I want you to try the Dayno Amplifire FP 1404 test Thank you very much
It is scarily amazing how powerful these car audio amplifiers are getting now. Twenty years ago this kind of power out of a 5 channel amplifier was unheard of. 😮 My goodness 😮
We would not have been able to afford it back then.
@@MrXjoeharperxIt wouldn't have even been able to be manufactured back then.
It was practically $1 per watt lol
I was 16 in 1990 and the big bass guy was in his late twenties whose dad owned a pawnshop. he had a audio section in the back and was into pyramid, Kenwood and alpine. I didn't know much about car audio, 1st I knew I didn't have the money to have what he did, nor did I want hearing aids at his age either.
Again we are living though the best time to be in car audio. Just think a few years ago this was thought to be impossible
Absolutely
The people back then thought the same thing about car audio at the time and so will the people in the future lol
@@majicdude88 and those same people still thank the stuff back then was so much better ,and you obviously missed the point.
And those amps are still working. Will these be in 30 years?
@@littlejln213 some of them are and most are not. But even if it still working your trying say a amp that cost more than $1 a watt and is 30% efficiency is better in what way? I love old school amps I have many really good ones but 99% of them never coming off the shelf again they just can't compete and are worth more as wall art to drool over them to use but I still love all of them
Collin just kicked his entire competition in the nutts..way to go Mr buckeye
😂 I was looking at 5 channel amps on Amazon when this notification popped up. WAL coming through again. 700?! I only need to run a set of 6x9's and a set of 6.5 components so 700 should be perfect 😂. Even at $1000 it's an awesome bang for the buck
That's about four times the power that you need to run your setup
Dude these surge amps are no freaking joke! I love them! I really wish they would make some smaller amps for guys who want bump but don’t want to upgrade entire electrical system. Like a nice 500-1000 mono would be sick! Let’s go surge help the little guys out lol
The stinger amps are an amazing value in the mono block arena. I've bought a couple of them, no issues
Just buy a lithium 6.0 from down 4 sound. They are cheap and can support up to 3000w with your stock electrical
there are plenty of other options of pea shooters from other manufacturers...
@@joseenriquez8643400 dollars not exactly that cheap for guys on a budget
5 channels lost a lot of bass head $$ because of those weak sub channels . 500w was the most you could get and now we doing 5500s on a dyno crazy 👍
An amplifier of this caliber, back in the late 80’s, would have been totally unaffordable!!! Probably $5,000 at least!!! That was the “hey-day” of car stereo, with brands like Rockford Fosgate, Orion (red), Alpine, PPI, Kicker, a/d/s, US Amps and JL Audio who ruled the car audio scene. Ahh, the memories…
Wow 8449 watts dynamic at .5 ohms. Serious power out of this 5 channel.
I went ahead and ordered one. It's on back order. hopefully it'll be here within a month or 2. Gonna run the whole system in my classic 68 Chevelle.
Class D amps have come an insanely long way. A long time ago when they were first invented they had extremely limited bandwidth because the PWM architecture couldn’t switch fast enough & cleanly enough to encode high frequencies, and thus could only be used for subwoofers. Then full range class D chips came along, then eventually crazy sht like this lol. I think we’re reaching a plateau though. Semiconductors are pretty much at their limit for power density and surface mount components have PCBs packed as tightly as possible. So this is an apex example of car amps
Your the man.... I keep learning about these cheaper brands that deliver great power. One hopes they'll last, but for the price who can complain if it doesn't go the distance. Keep it up
5 channel amplifiers has came a long way. This is great to see they got even stronger nice 💪
Stronger is nice, yes. However, there are a lot of idiots out there who will grab one and think their stock electrical system will power it. 🤣
@@PatientXero607 Yup true on your last sentence LOL
@@PatientXero607Stock electrical is fine, depending on how high you turn the volume. I'm guessing there's a lot of folks who don't understand this?
Those numbers are insane BUT THE SUB OHM TESTS....WHOA!!! Crazy power for an all in one amp!
What an impressive amp. Can’t wait to get my 3k. Might have to get a couple more amps from them if they keep this up
WOW. That's absolutely insane. That is a beast of an amp. Period....
Hey Big D. The other day I went to my local swap meet and this vendor had a table full of old school amp gems. He had old Orion, Hifonics, Phoenix Gold, Audio gods, Soundstream reference, and many more. I DM’d you a video on Instagram of all the stuff he had.
Thanks!
Orion has always been one of my favorite!
How were the prices?
Awesome!! Exactly what I've been wanting needing and looking for
We found the beef finally find a good 5-channel amplifier keep up the awesome job
I guess the younger people will dig it...I am content with 50 x4, class AB and maybe 1000 for a sub, but 6000 watts for the confines of a car interior seems beyond excessive. But , I respect the engineering and the effort to make this amp appear to be high quality, great show brother...but I prefer the Old School...Merry Christmas Big D
Class A/B amps for the win 🏆
Many of the modern speakers are much less efficient as they’re chasing high wattage numbers. Which also ends up meaning they take way more power to drive them.
