Ooh, that's a neat idea! :D Cherries have a really strong pigment, from my experience. Grapes aren't the best, but they can lighten or darken the color you're using ^_^
He probably thought that you liked him, try talking to him if you like him. If you don't just forget that happened. If you want you can talk to him saying that it was just a sketch or some other excuse. Hope this helped. ❤️
My boyfriend told me about this time he was drawing strangers in the park and a scruffy (kind of creepy) old man noticed, went over to the girl he was drawing and said "hey, he's drawing you" ;) and walked away proudly like he just started an everlasting relationship between them. She got creeped out and left and he was just annoyed. Drawing people is intimate but not in a romantic way like people always seem to think XD More in a personal-learning experience way...
I cheated on my first coffee painting. The layers weren't darkening as well for my shadows on my watercolor paper, so I used a little bit of brown watercolor. :p
+Doodle Date You're so very welcome! You guys always make my day but everytime I watch it with my german/swiss friends and my little cousin they can't understand anything, so I thought I'd translate it so they can enjoy this as well! Thank you two for making these videos, you guys are so positive and sweet, and you're always inspiring me to go to some art myself on sundays :)
AW that is so sweet of you, we seriously appreciate it so much! I always try my hardest to provide the English subtitles because I know our accent's can be quite strong for people that aren't local to where we're based. (I used to work customer service in London and it wasn't uncommon for people to say they have no idea what "language I'm speaking" HAHA.) It's really heartwarming to have such a supportive community of people that help bridge these barriers ;u;
a little Tip :)). Get an Espresso ( i hope they are called like this in English, I'm not an native speaker), put a little bit of Espresso coffee on the plate and let it dry a bit. Then you can go in with liquid coffee and make the dry coffee liquid again. this way, the colour is more pigmented! I rly like painting with coffee and my pentel waterbrush! I hope I could help you and that you understand my bad english skills ;). Love your Channel!!! greetings Lara
For the record, it's nice to hear you two talk about how you don't drink coffee . . . because I work in a coffee shop, and I don't drink it either! I prefer decaf teas, because caffeine throws me off my groove. That's what I would do, then, is make an image out of tea. I like to drink it in the evenings, though I always struggle to finish it off sometimes. The last cool sips of it would make great paints. (And since I get special teas, i.e. herbal and fruit and rooibus, I could get a lot of different colors. Just saying. ;)) Also, Adam: the bitter aftertaste is why I think people add sugar to coffee. There aren't a ton of people who just drink it black. #confessionsofacoffeebarista
TJ Metamorphosis same here though my limited caffeine us a health condition but I never liked it really anyway so when they said quit coffee I said yes my half a cup of week okay
I love painting with coffee and do it rather often. Here are some of my tips and tricks: 1- For a stronger colour, get a denser coffee or a darker blend. I love using espresso. An Americano brewed with a dark roast gives me a shade lighter than espresso, but darker than a medium or blonde roast. 2- Layer up. This might be the most important tip, in my opinion. Instead of puddling the coffee to get a darker colour, try to get a thin layer and add more when it dries. A thin layer usually dries fairly quickly. By the time you're done doing the first layer throughout the whole drawing, the spot where you started is most likely ready for a second layer. 3- Also on layers, they give the drawing a cool texture. It looks as if neutral watercolour and old parchment joined forces. Play with that! 4- The paper you use influences how many layers you can use to go darker. With normal sketch paper, I have noticed that after about 4 layers, adding does the opposite of darkening and starts taking away pigment (in a rather ugly way). Test this out on the paper that you are using just to see what your limit is. And of course, it helps to have watercolour paper. 5- This one is not a necessity, but I love using a sepia pen instead of black for the line work when working with coffee. It gives it a more rustic look, is if it was done in old parchment. It is a nice variation to play around with. Hope this helps! Thank you Steph and Adam for such a great channel! I have been watching it every week for quite a while now and it makes me happy every single time. Keep up the awesome work!
I tried to draw this guy that was giving my mom directions because his face was nice and he noticed what I was doing and I was so embarrassed I screamed
I was at the library one time doing homework and there was a man watching duck videos huddle up to a computer so I drew him in my notebook and called it 'duck man'
I’ve found that instant decaf coffee does the best for coffee painting - you can get the grounds to be SUPER pigmented and concentrated to a really dark brown
I actually drew a stranger in school once and now were dating.... he doesn't know I ever drew him, it was from behind and we were complete strangers, I wanted to draw the sitting position he was in xd4
We broke up lol but still friend's, I don't do much traditional art lately, I've been doing digital stuff instead, so the random student doodles have died down
In public I always bring my sketchbook because I love drawing certain people. So I end up being this creepy stalker while trying to sketch their face out and dart to another place. People always look over my shoulder and compliment me, but they don't realize I'm trying to be really secretive about it so the people I'm drawing don't notice. Being an artist is such a process.
