- There are some people who don't think a 1.8T motor is capable of idling completely smooth. The purpose of the video is to simply debunk that idea.
This car has 150,000+ miles on it and it idles factory smooth. If your 1.8T does not idle smooth, chances are you have a vacuum leak.
idle is perfectly smooth. That is the point of the video.
im gonna have to change mine because my idle is all over the place, plus i noticed some leakage signs around the injector inserts. Great post!
I had cyl#1 and #4 leaking today. They were whistling pretty bad and I was really lean at idle and super rich at wot. It would also idle around 1400rpms(sometimes), die when coming to a stop, and just ran like shit. When I sprayed maf cleaner on them my car wanted to die, so that's how I narrowed it down. Technically all it took was pulling the rail and all injectors, using a pick to pull out my orings that fell into the intake manifold and put assembly lube on them. I do believe because they're 630cc's with top hats they were just too far in. I pushed them as far into the rail as I could and this time around they sat in the seat about 2.5mm's higher. I also have new seats so that did not contribute.
I changed the injector seals, cleaned the throttle body, changed the intake manifold seal and sparkplugs. My car still doesn't idle well.
My seals are ordered, injectors next, they are 25 yeRs old...
totally irrelevant video
Yeah a before and after with a live feed to RPMs on Vagcom would had been nice. Hell my original ones on my 2002 idles the same as this video.
