I'm going to quit watching the video to go online to see if I'm able to purchase it, also with cancer, Natural is always the best way, I've worked for 33 years in natural healing, of learned a lot in 33 years of studied it for 33 years and I will study it more until the day I die but it's easily prevented "through the natural" not working with the medical world because as just some people know medical doctors are not trained in natural ways and natural immune boosting etc etc...... I've watched and read about many real people who knew Judy G. The tragedy sells ( bad ) movies like the Zellweger trash. The only real tragedy is that in her day , addiction was treated as a flaw of character rather than a disease.

Rehab centers, usually called sanitoriums or sanitariums, had been around since silent movies. There's even one in "A Star Is Born," where Norman Maine stayed. Judy, herself, had been in some during her movie days, on both coasts. They were designed for the rich, and one she went to had croquet. The theme then was the same then as now... regular meals, bedtime, and counseling.
Well said, Lorna. I was ten when my mom took me to a matinee of Judy at the Curran theatre in San Francisco. I already loved Judy but to have gotten to see her in person was just gob smacking. She talked a lot, but she danced and sang and when she sat on the stage and sang "Born In A Trunk", it really changed my short life. She was an amazing person and her performances were out of this world.

Also, I read in June Allyson’s book, she was at a party with Judy around 1950, and Judy said to her - if Mickey Rooney ever proposed to her she would marry him in a second! And years later around 1960/61 - Judy said it AGAIN to June, if he proposed she would still marry him in a second ! So then I read Mickey Rooney’s autobiography; he said he sees Judy as a sister … 😮
Lorna is so respectful and kind and real and talented of course. I saw her in New York and she was just wonderful. And very generous to her fellow musicians who she gave some solos to. She comes from a great mom and also a great dad who really tried to hold things together although it didn’t work out. I’ve read her books. Hi Lorna, I hope you are reading the comments, you mother was so loved. My mother adored her! She boosted of her talents. So many Sunday mornings we would watch the TMC and watch her and Micky Rooney…..I thank my mother for showing me the classics. My mom was born in 1924…..and passed in 1988. I worked as an usher at a big theater in Fort Lauderdale when I was a teenager. And touring Broadway productions would come in for three weeks usually. I was Lorna in They're Playing Our Song 11 times. This was well over 40 years ago, maybe 45. To this day, I remember how her performances were different every night, little nuances here and there. Her co-star, whose name escapes me at the moment, was equally terrific. I used to have the OBC album with Lucie Arnaz and Robert klein and play it all the time in my '72 Valiant, but I much preferred the touring cast. Too bad they didn't make an album.
Great interview. I always thought that both Judy Garland and also Lorna Luft were both great. But this is the first time I learned that Judy Garland was Lorna Luft's Mother.
The most scandalous things I ever read in the many biographies about Judy were in "Me and My Shadows" by Lorna. I'm glad she was truthful because she was there in a way nobody else was, as Judy's caretaker, nurse, maid, companion. But in all the years since her book, nobody ever questions her about, for example, the time Judy threw a knife at son Joey and almost connected with his head. Or the time Lorna was left to spend the night wiping up the blood of Judy and then-boyfriend Mark Herron after their brawl in Hawaii. Nobody would have known about either had Lorna not written about it. Of course she won't discuss such things while trying to sell perfume, but nobody ever asked her about it prior to this.
Judy was an extraordinary talent, she worked do hard as a child, then an adult I've seen most of her films, I love her recordings, and I wish I had been old enough to see I concert. She had tragedies in her life. The pill addiction, and financial troubles. Lorna wrote about some difficult times ,and put them in her TV mini-series. She does it with love.
I adorn my physique with Halston cologne. Proud to realize that Lorna Luft -&- her sister Liza are working on a new fragrance to honor their mom's 100th birthday. Judy Garland will yes as Lorna says here will always stand out.
Well, the tragedy was her addiction, clearly. It's not an insult to say what is true. JG was/is an icon. It doesn't take away from her accomplishments to recognize what ultimately pulled her down. I have to say, I get the feeling Lorna is the better educated person in that family. She's incredibly well spoken and forthcoming. I wish her well.
I just want to all of you to know especially Lorna lutf. Everything my Judy garlands daughter ever said in this remarkable interview about her mom I relate to very much. But she never mentioned her brother. That entire time because I've been wondering for forever what become of him.
When I was a child about 11 or so, her voice in Grease 2 had a mesmerizing sound to me, I would play it over and over. It reminded me subsequently of Cissy Houston and had some of the contemporary effect of other stars of the time who were popular, maybe Denice Williams.

