NEWS FLASH, Professor Matter of Fact:
Just because YOU have *NEVER* had a problem / issue ordering from Temu does NOT mean that other customers have had the same experience as you did.
I have NEVER shopped at Temu but I would LOVE to try this website.
My two main issues keeping me from making an order with Temu is ( 1 ) I cannot afford to, just not yet and ( 2 ) althouth I would LOVE to order from Temu, I've heard and / or read too many complaints from customers saying that they would NEVER order from them again.
      That said, I digress . . . . . . moving on . . . . . .
I will decide if I should take a chance and spend money, ( that I *DON'T* have, to begin with ), and make my order.

How I learned to cook rice: Put rice in a bowl or the pot you’re going to cook it in. Keep track of the measurement of the amount of rice you used. Measurements when you are cleaning the rice are not important. You just want to get the starch out of the rice and pick out anything floating that isn’t rice. Put enough water to more than cover and then swirl rice around with your clean hand. Dump that water. Repeat first step. That is your 2nd rinse. After dumping the second amount of water leave as little water in bowl as you can. If you used a bowl, put all of the rice in your pot or rice maker. Whatever much rice you added put 2x that much water in your cooking vessel. You may choose to add butter for taste and good consistency. The size of your pot or rice cooker is important. If your pot it’s too big for the amount of rice you have your rice won’t cook and it will come out hard or even uncooked in some places. If your rice and water are spreading out thinly in your pot that’s where problems arise. I actually learned to fill the pot with the rice up to the first knuckle of my pointer finger then put you clean point of your finger through the rice onto the bottom of the pot. Then put the tip of your finger on the very top of the rice. Then fill with water to the first knuckle of your finger again. Bring it to a boil. Don’t have the heat really high. Watch it sort of closely. When it boils, turn down the heat. Add the lid to the pot but, allow a little opening for the heat to escape. When there’s no more steam coming out check for doneness. You want all of the water to have evaporated. A rice cooker cuts out watching it. I hope I explained it well enough for you to follow.

@@AtHomeWithQuita Asian here and been cooking rice since I was 7 - but we always use a rice cooker (I have only used a pot to cook rice a couple times in my life). What Vickie said is exactly how we wash our rice - the process doesn't take more than 2 minutes tops and I wash it 3, 4 times. Don't have to rinse it till the water is clear, we only wash it to get rid of excess starch and bits of husks or weevils (if the rice has been stored for too long). If the rice that you buy is clean anyway there's no reason to wash it many times, maybe just once for peace of mind.
Also the 2:1 ratio is not always true - there's different types of rice that take in different ratios of water. Even within the same type of rice there's "old rice" and "new rice". I've always found Japanese/short-grained rice to require way less water (1:1.5 tops). If the rice was just harvested (new rice) it also takes way less water to cook. As a rule I rather use less water than necessary because once rice has turned mushy there's little to save it :(
Hope this helps and I just wanted to say how much I love your hauls - you give us so much inspiration for organizing things! Also you get the cutest, absolutely CUTEST things too! That transparent retro pouch, that cute pocket mirror??? omg~

@@AtHomeWithQuita Keep washing rice. It's full of arsenic. 4 rinses in cold water. Then get to boil, dump that water, start again, get to boil, dump that water. Then third time let it boil and finish cooking. That way, you can get rid of up to 60% of the arsenic.
Because it's such a hassle, I do a lot at a time and then dehydrate it. Then I have about a years worth of minute rice ready for whenever I want rice. Works perfectly for me.
Do all the hassle at one time, saves a ton of time at the other end.

My husband is Indian, so eats a lot of rice, sometimes we cook it every day. Washing it then leaving it to soak 10 mins in warm water definitely improves it. Not washing it leaves more of the starch powder it naturally has, so the grains don’t separate as easily. Soaking it makes the grains helps the grains fluff up more. We use a rice cooker which is soooo easy. Wash in rice cooker bowl, soak for ten mins then pour out as much water as you can. Add however many cup of rice you use in water, then add an extra cup of water. Put on to cook. Once done turn off, stir roughly to loosen grains. Then put lid on for another 5 mins. This allows steam to further separate grains and fluff them up. We always have really fluffy separated rice. Chinese dishes often work better with slightly sticky short grain rice. But Indian 100% fluffy basmati rice.

This is my first time watching your Chanel. It would have been nice with some of th items like the towel, soap to demonstrate how it works. As for the rice from a hygienic point of view you should always wash rice b4 you cook it as it has been through so many processes and hands before it is put in a bag or sack to be sold. Also it has a lot of starch which you need to wash out. Rice can become sticky if you put too much water when cooking it. It also depends on the type of rice you use basmati vis long grain. Since I discovered basmati rice I never buy long grain. I cup of rice to 2 cups of water. Loads of video on RUclips on how to cook rice.

I've never rinsed my rice, and neither has my mother who has been cooking since she was 7, and worked in many kitchens, some of which she was the head cook. We've never had sticky or clumpy rice. I've heard from so many chefs that washing your rice is just a preference. There's no Have To about it either way. Wash it if you want, or don't wash it if you don't want to. It's a matter of preference.

