This and the Mk1 , just watched , are probably the finest cars you’ve reviewed. From the days when you had to drive cars, none of the idiot electronic bollox they have now, no touchscreens, real dials, proper handbrake, a key you put in and twist, all hugely better than anything, everything, made today .
I think the diesel VRS was also in part VAG's answer to the Mondeo ST TDCi at the time and from what I can remember it was definitely more popular as well. Or in Ireland anyways.
Takes me back to my 2008 2.0 Tdi octavia, but you're right about SUV temptation, I replaced it with a Škoda Yeti. Not really an SUV but it's where Škoda started to go down that road.
Lovely nostalgic content. Had a 2011 and 2014 Octavia Estate. Preferred the 2011 version. It felt more solid and better quality Better ride too..The newer one had a DPF, that was a pain in the...Can't believe it's over £40k now. It wasn't better than the car I have now, which is better in every way but I do have nostalgia for when I was younger and fitter.
I drive a 2011 Skoda Octavia vRS MK2 Estate 2.0 TDI 170 CR Manuel, its at 135k miles and the DPF has clogged up. Just had that gutted, and an EGR Delete. turbo has gone on it too but i think the vanes are just sticking... I've already spent £1000 on it replacing the discs, cam belt and warter pump and full service so i guess all i need to do now is get the turbo fixed and remap it and run it untill it dies, then i can get a new car, or van... runs a lot nicer now the dpf and egr has been fixed 😉
Happy new year Mark. Thanks for posting throwback to Mk2 VRS. Love seeing your throwback videos and hope they continue!
More retro, yes please. Happy new year to you and 5hose you love.
I had the 2.0T manual petrol version of this model. I kept it for 8 years and 90000 miles. Quite possibly the best car I've ever owned.

Loving retro videos .
All I can say is Nobby, more of this ie the retro reviews! I'm itching to hear about your Porsche also!

Those Mondeos looked 👌🏻
Loved the retro review. Good to mix among with the new stuff. Maybe consider a few more
Love the older stuff! Keep it up. Also would like a video on the pros and cons of the 911 purchase!
Should get the Porsche filmed in the next few weeks
Great video Mark.I had the 07 no nonsense diesel.Great car
Retro is good, I bought an E93 manual cabriolet last year and it's a great contrast to our model 3, love both of them but so different to drive.

Ah, the Yeti. Why that is not now an EV I'll never know...
@NobbyOnCars it's called the elroq. Škoda let me throw it around the track in September when I met the CEO. It feels like my old yeti!