An actual 5-channel solution, impressive!
I would like to see you dyno the Hifonics BRZ model monoblocks from around 2010-2011.
Wow, what a beast!
Love the idea of 5 ch. amps, and tried a few over years, but prefer individualized channel amplification - though this amp seems to be able to to do it all
guys the original Down4Sound JP95 RED | 1500W RMS - 5 Channel Amplifier is $199 right now. I wish I didn't have bills or I would buy two of these things 12/10/232 this is not an ad and I have no affiliation with down for sound it's just an awesome amplifier
Sorcery!!!! Amazing power. Love to have seen the quad box flex. Thanks Big D
i personally like the - + + - lay out if you touch 2 positives together nothing happens if it was + - + - with big fat 1/0 or 2/0 wire with inputs then you increase the chance of touching wires.
I would really doubt anyone's abilities if this was a concern. To be making cabling changes with live powered 1/0 is plain stupid.
Sweet! I love it. It's a nice amplifier.
Wow! Very impressive amp. Can't imagine the current draw this thing has though. Without a doubt need upgrade electrical.
Just looked up the surge 7000 watt mono block current draw is 800 amps. You will definitely need a ho alternator with a battery bank
This is beyond insane. Over 8k on the sub channel. I wish we could at least see the efficiency on the sub side. I'm pretty sure it's running clean around 80% on the 4 channel at 2 ohm. This thing is a beast
I love my surge 10k, I have it wired to half ohm to a pair of x15's v.3
This amp is an absolute BEAST!
Man thats the most awesome amp i think i have seen on here
All the power and a great bass knob to boot.
She gots power for dayz!
Beast of a 5ch. Might need to get a couple of these.
What do you think about mtx amps? I seen some of your videos testing some older models but not much about the newer ones. Back 25 years ago I ran 2 thunder 5000 15's and a pair of 2150x amps and loved it. I been out of the game for a long time so I've never heard of some of these brands.
Another amazing vid boss keep it up
Looks fantastic upgraded electrical and a good wire management layout then your Gucci. What about checking these other amps out ? Looks basic but could yield merit, AMPLIFIER 8,500RMS (1 OHMS) - BPS AUDIO ?
I wonder what power the PS-2000.4 puts out. Tho. Did u receive that down4sound jp284 yet boss waiting on you to dyno that one
Definitely buying!
Geez, Surge! That thing is a monster!
Nice Receiver, looks in great shade
Have you ever dyno audiotek amps i would like to see what they're rated cause I have a 7000 watt audiotek amp
Thing's an absolute BEAST... 😮
Never thought id see this a day in my life!!!!!
What’s the frequency response for channels 1-4? Thanks in advance!!
Good gravy that amp is impressive 👏
They must have some crazy power regulation going on inside of them, for the dynamic to be lower than the certified.
Impressive! Thanks
Could you test some of the lasted class D dj amps lake soundtown
I would love to run a full system on this amplifier
Wow what a beast of an amp..
Over 8400 peak, that
s crazy for most any amp.
That is ridiculously bad ass
Hey Big D wish u would have done the amps drawn from the amp like u have done on other amps. I like to see how much power a amp could draw from my vehicle electrical system. Other wise good job. Im liking the power from that amp.
On a class D amp like this you can divide the power by 10 to get a rough estimate of the amp draw. Like a total of 3,000 watts might draw around 300 amps.
This is a monster 5ch amp it’s hard to imagine something like this a couple years back.
This amp is crazy. 😮😮
Been looking forward to your videos man. Cant wait to see the new JP amp too.
Im torn between a JP amp or a Taramps for my STU 12
Taramps amps just seem flat to me. Big D also mentioned this in a few of his videos when reviewing the Taramps. I would definitely pick up a Down 4 Sound amp before Taramps
Hi BigD, do you know of any new age amps with frequency adjustable bass boost? One of my old favorite amps was the Infinity Kappa 202a, it had a variable frequency bass boost. It would let you adjust the frequency (20 to 80Hz) boosted by up to 8db. It let me boost the low end in my car and sounded great, I'd like to find a decent amp (1k-2kW) with a similar feature. So yeah are you aware of any?
Stinger Audio amps have variable frequency bass boost from 30 to 80 hz.
Will run 8 6x9 full range no problem what a beast 👌
Damn!!!! Awesome AMP!!!
Whoa... now that's a spicy meatball.
Thanks as always.
Gotta know if it sounds good next!
That's a spicy meatball son....you woulda had to sign away your entire family back in the day to afford anything that put up those numbers.. phenomenal!!