Hi there, first time watching your videos. Loving your haul, I do love the asm style. As for the rice, we cook them daily. We rinse them at least three times. We keep them in the pot, not in a stained. We cook the rice soon after, if you let it sit, it’ll get mushy. After your last rinse, level your rice and add your water. Measure the water up to the first line of your middle finger with the tip of your middle finger to the top of the rice. I hope that makes sense. If you try this, I hope it works out for you. In Hawaii, some of us cook our rice this way. 😊

  • @danielleLaw007
    @danielleLaw007 5 месяцев назад

Ok rice must always be washed. Always! Use long grain, sticky rice is often for short grain rice. Drain out water then what I love to do for perfect fluffy rice is fill pot of rice with water the manual measurement of water to rice ratio is with your index finger put your finger into the pot of level rice and just at the tip of the rice level with your finger make sure the water level is in line with the second line on your index finger and the rice is level with the tip of your finger. (Always use cold water).
Pinch of salt, cover with lid on high cook til the water is bubbling down but not below or on the rice level but bubbling to a boil just above the rice about 3cms. Take one grain bite into it, texture should be Al Dènte. Stir twice. Then turn heat down to low and leave lid on. Should be throughly cooked in 10 to 15mins.

For your rice, pour a teaspoon of oil in the water when you put them on the stove, don't cover it, and after you've rinsed, leave only a little bit of water just to cover the bottom and steam dry with lid on.

The rice should be rinsed several times in order to get the excess strength out. When the water is no longer milky, it can be boiled in the usual rice water ratio. The more strength remains in the rice, the stickier it becomes.

Always wash rice to removes excess starch. Wash until water runs fairly clear, then leave to soak 10 mins in warm water (this helps it fluff up) pour off as much water as easy to do so without losing rice. A rice cooker is easiest way to do perfect rice. Equal cups of water to rice plus one extra water. Once cooking finished it will switch to warmer only. Best to switch off here, or at least stir, which causes steam to fluff up and separate grains. Also any remaining water can then easily be absorbed. Remember the type of rice makes a difference too. Short grain rice is generally slightly more sticky, whereas basmati tends to be less so with grains a bit more separate. My husband is Indian, and eats a lot of rice, so sometimes we can make it daily. We found microwave rice cooker good, although you need a microwave tall enough to fit it in. Also put it on a plate as sometimes it overflows with the water a bit. Otherwise an electric rice cooker is 100% our preferred method. So much less hassle. They range from really cheap to more expensive. We have one of cheapest ones. You can get small ones as well, for single people. We often add a bit of salt and frozen peas before cooking. Which kids love as they have that with some melted mozzarella over the top as a snack.
Funny Americans wash chicken, wish health and hygiene specialists will always tell you never to do. I’m surprised they are not familiar with washing rice, which all chefs agree you should.

I’ve ordered from TEMU one time and it took two weeks for my items to come. The items came in multiple packages at multiple different days and times. And some of the items were not up to Amazon standards. I purchased a broom and dustpan combo, I love the concept but it is so cheaply made, that I will definitely have to repurchase it from some place else.

My Mimi-in-law taught me to cook rice this way and I’ve literally never had one problem and my rice no matter how much I cook has come out perfect every single time…
The only thing you measure out is how much rice you will need.
Nothing special about rinsing.. rinse the rice really good (in a mesh-type strainer by running water and stirring it until the water is clean).
Here is where it’s way different…
Boil water, plenty of water, (like if you were to be boiling water for spaghetti noodles. So a ton of water. You will never have to much water…)
Once the water is boiling and your rice is rinsed, pour your rice into the boiling water and stir once or twice.
Once it’s back at a boil, turn it down to where it’s just barely boiling but not at a simmer and cover with a lid leaving a little crack. And stir occasionally.
Rice will be done in about 20 minutes but the first 2 time, you can always taste the rice to make sure it’s done.
    Everyone’s stove top is different.
The easiest and idiot-proof to make perfect rice EVERY SINGLE TIME.

You don't wash your rice before cooking it because putting water on a dry object (rice) starts the hydration/cooking process which will effect your cooking time. While the rice is boiling, you can skim some of the starch off (the foamy stuff) and stir it every few minutes. I've been doing it that way for about 37 yrs 😊

It's been a year since you posted this, but a suggestion would be buying the q-tips from the store and just using a little baggie to keep them clean. The excess plastic on each individual makes my heart hurt. :( And about those soap on the go pieces, Olay just came out with face washes like this. I used them on a cruise so I didn't have to bring a heavy bottle. They're great and work well...Amazon has them.

Get a rice cooker! I eat rice every day, and used to do it on the stove top and HATED IT. I finally decided to buy a rice cooker, and seriously wish I'd bought one years ago! I do wash my rice until the water is almost clear. Rice is starchy and that is what makes the rice sticky. Rinsing several times basically trying to get as much of the starch off as your can. I use a slotted spoon to agitate the rice to rinse it a little quicker. Since it's just me eating I don't do a big batch. For me, it's 1c Basmati rice (my favorite) to 1 3/4 c water. When the rice is done, my cooker switches from cook to warm. I do have to unplug it to shut it off, but it's no big deal. It's easy to clean and stores easily in my cabinets. What I like best is I don't have to babysit the rice on the stove, and the rice comes out nice and fluffy every time.

Why you doing this to me?" So I had to make a 2nd order. Then today same thing happened, and I was like "nope, waiting till next go around". But why can't you favorite anything on pc now? I had to screenshot stuff so I would remember what I want to order next time..

I like those ideas to make to go bags but instead of using it for yourself. Make or place one or a couple of those items in individual little containers or pill box. Like the towel, soap, and other items give out as disaster relief bags personally to durvivors instead of giving to fema, red cross, and the other scam that pocket money for their higher ups and give pocket change to actual victims. My classmates collected bags or used purses and filled them with items and handed them out to Hurricane Harvey surviors. I Know the hurricane season is here. Especially in California that was a once in a lifetime event. And now the depression in Florida