+ Doodle Date You guys are so inspirational!! I love you guys because your not afraid of the camera and everything you say is spontaneous!! every time I watch you guys I get inspired to create and because of you I've made some wonderful peaces!! I know you don't know me but thank you!! You've done so much for me and all the other doodlers!!
I used instant coffee for my coffee painting because it was the cheapest, easiest way to create coffee of different strengths and values. I really enjoyed the outcome!
Well with tea, you can take the tea bag and depending how much you squeeze the moisture out you can get either a really light coulor, or a really dark one. Really helpful for toning. :) Try that out~
It's amazing how yous are English and draw so good, not being stereotypical or anything. I'm British too woo! Also I just love the atmosphere with yous two, yous always manage to make me laugh my head off
I paint with coffee, but I usually only use instant coffee. It dissolves very quickly in water, is very cheap, and I can control how light or dark it is! Great video!
Just a tip, I have painted with coffee before and it turns out WAY better if you use a canvas or water color paper. It also helps to put some water in it to have different shades.
Adams drinking a mango and passion fruit cooler!! My favourite!! I'll make sure I try painting with coffee sometime. I'll probably do a portrait because it would work quite well as a skin tone/ build up well for creating shadows. Love you guys. -Luke
At school I drew the substitute because she had nice glasses and a pretty hijab. It was on my homework and when I turned it in she noticed and smiled at me.I wanted to do it especially because the kids were being mean and saying things about terrorists because of her hijab. They are so rude.
Love this idea and the results too! I've painted with black tea before and if you're too impatient to layer one thing you can do is just make the coffee stronger to get darker tones (though this doesn't really work as well if you're ordering it outside, unless you buy an expresso shot).
A friendly tip from a barista: you should've ordered an espresso. I did just the same thing a couple of days ago, and even with a super wrongly made strong and probably burnt coffee the result was much worse than I expected. So you really need the strongest stuff you can get for something like this) But it was superfun to watch as always! Thank you guys!
+Юлия Владимировна LOL thank you so much for the tip! It's funny because I used to work as Barista too, but I was absolutely awful at it since I hate coffee XD So all help is VERY much appreciated
As you were painting I was thinking about how the sketchbooks are going to smell like coffee forever now :D Also how handsome is Adam, seriously. The lighting and those eyelashes. What a babe :3
I've never painted with coffee... but I've used it to dye paper before, to get a sort of antique-y look. Then just gone in with regular ink once it's dry.
I love to people watch and draw, it can seem a bit creepy to non artists but its a great way to learn and draw from life! Sometimes I'll try to take a sneaky picture if I see someone in a cute outfit or interesting pose, a little risky but then you don't have to keep looking back at them and dont have to worry if they leave
I did coffee paintings for my GCSEs best thing to do to get different tones is to experiment with different amounts of coffee and water ration the thicker the coffee the darker the colour but also the cheaper the coffee it can get quite sticky . I love the videos xx
I love your videos guys! Always brightens up my days, especially when i'm feeling stressed :) Recently lost my job but trying to stay positive in the meantime at least it's given me a lot more time to draw until I find a new one!
This was so cute to watch. It's been quite a while since I've people sketched in public, forgot how much fun it can be. 😀 But first, I have to go make a cup of coffee after seeing this.
I love your videos! It's been great to watch and listen to your channel while I work on my own art. :D Your channel is so relaxing and inspiring. Thanks for including us on your doodle dates!
I have actually tried coffee painting before, and I recommend getting a little cup of espresso for darker values! regular coffee lays on too light, so if you try to layer for darker values you will destroy the paper.
This is deff a must try! Love what you guys came up with. Lol I think I'd make coffee the night before , I wouldn't have the patience for it to cool off first 😂
I paint with coffee a lot! I use a regular cup of coffee and also a small egg cup filled with a really concentrated coffee solution so you can get darker tones much easier rather than building layers and layers of plain coffee wash
I drew a guy on the train once. He was really cute and was just staring at his phone so he was in the same pose the whole time and it was perfect.
Did he find out?