Man, that is crazy!
😎👍👍
Good lawd that's so awesome power😮
when you have made ad-1 calibration?
Isn't there any way to bypass all the internal crossovers? And what slopes and types are used? I can't find this information here or on their website. There's supposed to be a link to the manual on the product page, but there's no link in the text.
Channels one through four do you have an on-off switch for the crossovers. If they don't specify the slope and you can typically expect 12 DB per octave. Channel 5 is not a full range channel so it's crossover can't technically be turned off. It seems to be limited to 250 hz, though.
I really wish all car subwoofer amplifiers offered the option of bypassing their crossovers. This is the only reason why I tend to prefer the Brazilian amps. It's really a shame, because I'd love to have this amplifier otherwise. It's quite a unique beast of an amp.
@@BrandinHuttoWhat are you talking about, bro?
You CAN turn off the crossovers.
Look at the controls. There are on/off buttons.
That is one crazy slab of an amp!
true that
Dayum that amp pushes some whatts!
Holy cripes!! Look at that power!!
would be interesting to see what the 4 channels do power wise with the sub channel loaded down, not sure if you have that info to share. wouldnt surprise me if they were limited slightly by the 1 ohm sub channel soaking up power
The amp dyno only has the 2 inputs. Would need 2 dynos to be able to load all the channels and see what it all does together.
LONG LIVE THE KING....
This amp doesn't just bump, it makes sure everyone knows your bumping
amazing amp
In .5ohm it looked like it failed in the first test but got over 8k dynamic. Do think it will perform fine in .5ohm? Looks like an amazing amp, im almost consideredimg it. I need to save a little space my 3 amps are taking up a bit of room.
What do you mean by perform fine at 0.5 ohm?
Do you mean you're going to wire it down to 0.25 ohm and get 2x rise so the amplifier would actually see 0.5 ohm?
Or do you mean you're going to wire it down to 0.5 ohm so that the amplifier would actually see 1 ohm?
Damn! I like this amp
Just when I thought the CT Sounds SIX channel was nice, was really looking into that to run my 3way components rather than base speakers and sub but THIS?!...... FML the audio gawdz are good to us atm
You should test the avatar 2000.1d amp
I would like to see you hook up the amp or speaker with different ohm settings cuz idk fully how to I only kinda get it but you drop the ohms way lower is that on the dyno or your wiring
On this dyno the outputs are connected to resistor banks instead of speakers, so that he gets a consistent amount of resistance. This is how you test the amplifier ratings. When you connect these to speakers the impedance is always going to be higher and it's always going to change based on the frequency of the music. So speakers put a lot less load and stress on the amplifiers.
What a BEAST!
Real Beast🙌💯
That’s a lot of channel separation. It will get great for loud. Unfortunately the alternator needed to power this won’t be cheap and most won’t get one.
That is insane
Hey, in the future can you inform us of the signal to noise ratio.
Or you can research it yourself
Wow that's nuts at .5!
I always watch your videos and how much does those amps cost
Prices do vary, but if you check the link in the video description they are currently selling for $1,000.
@Williston Audio Labs if i wanted to use a amp like this for DJ work what would i need to do ???
You would need a 12v power supply with perhaps 300A of continuous current, which would be difficult to find and difficult to power or you could just use a bank of 12v car batteries and lots of chargers connected in parallel.
But why would you bother when there are plenty of pro audio amplifiers rated well into the 1000s of Watts of power available made for what you do.
Sure this might be 1/10th the price of a Crown or Dynacord 10kW amp but getting power to these would be a challenge. But I am guessing you don't actually need 10kW?
I wish I could fit these bigger amps in my car so bad lol.
I want you to try the Dayno Amplifire FP 1404 test Thank you very much
Thanks for the suggestion
Also would love to see a " helix dark blue 2 " test 😂 I have one thats in the box still, thinking of putting it into my daily car 😁
What's the deal with that amplifier? Nowadays Helix is known for their high-end equipment, but that 12-year-old amplifier looks rather inexpensive or entry level.
@@JasonWW2000 Just fun to see what it does, old thing.
I got it from driving someone home😂
What a beast, 🎉
😅 you know we gonna watch till the end bro 💯
Do it bump doe?
I hate having a factory Bose system.
What do you think will sound better on my tundra Crewmax. 2 10in subs or 3 or 4 6.5in subs?
6.5 are not subs. They're a joke.
@@elcomandante9299 they’re subs alright
Dang a 5ch amp that can run my Sundown X12 wow!!!
Nice amp
Active cooling that can't do anything if the amp is mounted flush on a surface.. How is it supposed to pull in air when the vent/fan is on the bottom.
You mount it in such a way that it's able to pull in air.
amp are very powerful.❤
sorry can u test audison av 5.1k amp, not poverful but good sound(at least for me)
