won against Rutgers a team that has a chance to make the NCAA Tournament. Although not anymore!
Minnesota is having a tough season. New coach last year had to build his team through the transfer portal. But their starting a bunch of true freshman recruits. Hopefully this incredible win is a positive look to the future?
