Diagnosing cars and having fun with family. That's what its about. These videos are now as humourous as they are educational. Thanks for sharing Paul,Caleb and Danner.
Scan tools that run on Android and/or are made in China, tend to ask lots of seemingly redundant information.... Real experience is the best teacher! Thanks for sharing YOUR experience!
Im a young audi technician. I wanna learn diagnostics and this is best place to get that information and the skills. I have learned so much and want to keep learning. By the way got my SD masks, shirt and stickers. Thanks Paul for everything you do. Best channel on youtube. Great review on the autel
Great video as always! Hey Danner, you should have used the Autel tool a long time ago. Overall it does MUCH more than any Snap-on tool out there, if you get to know how to use it. It can code and match junkyard PCMs, program keys, program BCM's and radios, pull PIN codes, and much more!. That's why it asks you for the RPO code of the radio. I use it to adjust the mileage on junkyard Instrument Clusters using the EEPROM reader of the IM608 tool kit. The IM608 comes with a buiilt-in J2534 programmer. The Snap-on does no such thing. You need a separate J-box to program. BTW the factory GM tool also asks you for the RPO code of the engine. But if a mechanic is not knowledgeable enough to know where the RPO codes are, then he should have no business fixing your car with a scanner. The only thing that I like of the Snap-on is that it has built-in connector pin-outs. The Autel is much less expensive than the Snap-on, and the Snap-on tools updates are much more expensive than the Autel updates. I've made a lot of money from mechanics who have a Snap-on and are unable to code such simple things as a PCM or a key switch, or a radio. The Autel is excellent at coding. Use the Autel for a year and you'll put aside your Snap-on eventually. It'll grow on you.
Greetings from Venezuela. I really liked to see your happy face when I saw your diagnostic team. Many happiness. I always see your videos with a translator. A thousand blessings for you and your family.
Thank you Paul for everything you do for your students and your community cheers from Australia
Thank you Danners Trio. Love the math editing with the flying equations. Severe brain pain. Good job. Have a blessed and safe week to you and your families.
Scanner Danners channel is one of the BEST diagnostic channels out there. And yes his premium channels is GREAT as always.Keep up the FANTASTIC work you are doing to help others.God Bless
Thanks so much for the Premium mention and your kind words
@@ScannerDanner just telling the truth.
Love the community support , love the channel , I can't learn enough Keep up the great work , Shout out to Autel , have the 906 MaxiSys TS , love it !
Congratulations SD👍
What an awesome device to work with, Autel really has raised the bar, & in your hands it's not less than a machine gun😉
Special thanks to Caleb, awesome work Bro & James Danner love your coordination guy's👍
Stay Safe Guy's❤
I have been testing this new Autel and have to say I like it. It is HUGE! The only thing I don't like is the scope in the VCI. That may be the reason it goes back. It asks you all those questions to identify the systems because in modern cars you should be doing a full system scan. You quickly clicked the checkbox that disables it going into that screen by default. Great video as usual and Caleb is an editing animal!🦁
Great video, editing is getting better all the time. I loved the zooming in on the stop button, haha.
Great teaching videos, and a big thanks, for all the effort and hard work the whole Danner family team put into the channel, I always come away from your tutorials clearly understanding the automotive subject fault analysis and diagnosis, and then a continued follow up, to the process of resolving a repair. Regards to you all
No no your videos are not to long.....wow what a great tool delivery!
For a company to so highly regard you input, and then send you one, would seem to say that you are considered a top notch diagnostic technician. Keep up the great work, and classes and videos. Stay safe. And THANK YOU for a super channel!
love what you guys are doing with the channel.
Danner need to tell your brother to also replace intake manifold that’s the main cause of the pcv valve going bad... the new valve cover will last maybe a year & it will be back again same problem
Main cause is another missing or bad lil diaphragm center of intake manifold assembly only way to see it is to take off intake look down into the center port should be a orange flapper you’ll see on New Intake assembly
And it will be clogged or missing on old intake
So does the new intake have an improved design or are you potentially replacing it knowing that it will just break again?
No it’s the same design
When I replace them they look no different than the original part that failed
That’s GM’s way of getting you back in the door
I work for gm for over 7 years we always changed just the valve cover and never 1 come back with the same problem and never heard the intake manifold cause it to go bad, most i see is lack of the maintenance and high kms
Wittawat Janthawong they had a bulletin on SI for changing both components but for some reason GM revised it and now it can’t be found
@@UNEEK_LOGIK I noticed that also. I found a Bulletin yesterday showing the Valvecover is under a special coverage that was released last year.