Lorna and Liza are so much alike. Like mini versions of their mother. It almost seems like they are the same person when they talk and sing. We will never see entertainers like this again in our lifetime.
Ok...might not have been a completely "tragic" life but multiple, multiple overdoses, slicing various body parts on many occasions, addiction for 30 years (prescribed or not an addicition is an addiction), bankruptcy, homelessness, etc., does point to a lot of tragic days in 47 years though. I'm a big Judy fan, too and enjoy her art...tragedy killed her too soon!
The host's idiotic question about where the tragic image of Judy's life began is too silly for words. Judy, herself, publicized her various tragedies- Mr. Mayer having black coffee and chicken soup poured down her throat, a special smoking kapo making sure Judy put in 4 packs a day, hyped up and wound down with drugs, overworked, ripped off, wicked abusive mother, and on and on. It's 100% tragic Judy, her own creation.
Lorna doesn’t blame the studio that totally objectified her mother, and was solely concerned with how much money she could make for them??? The danger of drugs on Judy Garland’s life was explained to the studio brass by at least THREE doctors as well as by Joe Hyams; however, they REFUSED to decrease her staggering work load, and forced her to continue to work on multiple pictures per year, to the obvious detriment to her health. And Lorna Luft sees nothing wrong with that. WOW.

What can I say? It's a fan gushing interview. I suppose there are people out there who like these types of "oh I love you , I love you" fan interviews. Nothing wrong with that, but I was hoping for something a little more different. Lorna Luft wasn't asked anything here and didn't say anything here I haven't heard her asked and say a dozen times before in other interviews. "Oh he was wonderful, oh that was wonderful", etc. It's always the same "show biz" stories she's asked and boy does she love to drop the names, but then she always did. I admire her tenacity for what she's been threw. That takes guts. I do wish her well. She's a survivor.
Pretty negative post about Lorna, sir. Some of it I agree though. She has said the same things hundreds of times in interviews but at least she tells the truth and one doesn't hear any embellishings of what she has said before. I love her attitude and support of Judy and Liza! Judy was funny and NOT as tragic as the world still makes her out to be. I think "the tragedy book" is hysterical and reminds me of how the late great Joan Rivers made comedy out of tragedy!!! Shelley Winters said, "Garland could never give a straight answer without making a joke". Luft herself has said her mother wore people out, but then that's not uncommon with drug addicts. The real tragedy of Garland other than the meth dependency was that she worked so hard and was taken advantage of by so many people out for themselves. Who made those rules? I must disagree. Have you watched interviews where you either did not see the interviewer, or they merely rattled off the questions, and were ill-prepared? This interviewer is actually interested in the person who he is interviewing. He is also well-prepared, and well-received by the interviewees! What more could one ask?

Every interview I've seen in my decades on this Earth show the interviewer asking questions and the interviewee answering them. This interviewer, Craig, has a great rapport with the celebrities, that is plain to see. The world would never have gotten a glimpse of Barbara Walters or any interviewer if the absurd rule an interviewer should never been seen applied.

Lorna sang on a wonderful recording of the Gershwins' "Girl Crazy". In the Merman role of Kate Fothergill, she got to sing I Got Rhythm; Sam and Delilah; and Boy, What Love Has Done To Me.

