I've had this amp for over a couple weeks now. It's hands down my favorite so far. I've got the Aiyima A07 (TPA3255), Aiyima A08 (TPA3255), Sabaj A10a (MA12070) and a Nobsound TPA3255. They're all great amps but the AO200 sounds the best and seems to put out the most clean power. Love it's feature set too! My inefficient Micca RB42's rock & roll like nobody's business with this amp. I just ordered a Sabaj A20a (dual MA1270's w/balanced inputs) and looking forward to comparing it with the AO200 in terms of power output and sonic signature. Thanks for the informal review.
@@Toid my question is. for high end why would i buy this over a conventional a/b amp other than for space saving, especially if you look at the used market there is some seriously good kit around for that kinda money. Personally for me i either want a party out in the yard/garage Bluetooth capable amp that sounds reasonable when people are over or im working on the cars. The flip side i'm sat down alone doing some critical listening on something much higher end (all my high end critical listening stuff is diy these days as my tastes far outpace my financial reach). For garage/patio listening I have found the $20-25 TPA3116 50x50x100 bt5.0 boards pretty decent if you stuff them with some nicer pots and sort out the crossover, feed it with a good 24v psu and they bop along nicely paired with an efficient 12inch sw and speakers. i guess this could work for running a set of nice computer speakers but i think id take the money from this and put it towards something like a pair of powered elac monitors or something diy like you have done in the past.
If you still have the AO200 can you check the L/R channels from PC to the USB input? I just returned mine because they were reversed. All other inputs including BT and the U-disk feature were channel correct. I really miss the damn thing already and a little depressed it had to go back. Thanks!
Nice looking unit! Love the price tag. That front screen, and the balanced inputs rock. Nice power rating. Big power cord, got to love it! Love how it pushed those speakers. Great review man!
Thanks for this. I'm in Australia and was curious if you have any information about the SMSL AO300 released Sept. 2023? Has both USB and HDMI with front headphone jacks. There is no information about it on RUclips.
Amazing review buddy. I have the SMSL DA9 and I love it. I trying to figure out what’s the difference between the two. I was thinking of buying a second DA9 for my bedroom but now I’m not sure if I should consider the model you just reviewed. The DA9 is 250$
One thing, I have a few arlylic up2stream units. If I stream from one of these units, they will not sync with this SMSL Amplifier?! Also, they have around the same out[ut wattage? I like more power, since my speakers are not that efficient. I opt for the ICEPOWER 200asc/ac amplifier.
@@rancosteel that’s not how that works. There’s a centering frequency of 1Khz. I’ll have a video out tomorrow that shows that. So you can understand what it’s doing.
Does anyone know how the sound of the AO200 would compare the the Emotiva BasX TA1? I need an amp for a second space and was debating to buy another AO200 or a Emotiva BasX TA1? Emotiva price is a bit of a stretch but if its superior to the AO200 I will consider.
Lol! I have ran into your question 3 times on 3 different channels, no one has answered. I was also curious but decided to order the A0200. I found a damaged box one on Amazon for a discounted price. Couldn’t go wrong. Good luck!
Can't give you a comparison, except to say I'm so pleased with my first AO200 and DO200 for big floorstanders that I bought another AO200 for my 2nd system (E50 + QA3030I )
@@speedgripen6766 Yes, I have found it so. My listening is classical, prog rock, folk and jazz, and its is good with all. FWIW, I'm so happy with it I bought a second AO200. Ist one drives big floorstanders (Richter Dragon V) and second one drives QA3030i. Plenty of super clean ultra low noise power.
Did you try it with a small powered subwoofer and smaller speakers? Which brings me to ask, what small plate sub woofer amp would you choose for your 4 1/2 inch sub with passive speakers?? Thanks
They are pretty similar. I do like that this one has the USB input as well. Gives you a few more options. Especially with the price difference being so minimal. But I don't think you can go wrong with either of them.
I could see that. I would rather have balanced inputs over optical. But I see why others would choose differently. Adding it definitely would have been nice.

@@jimtek59 I think it's a fantastic so as well. I am getting an A07 in.. I'm interested in guess it'll perform.
@@Toid Ya, I think you'll be impressed with the A07. I only have the stock 32V PS but the mfg recommends a 48V to achieve the ideal power output.

I can vouch for the amp, we ran my BP 9080x towers off of it for an outdoor movie night and it had no issues powering them cleanly.
You should send to me so we can see the actual #’s 😬. Looks great overall !
Most definitely. Would love to see big D do more home amplifiers.
send it send it send it :-)

I was looking at the Emotiva A2 ($450 Class AB), but bought the Aiyima A07 ($70 Class D). I love my Sanskrit 2.
Can I use the bluetooth connection to output to bluetooth headphones OR is bluetooth just used as an input source?
Would anyone know if this can adequately power the Polk Reserve R200 speakers.

I didn't with this one. But I did with sheet SMSL amplifier I had. It worked really well. I don't see why this would be any different

Nice Amp for the money , but the USB Input is verry bad.
Exactly how TF does a colored screen make any fucking difference on an audio amp?
Well, it is literally the only thing in this price range that has a remote and doesn’t look like an 80s alarm clock in the front.
Junk, compared to the latest TPA3255 chip amplifiers. They're both cheaper & more powerful.
