How does stuff like this end up leaking like 20 years+ later?!

to quote someone (this could be false) "You guys know I’m not a leaker, but I recently discovered a pathetic low-life betrayed my trust & has been circulating my personal DAT rip of Willa Ford’s version of “Not Such an Innocent Girl” after I shared it with them freely. Lying & screwing over caring people who bought into your pathetic sob sorry is beyond disgusting."

This feels like a fever dream tbh. Seriously no idea she recorded this first. Would’ve totally worked as the follow up to I Wanna Be Bad in my opinion.
She discarded this song in favor of I wanna be bad because this song was edgy or sexy enough. If you listen to I wanna be bad it’s very thematically similar to this just more pg13 than this which is more pg lol
Victoria has stronger vocal delivery, and the back up vocals are sung by Sheri Ford-Payne, not Willa or Victoria. Victoria also has stronger vocals during the ad-libs, and the way she ends the song is more impactful. It is nice that the original record is finally out in the open. I think it’s a great song either way.

I remember there was a live recording of this from back when she opened for the Backstreet Boys. The studio version is very different both from that and Victoria Beckham's version.
I think it sounds almost identical to VB’s version, they even kept some of the backing-vocals from Ford on VB’s version.
I was never impressed by this song (from VB), even less so now. How unoriginal and quite honestly disappointing after the banger that was Out Of Your Mind.

Youd be surprised how much of this sort of thing goes on with songs being recorded by someone but never getting released and repackaged and released for someone else (and in some cases becoming a big hit). Cyprus' Eurovision entry this year (Liar by Silia Kapsis) is another example of this, as the song was previously submitted for Greece with a singer named Melissa Mantsoukis, and it was also rumoured to have been originally planned for Russia in 2022 with Klava Koca.
As for this song, having listened to this version, i think it suited Willa more than Posh Spice since she was one of those US teen pop acts that were common in the early 2000s and the song was obviously written with her in mind, Victoria in comparison doesn't look right doing it since she was in or nearing her early 30s when she did it, and the song was more consistent with Willa's typical style.

yes like Kylie and Cypriot singer Anna Vissi both had On a night like this at the same time but a little known Swedish singer had it a year before. Seems a lot of pop is actually Scandinavian covers like Jamelia Superstar (and an Israeli singer had that out same time as Jamelia) and Natalie Imbruglia Torn

That's normal. They recycled the demo and used Willa's vocals as backup because Victoria's voice is so weak
That's what they always do.. instead of hiring new background singers which is gonna cost more money to produce.
Those Backing Vocals are from Sherry Ford-Payne, Not Willa, so no, Willa's Vocals aren't in Victoria's version

I think you're wrong I love Victoria's version so much better! Victoria has a beautiful buttery sultry voice! This version feels fuller sounding, but Victoria's is more honest if that makes sense.