Hi Lorna, I hope you are reading the comments, you mother was so loved. My mother adored her! She boosted of her talents. So many Sunday mornings we would watch the TMC and watch her and Micky Rooney…..I thank my mother for showing me the classics. My mom was born in 1924…..and passed in 1988. I worked as an usher at a big theater in Fort Lauderdale when I was a teenager. And touring Broadway productions would come in for three weeks usually. I was Lorna in They're Playing Our Song 11 times. This was well over 40 years ago, maybe 45. To this day, I remember how her performances were different every night, little nuances here and there. Her co-star, whose name escapes me at the moment, was equally terrific. I used to have the OBC album with Lucie Arnaz and Robert klein and play it all the time in my '72 Valiant, but I much preferred the touring cast. Too bad they didn't make an album.

The most scandalous things I ever read in the many biographies about Judy were in "Me and My Shadows" by Lorna. I'm glad she was truthful because she was there in a way nobody else was, as Judy's caretaker, nurse, maid, companion. But in all the years since her book, nobody ever questions her about, for example, the time Judy threw a knife at son Joey and almost connected with his head. Or the time Lorna was left to spend the night wiping up the blood of Judy and then-boyfriend Mark Herron after their brawl in Hawaii. Nobody would have known about either had Lorna not written about it. Of course she won't discuss such things while trying to sell perfume, but nobody ever asked her about it prior to this.
I think Judy said she sang around the house all the time . . . but I could be wrong.
Judy was an extraordinary talent, she worked do hard as a child, then an adult I've seen most of her films, I love her recordings, and I wish I had been old enough to see I concert. She had tragedies in her life. The pill addiction, and financial troubles. Lorna wrote about some difficult times ,and put them in her TV mini-series. She does it with love.
I adorn my physique with Halston cologne. Proud to realize that Lorna Luft -&- her sister Liza are working on a new fragrance to honor their mom's 100th birthday. Judy Garland will yes as Lorna says here will always stand out.
Her fragrance is a unisex one it's expensive but fabulous I love mine lasts all day too !

Well, the tragedy was her addiction, clearly. It's not an insult to say what is true. JG was/is an icon. It doesn't take away from her accomplishments to recognize what ultimately pulled her down.
I have to say, I get the feeling Lorna is the better educated person in that family. She's incredibly well spoken and forthcoming. I wish her well.
I just want to all of you to know especially Lorna lutf. Everything my Judy garlands daughter ever said in this remarkable interview about her mom I relate to very much. But she never mentioned her brother. That entire time because I've been wondering for forever what become of him.
When I was a child about 11 or so, her voice in Grease 2 had a mesmerizing sound to me, I would play it over and over. It reminded me subsequently of Cissy Houston and had some of the contemporary effect of other stars of the time who were popular, maybe Denice Williams.
Didn't Judy wear a fragrance called Joy?

Lorna and Liza are so much alike. Like mini versions of their mother. It almost seems like they are the same person when they talk and sing. We will never see entertainers like this again in our lifetime.

Ok...might not have been a completely "tragic" life but multiple, multiple overdoses, slicing various body parts on many occasions, addiction for 30 years (prescribed or not an addicition is an addiction), bankruptcy, homelessness, etc., does point to a lot of tragic days in 47 years though. I'm a big Judy fan, too and enjoy her art...tragedy killed her too soon!
The host's idiotic question about where the tragic image of Judy's life began is too silly for words. Judy, herself, publicized her various tragedies- Mr. Mayer having black coffee and chicken soup poured down her throat, a special smoking kapo making sure Judy put in 4 packs a day, hyped up and wound down with drugs, overworked, ripped off, wicked abusive mother, and on and on. It's 100% tragic Judy, her own creation.
Lorna doesn’t blame the studio that totally objectified her mother, and was solely concerned with how much money she could make for them??? The danger of drugs on Judy Garland’s life was explained to the studio brass by at least THREE doctors as well as by Joe Hyams; however, they REFUSED to decrease her staggering work load, and forced her to continue to work on multiple pictures per year, to the obvious detriment to her health. And Lorna Luft sees nothing wrong with that. WOW.

Knowing that Lorna Luft has her autobiography "Me and My Shadows" is wonderful because it is her normal.

