The "breaking in" for those nanoskin's is getting rid of the coating on the outside of the rubber-ish material. If they shipped uncoated, they would lose some life just snagging whatever dust is in the box. For anyone who's really curious.
I do agree to one point, but if only waving the wrist fast, then that will cut the life of Clay bar or Wash Mitt with Nano Clay Skin short in half as well as putting on some pressure on the material. But, if using that as no pressure, and proper hand wrist wave then regular soap will work perfectly, and it wants to be sure, the using Meguiars Gold Class car wash soap, this will work exactly same and guaranteed that will not shorten the life of the Clay Bar, Clay Nano Skin nor will damage the paint.
You guys are really professionals. I really like the way you take care of a car gently and accurately. I have a brand new car and recently what I've noticed is every time after a car wash, it looked like it was not clean (Especially in the night). So I did a research and here I am at Detail King channel. I have a massive amount of water spots, is there something that I can do by myself to remove them without damaging the paint? Thank guys👍
Hi Parviz! Thanks for reaching out. We have a wide variety of chemicals for every aspect of Auto Detailing. To avoid water spots, we recommend using our Spot Spray Water Spot Remover. If you'd like to see it in action, please check out our video here: ruclips.net/video/Urjj0jjUFyA/видео.html
To save money on the lube, I use Meguair's Detailer with water (50/50), then the Meguair's Synthetic Express wax. Twice a year and my car looks great all year long.
very good video but i have a question :-) Can we use the rinse water and the clay lub, both at the same time or should we rinse, dry and pass the clay or the mitt and rince again ?
Does claying 100% remove the wax from the car? Because the panel you just clayed looks like theres no wax left there. Or should I still prewash with a citrus based soap when I want to strip all the old wax?
Minutemadex Thanks so much for your question! Claying can remove wax from your vehicle but we would not recommend using just clay to specifically remove wax since it may not completely strip it all off especially in the tighter areas or crevices. Rubbing alcohol can definitely strip away wax or look into a paint pre cleaning product to quickly strip it down. We'd recommend polishing the vehicle after using doing these processes and then obviously applying another paint protection wax/sealant back onto the paint.
After I clay and spray down, Should I use an IPA or something to clean the rest of the clay and strip any residual wax for the fresh layer Im about to lay down?
hey lovely video. i wish you had also reviewed the clay pad as well. is it safe??? and i needed to know that can we use medium clay bar on super soft black paint??? and you do this baggie test, is it done on dry paint or as you did the wet paint always?
Can you clay bar a car that doesn't have..and has never had a clear coat? We have a 91 Miata with the original paint and it needs some love. Will it make the polish last longer?
daysleeper724 If you're doing any type of work to a vehicle that doesn't have clear coat on it then you really need to be careful you don't remove or break through the paint. If you clay we recommend a light duty and apply very light pressure. Claying will definitely help with your polishing process to make your paint pop out even more. Then be sure to always fools up with a wax or sealant. We recommend STS 3000 - store.detailking.com/car-polymer-paint-sealant
I have put a ceramic coating on my car and recently noticed some water spots from bad / no afterwash drying. Can I use a clay bar to remove those water spots without damaging or removing the ceramic nano coating?
Paradox Thanks so much for your question! Many times it may be good to apply a polish and sealant or wax on your vehicle after claying. The reason being is sometimes depending on how bad the vehicle may be it could leave marring marks on the paint which can easily be cleaned up with a polish. www.detailking.com/store-home/paint-correction-protection/polishes-and-glazes/
Hey man can you clay over factory striping, whether it be the traditional clay bar or the nano mit? Also which one do you prefer the mit or traditional bar? Thanks
I have a C7 Vette with 80% clear wrap/ PPF with some other areas wrapped. Being that I have verry little exposed paint, mainly rear hatch, carbon roof and a portion of the upper rear fenders, what would I actually need to clay, just the paint or the PPF/wrap too?
Hey Robert, It would depend exactly what your end goal was. If you're going to apply a ceramic coating to your wrap, contaminants can still penetrate PPF, so you would want to claybar the wrap. If you're not claying the vehicle in the interest of applying a ceramic, just hitting the exposed paint would be suffice.
@@DetailKing Thanks. I am not seeing a lot of real results yet that point to ceramic being worth it so I am not going down that road. I wasn't sure if the PPF was something that could be cleaned and coated either. I just wash it and am now thinking that it is about time to get a wax. I haven't dealt with the wrap before so i don't want to mess it up.