Caleb is now the star of this channel. I’m sure dad is so proud of him. Parts changers better get here and SD premium and learn automotive diagnostics.
😉 he sure is! Thank you my friend
Congrats Paul, you have addition of new toy on you bank of tools. Looks impressive thing.
Sweet Autel P0171 video! All your videos are cool with the hands on real world approach.
Snapon is so much more user friendly in everyday applications. But there are some tests that the Autel and launch have that snappy doesn’t have.
Having said that. Sometimes launch and Autel will list tests that simply doesn’t work. Where as with Snapon if it list a test it works.
Wow it feels like Christmas 🎄 what a neat new toy Scanner Danner. Can hardly wait to see what that bugger can do.
Who needs a $10,000 scanner when you got your brothers thumb. Lol
Great scanner cool video buddy
Before sir dan i didn't know how to read Fuel Trim , now its easy to me to interpret that number negative or positive number , thanks for your video about fuel trim it takes about 40 mins if i remember , i repeat watching that 3 times and pause some clip to think why it happen , thanks for that 👍
11:14 in, and I'm just now learning that this is about fuel trims? Love It!! Kept me hanging on for 11:14 b4 getting to the good stuff, lol.
HAHAHA 😃😃😃WTF
For all of you out there who are thinking about joining the premium channel,I think I have been a member for 3 to 4 years now,and there is no better way to learning auto Diagnostics then on Scannerdanner.trust me when I say no regrets.
That's a long time! Thank you so much my friend. Most people don't understand what is actually there. I even forget sometimes how much content there is 😁.
Nice video team Danner and beautiful new tool.
Geeez the production quality skyrocketed! AWESOME!
That's my son Caleb's contributions. Thank you!
26:50 36:38 this is fun! looking forward to the next one, feels like its me and some one going through this stuff together, caleb and the super fancy video stuff adds a lot of flavor to it, thanks for taking us along! can totally vouch for premium if you have absolutely zero idea of whats going on, books only get you so far but in terms of premium classes with the videos walking through this and showing the application, its great! i might not be a very experienced mechanic but i feel like i know a lot more than the other guy, thanks again!
Thanks to much Matt!
Dude bless your heart - new tools and its the car i drive. The pcv system in there has also a component in the intake manifold and a hose that goes back to turbo. (3 x critical parts) the valve cover blows because of the missing pink check valve in the intake manifold. Just lettin' ya know because i follow your motto don't be a parts changer!!! i only change what is necessary to avoid come backs (me in that case hahaha)
Sweet !
I just got one too!! I will learn with the Legendary Scanner Daaaaannerrrrrrrr!
Well deserved, it won’t take you long maximize the full potential of this scanner that’s for sure
I love Autel scanners. Currently using a ms908. Its my go to scanner.
My finger was hovering over the premuim purchase until i saw your math 😁😁.
But really thanks so much came here to get some info on Autel and had no idea you where about to solve the problem on my buddies car with the vacume leak, he also thought serpentine belt problem from that noise so now I get to look like a wizard. Haha. You got a new fan here and can't wait to view your classes.
Just got my Autel MS906bt from AESwave a couple weeks ago and so far I’m liking the tool. I was considering the Snap-On Modis but it’s too expensive for me so i went with Autel. I now need a scope...probably I’ll get a Pico.
barometer is used to check atmospheric pressure during operation for altitude and also validates the output of the intercooler in relation to MAF readings and MAP. (both of these are multi-sensors) Anyways, pcm checks tables and verifies if what's being reported checks out. The barometer also is used to select operating conditions such as precipitation / expectation of humidity and so on. The performance of this car is all over the place and is worthy of many deep case studies. (Especially fuel trims that lead you on wild goose chases especially at idle)
I think the impromptu unboxing and usage is good, because it shows what everyone will go through to learn it initially, unless they have lot's of free time to read the manuals and play days in advance, like the other unboxing reviewers ;)
Nice team work Scanner Danners🙏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👌👌✌and thank you for the video
Another great video guys, I have to agree with you about the Autel wanting various info to identify the vehicle being a pain and I think the snap-on verus is so much better in this department but saying that and having used both tools I prefer the Autel overall ...... 👍
Hi Paul, two month into the premium channel and loving it.
As we share the same math skills i hope i'll get in a year 10% of your diagnostic skills 😉
Thank you so much! Appreciate having you there.