No I never talked to him.. I wanted to show him, but I decided not to bother him
OMG NICE NAME DUDE (OR DUDETTE)!!!!
Thank you!
AggressiveBagel one time during an exam, my best friend drew me from the back (after she had finished the test)
i think you guys should paint with berries on a doodle date!
i love watching your videos, they are super cute and i love both of your art styles
Ooh, that's a neat idea! :D Cherries have a really strong pigment, from my experience. Grapes aren't the best, but they can lighten or darken the color you're using ^_^
that would be cool
yes that would be so cool
Mimi Foxx yess!!!
You guys are the best couple on youtube
I tried to draw one of my classmates and when he noticed he just smiled at me and winked. I'm still very confused.
He probably thought that you liked him, try talking to him if you like him. If you don't just forget that happened. If you want you can talk to him saying that it was just a sketch or some other excuse. Hope this helped. ❤️
it means I liked that you were drawing him and he probably liked you.
He probably thought you liked him
Happens too much to me too.

Whenever I watch your videos I can't help but imagine you both with the biggest heart eyes while filming each other (which is really cute btw)
xD
I cheated on my first coffee painting. The layers weren't darkening as well for my shadows on my watercolor paper, so I used a little bit of brown watercolor. :p
Also, coffee is my favoritest thing in the world so I really enjoyed this video and both of your wonderful drawings!
O yeah, i remember that video😹☕️
Ooh, crossing medias, I like it!
I love your name 😸😸😸
DramaticParrot lol
Thank you to the subs that subtitled this in Dutch, Polish, Portugese, Spanish & German for us! :o subtitles/cc > add subtitles :)
- Steph & Adam
As soon as i get better at french, i'll try and caption some of your guys' videos :)
I love how you post this early in the morning (at least for California) so I have something to look forward to! Lots of love from California
I would caption it in Swedish, but my computer is currently broken. But if it were of interest, then sure, is absolutely do it ^^
+Doodle Date You're so very welcome! We're on 100% the same page with Adam and cereal. Cereal is always there for you (and best when dry!)
when cereal is dry, it can dry my tears. Cereal was there for me when you werent. Cereal the real MVP
Thank you!!
Finally someone who understands! HAHAHA

Awwww this is so cute. I wish I had a painting buddy!
Your drawings turned out awesome!!! It looks so fun painting with coffee ^w^

Yes!! I work in a coffee shop as well and i do the same thing! All my coworkers find me quite strange for it lol.
Don't forget milk and cream
CharZal Is there a difference between the taste of milk and cream? Or is it a consistency thing? #thingsiwanttoaskmycustomers
TJ Metamorphosis same here though my limited caffeine us a health condition but I never liked it really anyway so when they said quit coffee I said yes my half a cup of week okay
I love lemon green tea, it's delicious. :p

I tried to draw this guy that was giving my mom directions because his face was nice and he noticed what I was doing and I was so embarrassed I screamed
this may be the best thing that i have read all day
You have to be really sneaky, like mark down thing about them like you are stealing their face!
Gosh that sounds weird XD
this is SUPER true whenever I try to draw people in public.
LOL😂😂😂
Omg.. ^and army?! Whoop
I was at the library one time doing homework and there was a man watching duck videos huddle up to a computer so I drew him in my notebook and called it 'duck man'
I did a painting of a wolf drinking tea, using tea! :D
nice!
cool
thats a great idea ( °◊° )
Is your profile pic the wolf? It looks good.
no, it did turn out to be pretty neat though :)
WOOOO! I totally forgot that there was going to be a video today ;-;
Great art as always! I love you two!
Next time, buy instant coffee and make a strong drink. Or order an espresso and add water if you need a soft colour. :)
+Anna Brugat Mangas I was thinking of something like that, also thy wouldn't be wasting as much coffee in the process.
I usually "people watch". Has anyone else ever done that?
I do that all the time when I go to NY
+RealLife Minecraft I people watch a lot. Its fun
my mum and I do that😂
me and my friends do that
I'm very much a people watcher. I'll see someone and then create an intricate backstory for them :p
DRAWING PEOPLE IS SO FUUUN!! I love seeing how different everyone's style is! Clothing, posture, hair style, mood, etc.!
I’ve found that instant decaf coffee does the best for coffee painting - you can get the grounds to be SUPER pigmented and concentrated to a really dark brown
how cool watching your video week by week and realizing Adam's drawing developed so much. keep the good work guys!
