  • Erna Sack
    Vocal Type: Soprano Ultraleggero Coloratura.
    Vocal range: Bb3 - C7 (3 octaves and 1 tone)
    Erna Sack was a great german singer, and as a child her voice attracted attention both at school and in the church choir in which she sang.
    She received her first break aged 30, when the wife of conductor Bruno Walter happened to hear her at one of her lessons and persuaded her husband, who was then the musical director at the Berlin State Opera, to audition her.
    I'm sorry!!! At the end I wrote "Coloraura" and the right is "Coloratura".
    Sorry for this!!!

      +Trio Channel contralto is the correct term. alto is on used in chorales and ensembles which mezzo soprano and contralto sing in alto but alto is not a term to describe someone's voice just a part sung in a group or choir.

      +zazuka it's a Bb3 depending on which notation is used. In another notation, it could be a Bb4 if you're counting octaves starting at A, but for the most part, mostly everyone uses the one that starts at C.

    Nice singing and very high pitched voice, but weak volume and lack of sustained SINGING in the very high notes, unlike Mado Robin. Robin had her own defects, but her high notes were totally unapproachable.

    Quite a weak voice, and lacking in the precision I would generally expect of an operatic singer who was considered a coloratura. Also, the whistle register break is lacking in seamlessness that I would again expect (that first F#6 clip makes it really obvious with the register switch). Honestly, I would expect much better from a name that's this renowned.

    • @Fbalino
      @Fbalino 10 лет назад +13

      I think her vocal ability is magnificent. Her ability to sustain high notes softly is unlike anything I've seen. Perhaps it sounds weak to you because of the older recordings? Erna would masterfully hit notes without even slightly deviating from pitch. Something I sometimes don't see in modern opera singers (not that they lack ANY talent whatsoever!). Also, her Voices of Spring introduction is unmatched.

    • @AtlanticGiantPumpkin
      @AtlanticGiantPumpkin 10 лет назад +6

      The reason her whistle tone sounds soft is because that's the thing about whistle tone. To be able to have one and sing very loud and supported (or to even have one at all) is extremely rare. The point of the whistle tone in general is that it is so high that people can sing it, but it's in a part of the voice that can only make this sound like a chipmunk or whistle sound.