Love your videos. Currently working through the premium. I’m not what you’d classify me as. I’ve been heavy into diagnostics but want the technical side of it all. Where I am now I am the diagnostic guy. Behind the curve with scope work, but I’ve made the investments and work allows me to stay late and get ot learning with the new tools. So I’m always excited for new content.
Thanks so much for your support!
The math!! Hilarious! Good job Caleb! I used to be good at math but now I’m a car nerd (still learning), can’t do math anymore lol! Been following you for a while and also a premium subscriber. Great video!
Thanks so much!
Another Great video thanks for sharing my friend
I cant tell if I watch your videos for the info or because Caleb cracks me up anymore.... yall both are awesome. Lol
Haha just read this to Caleb!
I use Autel a lot, i had the original MaxiDas, MaxiSys , and the one I have now MaxiSys TS and it is a great tool for the price, The Ultra is out of my budget for now, but it looks great.
Thank you Danner 😉👍
Gracias paul for all
Just received maxisys elite and i like it. And a good obd2 breakout box
Ha....You're video editing by Caleb is hilarious. Makes it easier to watch you guys acting real and relaxed. The equations floating in your math and "the clap" was spot on. Keep it up. Thanks Team Danner
You made me laughing like hell danner when you were doing math 🤣🤣🤣🤣
That is one hell of a great tool! I didn't realize how big that screen is...holy crap!
That's definitely a cool setup and I REALLY love all the stuff provided with it Paul 👌
Really looking forward to seeing you utilze this in future videos!
That's wicked fast compared to the older models too!
You're going to love that thing for it's Bidirectional control capabilities that Snap-On lacks alot of times. Don't get me wrong Snap-On kills it when it comes to graphing, but it lacks in the Bidirectional department at times.
I think the Autel asks you more on system options because it can do alot more in areas other tools cannot, however it is annoying when getting it up and running 😄
Purge Valve Bidirectional control capabilities don't stand a chance now man 😄😄😄
Your son is killing it on the editing man!
😂😂 purge valve 🤮
Thanks Nathan! I'll tell Caleb too
Great video guys !
Wish i had one like yours keep up the good work
Danner, thanks for the information! Regardes from Chihuahua, Mexico
Thay ask me things that I don’t know. . What a wonderful way to Describe the problem
Lovely tool!
Hey guys I'm a Diyer and its worth every dime. Been subscribed for a few years and have no intensions of ending it . Well worth it go for it. Good video again Paul and Caleb. Even got the name correct finally stay well Artie ❤️
Thank you my friend!
Wow that thing is sweeeet! Worked out good that I waited to upgrade the scan tool, buy a scope, and J-box. Now I'll be waiting some more, since my iMac is crapping out - glitchy, slow, hanging - reminding me of all the PC's I've had over the years! Always something around here ... but thanks for sharing that, Paul! 👍🍻
I had a '16 Cruze in here 3 years ago with that chirping sound! Replaced whole valve cover and it went away. That has to be one of the worst cars GM has ever produced. Thing had 50k on it - PCV junk, parking brake junk, wiper problems, window problems, and probably more the second it left here. The owners wisely dumped it a couple years ago. What an industry! 😵
Hi , just got the e book thank you so much SD . steve
Thank you so much!
Wow autel so cool to sent you a scanner like that.
I have a Autel DS808, just the cheap scanner, it works pretty good but I’m definitely going to upgrade In the future. I recently took a job that allows me to work Wednesday-Friday and still support my family, so I’m going to try to get something going on the side. Nice video, and very nice of Autel to send you the full setup, they must know that’s the best advertisement they could get. Slap a nice big juicy hunk of tool in front of an audience that loves buying diagnostic tools 😂
Also I had to show my wife your “TODAY JR!” She says that all the time. I think you gained a fan.
Haha awesome! Love that movie and quote it all the time too
Hey Paul I did one of these recently on a 2012 cruze , in New Zealand that part is $1180 , so 4 weeks later and $100 from the states all good. Keep up the good work guys
$1180!! Talk about price gouging
It is ridiculous for customers to pay prices like that . I wish I was in the states where prices are reasonable.
That's a good thing you are doing with the AES Grants. My shop doesn't push your type of Diags, so won't purchase a scope. I might hit you up when I get back to work. If I supply my own scope, maybe they will start looking at the future of auto repair.
