you know snails from swamp cave on the island are tamable aswell right ? just lure it outside with rare flower... if somebody program it TWICE isnt a bug my man...
We have 60 base stat wolves from doing this lol. They arent very useful but we added them to our "museum" along with the lvl 300 achatina's you could tame in the caves on SE.
the gigantoraptor has to be higher level then the creature you wanna claim. so that already throws out low level gigantoraptors for use due to the direwolves being up to lv 300, also they need 100% taming effectiveness or being bred by you. Adding this to the 88 extra levels. So the ideal Graptor to use would be a breed thats at least lv 212 at birth + 88 levels of xp so you end up at least on lv 300

my highest so far was 80hp and 86 melee. maybe they gonna be useful someday after a tlc

no other babies sadly, and the forest cave doesnt have higher level spawns so I dunno if it would be worth it