Judy was tragic. Tragically addicted to drugs and tragically being taken advantage of by the industry.
What can I say? It's a fan gushing interview. I suppose there are people out there who like these types of "oh I love you , I love you" fan interviews. Nothing wrong with that, but I was hoping for something a little more different. Lorna Luft wasn't asked anything here and didn't say anything here I haven't heard her asked and say a dozen times before in other interviews. "Oh he was wonderful, oh that was wonderful", etc. It's always the same "show biz" stories she's asked and boy does she love to drop the names, but then she always did. I admire her tenacity for what she's been threw. That takes guts. I do wish her well. She's a survivor.
Pretty negative post about Lorna, sir. Some of it I agree though. She has said the same things hundreds of times in interviews but at least she tells the truth and one doesn't hear any embellishings of what she has said before. I love her attitude and support of Judy and Liza! Judy was funny and NOT as tragic as the world still makes her out to be. I think "the tragedy book" is hysterical and reminds me of how the late great Joan Rivers made comedy out of tragedy!!! The only problem I somewhat have about Lorna is when she says that she didn't realize she was fromHollywood royalty as a child. That is a stretch because her mother and father DID hobnob with all of the legends!!! "dropping names" you say? Well Judy did know all these people and they loved her!!! After all this time I think Lorna wants the world to see her mother in reality(the good and bad) as we all have both of those things in our lives!
@@markwhitman9029 When parents die children often want the focus to be on the positive memories. Nothing wrong with that. It's understandable how Luft and Minnelli keep pushing how funny Garland was. Shelley Winters said, "Garland could never give a straight answer without making a joke". Luft herself has said her mother wore people out, but then that's not uncommon with drug addicts. The real tragedy of Garland other than the meth dependency was that she worked so hard and was taken advantage of by so many people out for themselves. I'm now intrigued by Ms Luft's life and have found her music on RUclips. Obviously the negative poster knew Judy Garland intimately and is disagreeing with what her daughter has to say. I know of Miss Judy Garland and keep hearing what a tragic life she led. Anyway, I enjoyed this and found Ms Luft refreshingly honest. :)
In recent years, Luft's singing voice has fallen into the ditch! Sad...... Judy Garland was (& always will be) a shining star for generations to come! What an incredible talent!!
The camera should stay on the GUEST, and not on the host-the host should be HEARD and not SEEN so much, cuz we watch to see the GUEST, for corn’s sake! We really don’t need to see all the host’s reactions, and we’d rather see the guest’s reactions when a question is being asked…yeeesh.
Guess this is one of Craig’s techniques 🫤 I doubt he’s ever done an interview without the audience having to endure seeing his reactions.
Who made those rules? I must disagree. Have you watched interviews where you either did not see the interviewer, or they merely rattled off the questions, and were ill-prepared? This interviewer is actually interested in the person who he is interviewing. He is also well-prepared, and well-received by the interviewees! What more could one ask?
@@UnoHoo1 I agree with you. Sheesh, there sure are some tricky, difficult to please people about. Every interview I've seen in my decades on this Earth show the interviewer asking questions and the interviewee answering them. This interviewer, Craig, has a great rapport with the celebrities, that is plain to see. The world would never have gotten a glimpse of Barbara Walters or any interviewer if the absurd rule an interviewer should never been seen applied.

Some days, everywhere you go, one seems to find themselves in the “complaint department.” With everything so grim these days in our world, I get that people might not feel at their best, but all the more reason to be nicer to everyone, I would think. Its called a conversation. That’s generally how it works. Pretty standard. Host asks questions, in this case Miss Luft answers. Nice the two seem to have a connection. Agreement is always unanimous, FYI 😵💫 As you seem hyper-critical, try looking up tautology.😊

I have been a longtime follower of this Celebrity Drop channel and the interview has never exhibited any ego that I've seen. An informed and respectful interviewer who was hardly making a mockery of the whole thing as you claim. It might also be that Miss Luft didn't want any close ups.
I get the feeling @unknown is nothing but a miserable whinger. The interview was great, the host excellent, and Miss Luft seemed 100 percent engaged and charming. The complainer has obviously never seen an interview where the host asks a question, the interviewer answers. If on TV, both are seen. Its on the news every night. Morning and daytime shows all over the world. 😵💫