The VCMI stands for Vehicle Communication & Measurement Interface. It’s a 4 ch oscilloscope, volt meter and signal generator. It has an internal battery. It is also a J box for flashing the PCM. It can communicate via WiFi, Bluetooth or wired. You can use auto vin if mode 9 is supported. You can also take a picture with the internal camera and the vin will be deciphered via optical character recognition. This tool also has an improved guided diagnostics. You can see a topology of the network and the can high and can low signals directly on the screen without a breakout box.
I've been using Autels for years. IMHO they're far more thorough than any other scantool. The reason why Autel is asking for specific engine code IS because the Autel is more detailed. Use it long enough and you'll start to see that there a lot of things that the Snap-on won't do that Autel will.
I like Autel, but no one scan tool can win them all. I found Snap On couldn't touch a Honda key reprogram, but then had to walk away from Autel in favor of Snap On because the Autel couldn't function very well in many Ford PATS key functions. What does surprise me, is how many people don't get along with an Autel J2534 pass through. Autel was always my go to for Chrysler reflashes. All that aside, at least Autel actively works to improve on itself.
This is the same thing the GM factory scan tool, GDS2 will ask you when Identifying a vehicle.
Usually don’t comment on things, but like the videos great work sir. And that is a Chevy Cruze
a cobalt colored Cruze 😂
Lol fixed! Thank you
My turn is coming soon for alltel lol. Thanks S. D
I feel autell is doing great things
Hi Paul. I have a question. Have you ever used the Escope from ATS? i know you use the Pico and its great. I'm planning to buy a new scope & I can't decide which one. If u ever used the Escope let me know what do u think & what do you think about the Pico..Thank you
Love your content. You’re a god
Awesome Beard Man
I imagine the scope has separate built in multi meter for a few reasons. First you can preform Diode tests & measure continuity - which you can not measure with oscilloscope. Also a multi meter will give you a RMS value, rather that the oscilloscope peak to peak value. Not so much an issue with a battery DC source, as the voltage line is flat (so peak to peak & RMS = the same). But when viewing rectified AC (be it half wave or full wave, with or with out smoothing capacitors/inductor), there will always be some level of wave, which means you need to use RMS to to calculate the value (some oscilloscopes have this feature under their measuring options).
This can be seen if you were to measure an outlet socket. I believe in the states your supply is 120VAC 60HZ. If you measured with a oscilloscope and put cursors to show the delta value between the most negative and positive points of the sinusoidal wave, the voltage would show something like 200VAC peak to peak. Where as if you use a multi meter which is RMS, it will show you the correct value of 120VAC. RMS is used as the voltage is varying and not a fixed value like from a battery, which is fixed as it is a chemical reaction.
That kit looks awesome - I'm a sucker for a good box!
Take care Paul
I was thinking other things like reducing under hood diagnostic tool clutter and the multi function, multi window availability on the face of that giant tablet. It's something Snap On had the right idea with on their Verus and newer scan tools. Think about being able to watch for a voltage drop the same time you're commanding a solenoid on with a scan tool on one screen. It's all about getting it done faster while you're under the hood. I hope Autel gets this right.
Hey Paul the GM 1.4 LUV it the turbo the other is not ... you can just look at the cluster RPM gauge it will say engine stop below 100 rpm . The radio you can just select any to get you past it unless you are doing something with the radio hope this helps love your videos thank you 🙏
The autel is not good with identifing GM’s from the vin. But on other cars that i work on it usually gets it the first time. Even a 94 BMW that i scanned with the obd1 connector it identified it the first time :)
What i dont like about the autel is that the live data and the car manufacturers that you can choose from are not in alphabetic order! Very frustrating sometimes you have to scroll through a very big list of data pids to find the ones you want to see
Danner ya era hora uses autel quiero verte trabajar con el sienpre 👍👍
Damn man, Autel just sends you a $5500 scanner/scope package.!! Luck you.!!
How much is the yearly update
clarence williams less than 800
Check the o-ring on the oil cap also. I've seen many of these have bad oil cap o-rings and then your ft get better but not completely fixed. Also the Evap Purge Valve will not completely shut and also cause a vacuum leak. I've literally had some of those come in with all three faulty.
There is also a small diaphragm in the intake manifold that goes bad causing the ruptured pcv in the valve cover, at least on a 1.4L turbo eng 2011 not sure if they redesigned the intake on the 2016's
Had this issue with my 07 Mercedes E320 Bluetec: bad plastic diaphragm inside the EGR valve body that cause all sorts of ghost codes until I replaced the part, which I ordered direct from Germany and saved about $80. Got weird MAF codes until I cleared everything after part replacement. Note this was a diesel so your frustration may vary.