2 question, I clayed my car the last Saturday and it took me 4 hours to just do the 2 sides and front end, so can you like over-clay the paint? and can you clay plastic's and glass with it?
Craig Cooper you basically clay until you don’t feel any more grit or contamination. If you haven’t coated your vehicle before or haven’t coated it in awhile you may have built up contamination, also different climates can be worst as far as salt-air or even fall-out.
@@DetailKing Few Questions : 1) Do I need to wash the car first heavy prior to do the claying? 2) Do I need to re wash the car after claying different sections? Or cleaning with Micro Fibre cloth would be enough? 3) After applying the clay bar should I use the Compound and Polish and then Wax & wipe? Please let me know. Thank you for all your help and efforts.
Could you just wipe dry with microfiber after claying a panel, instead of rinsing with water? This would allow claying inside garage, and out of the sun. Thanks.
yusuihang - Great question! If you're just using straight water and you don't need to use a heavy duty clay then "yes" it would be ok to just wipe down with a microfiber. Again only if it's not too aggressive of a job.
Detail King That makes sense that you would rinse if your claying is heavy duty and pulling off a lot of contaminants. So for light duty claying, you are saying if you lube with just water, it's OK to wipe dry, but if you use clay lube, you should rinse and not just wipe dry? Thanks.
No, Nanos are only intended to remove environmental fallout in your clear coat. A better alternative would be our Spot Spray: store.detailking.com/water-spot-remover-for-cars
+Skittles Christie Our Spot Spray should be great for removing the water spots. If you need to get any more aggressive then this product then you may need to do some compounding.
+Skittles Christie check out our Spot Spray, it has no acid and is perfect for removing wear spots easily. store.detailking.com/water-spot-remover-for-cars
GOINFINITI Thanks so much for your question! If the lubricant starts to dry up quickly on you then you may want to rinse it down after you clay the area. If not then you can just rinse the whole vehicle down at once.
Thank you for the answer - one more question. I know now you should do this claying process as per requirement (your plastic foil test) but as a general rule of thumb for a daily driver, that is washed and protected with QD each week - would the claying 2-3 times per year be enugh along with good sealant or wax protection afterwards?
GOINFINITI - Great question. About 3 times on a well maintained and protected car should be good, but it really depends on the amount of driving and the surrounding environment the car may face daily. If you do a lot of long distance driving to where bugs, dirt and debris will attach itself more regularly to the vehicle then you may want to clay a little more often. Best thing you can do is every other wash test the surface with the plastic bag to see if you may need to clay or not.
Angela Fox great question! We actually feel that there or benefits to each. Nano Skin can out last traditional clay bars but sometimes Clay Bars maybe able to do a better job on some of your more heavy duty jobs. Both honestly are great and really it may come down to personal preference on this one.
One big difference is that if you drop the Nano you can wash it off and keep going. If you drop the clay it needs to go in the trash. That little puck of clay looks slippery on a vertical surface.
Angela Fox Remember a clay bar can be molded to fit into tight areas that the Nano Skin may not be able to, I think having both in your arsenal would be best and use as needed.
Says "how simple and eay it us to claybar your car" has 12 items in front of him worth maybe $80...that doesn't look simple and easy per your presentation
The bad thing is that the model car is already clean. Also, he doesn't mention how to feel/hear if the paint is clean. Yeah, he uses cellofane but he fails to mention what the difference is or should be. FAIL!
This car went through a whole winter in Pennsylvania and therefore it really needed clayed. Also, we did mention how you can feel and hear the texture of the dirt and debris that is embedded into the clear coat. Maybe you skipped through too fast.

is there any information on how to wash the nano skin afterwards?
Just like your washing towels and hang dry
Nice video. Does either claying process induce marring or hazing which would require a polish?
Thanks
Any time you use a clay bar you will create micro-scratches that we would recommend using a buffer to correct.

do you make an vedio for interior brush ?
at 4:34 is the mitt washable, and reusable, since all the grime is going to be on the clay, how would we reuse it?
You would keep folding it over until there is no more clean part of the clay. At that point you would throw it out and grab a new piece of clay.
Can you show me how it works on a dull surface.

What's the difference between the fine grade and medium grade for the nanoskin
Cole Hickman fine grade for most applications, medium grade for really bad stuff. I wouldn’t touch the medium stuff if you’re not experienced.

really break in on the glass?