Paul thinking about buying the Ms 906 bt autel scanner any head's up would helpful .... What makes the price difference on the same unit defferent from each other .
I own a european Vauxhall with the same exact engine... it´s mechancaly durable but PCV system is one thing that drives you crazy....
There is a rubber check valve inside the intake manifold that is also part of the PCV system
and which you should check as well ...it regulates crank case pressure and when it is broken, boost pressure will enter the crank case which will rupture the diaphragm in the valve cover again in 2 days... the diaphragm is like a burst disk that issuppused to rupturebefore you blow out all the seals
Hey danner? I have the maxysis elite. And that one has the option of AUTOMATIC identification car make and model...
The factory scan tool asks those same questions. Autel likes to mimic the factory scan tools. It makes it a little more difficult for independent techs but it is also why Autel will perform some of the functions that the other scanners won't. Many others like Snapon and Launch try to make it more uniform across all car lines but I feel like a lot of function gets lost in the process.
And Autel covers far more than just the US versions of vehicles. So because the Cruze is sold in multiple countries with entirely different drivelines, the Autel covers them all. Snap On only covers the vehicles sold in the country the tool is sold in. So a US tool has the US versions, Go to England and you will not find those vehicles in the menu.
The math! Too funny.... lmfao
Wating for more, scooping with autel, specially Sylinder pressure
The Pcv valve issue looks exactly like the issue with late 00’s Opel vectra’s in Europe (small gm engine)
Welcome to ScannerDanner Variety Hour..... best dog & pony show since a Letterman retired!
Can this tool pull pin codes for the immobilizer for chysler vehicles
The threshold for delta MAP was exceeded during the baro test. And too much vacuum? Sounds like a part designed to cut down on the puff of smoke from the exhaust when you let off the gas with an engine with a lot of blowby, or excessive oil in the intake manifold.
What scanner do you recommend for diy automotive repair
Hey Paul!. Thanks for this review I've been considering buying a MS919 wich is a step below the ultra. Can you get the information about the yearly subscription?. I can't find it anywhere and i would love to know before buying. Btw i got the printed version of your book and I'm subscribed to the premium channel. This is my first week studying to raise that diagnostic game!. Thank you for everything you do to this community.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it and I'll try to find out that information for you. In the mean time, the videos I linked from my friend Chad of Autel? He would definitely be able to answer that question for you.
EXCELLENT. SCANNY.
Saludos maestro buen scaner máster
Thank you for posting this vid! Especially since I am leaning towards an Autel scanner. No snap-on budget. Who do you recommend for online manual/diagnostic info? Wiring diagrams?
ShopKey or Mitchell on-demand
Just curious as to how you are doing the screen capture? Is it a feature built in?
Check the intake to make sure the little red check valve is still there. It’s probably gone and it’s usually the reason the diaphragm in the valve cover got damaged. If that check valve is missing and you replace the valves cover it will bust the diaphragm again.
the ECM compares baro and map sensor when you turn on the key and constantly calculates the baro during engine operation. If the difference between measured baro and calculated baro is too large, it will set a DTC..... I can not tell you how it exactly does the calculation but it seems to involve the MAP and MAF sensor...now that their values are screwed up due to the vacuum leak, it also screws up the baro calculation. This ECU does a complete engine simulation in the background to monitor itself and the engine
Fascinating how close it is: it calculates oil temperature which is used for the oil life monitor.. I measured the oil temperature for a few days and the gap between measured and calculated oil temp is less than 5 degrees, avg 2-3...awesome
Can in cylinder waveform analysis be performed with the scope using a wps 500 and delta transducers?
I'm sure
"Cobalt" and I had faith into scanner Danner! LoL
Hope to see that autel on more videos. That's an affordable tool. For us that cant afford a snap on one. And especially in Central America people won't pay that much. So gotta stay on the low
I hope he replaced the intake on that Cobalt too, it has a little tiny part that becomes dislodged allowing for excessive vacuum to that pcv valve diaphragm and consequently breaking it
I'm going to need a scan tool really soon, what is a good one from autel in the 2-3000 range that has obd adaptors like the bmw adaptors old and new?
Email me at support@scannerdanner.com and I'll forward this to my friend Carlos from AESwave
He can help guide us. Thanks!