Whoever is reading this,
Have a nice day/night! ❤️
Savannah Gladiator naw, today I'm getting myself in the hospital.
Thank you
You have no idea how much this helped my horrible night 😊😊
Adam you are so sweet to Stephanie. Such a soft kind man you are. Best regards from Michigan USA.
I'm doing a coffee painting now, an it is definitely very light. It dries pretty fast, and you can clearly see the layers. It's pretty fun though.
I've got exams tomorrow and im watching this instead of revising!!!
It would be cool to see where you do your work, like your desk?
you can kind of see it in their 10 minute drawing challenge
They don't necessarily always use their desk. Even though, it would be nice to see it
I tryed it once, when I studied to be a art teacher. It was instant coffee and we made different colors after how much water we put in.
Your videos make Monday's a bit more bearable here down under! Lovely art you guys.
They look so good! Coffee might just be the new watercolor XD
I people watch all the time. I like to pretend I am part of a top secret government agency, and its my duty to record people who walk by. XD
oh my god, i am not alone.. BROTHA, NICE TO MEET YOU AGAIN
daniel likes watermelon Now I know that my top secret government agency has two members. Nice to meet you too. :)
Is there a codename we need to use? lol
It's so interesting to analyze people, like by the way they walk or their expression i can usually determine their mood. I'm weird.
I actually drew a stranger in school once and now were dating.... he doesn't know I ever drew him, it was from behind and we were complete strangers, I wanted to draw the sitting position he was in xd4
Maybe you should show him if you still have it, ahaha he might find it cute :)
+lαuren I remember it was on line paper so I know it's gone now lol
+lαuren Now whenever I draw him he always tries to say I draw him like one of my gay characters
I draw random people at my school sometimes. I don't date any of them.
We broke up lol but still friend's, I don't do much traditional art lately, I've been doing digital stuff instead, so the random student doodles have died down
I really like your outdoors videos. Is so fun to see you guys in different places...
Thank you for adding subtitles to your videos. I'm hard of hearing, and this has made it so much easier to enjoy your videos. LOVE YOU GUYS ^.^
I love how you guys draw your people
i love how beautifully the coffee painted angry man with the nose & coffee coolers dry!! looking forward to next week's video already AHH
oh gosh your drawings are so pretty!! the styles are so nice and concrete!!
+ Doodle Date
You guys are so inspirational!! I love you guys because your not afraid of the camera and everything you say is spontaneous!! every time I watch you guys I get inspired to create and because of you I've made some wonderful peaces!! I know you don't know me but thank you!! You've done so much for me and all the other doodlers!!
I inspire to have great art like you guys. Instead of practicing, I'm just eating in a dark corner.
Doodle Date is my favourite channel and I have watched every single one of your videos
I used instant coffee for my coffee painting because it was the cheapest, easiest way to create coffee of different strengths and values. I really enjoyed the outcome!
i love Stephs sweater omg
Well with tea, you can take the tea bag and depending how much you squeeze the moisture out you can get either a really light coulor, or a really dark one. Really helpful for toning. :) Try that out~

I paint with coffee, but I usually only use instant coffee. It dissolves very quickly in water, is very cheap, and I can control how light or dark it is! Great video!
Adam's laugh makes my day and steph's smile is adorable X3
Just a tip, I have painted with coffee before and it turns out WAY better if you use a canvas or water color paper. It also helps to put some water in it to have different shades.
The 2 of you are so awesome! These videos always make me smile and give me ideas!
painting with tea then you can also use the teabag to get darker shades!
Great fun! I wonder if you could get darker tones by reducing the coffee over a stove first.
Ido painting with coffee and tea sometimes but I think it's better to uses more coffee than water to get a darker shade
Adams drinking a mango and passion fruit cooler!! My favourite!! I'll make sure I try painting with coffee sometime. I'll probably do a portrait because it would work quite well as a skin tone/ build up well for creating shadows. Love you guys. -Luke
I've done a drawing with some tea before. It was interesting, but nice. (the scent of tea made it relaxing)
I painted a fairy with soy sauce 😂😂
YES
I'm watching you guys painting with coffee in a coffee shop while drinking coffee and eating coffee flavoured tensile halva. so much coffee *¬*

very cute! that little coffee shop is also so cute!!
Stephs cat jumper is so adorable
As you were painting I was thinking about how the sketchbooks are going to smell like coffee forever now :D
Also how handsome is Adam, seriously. The lighting and those eyelashes. What a babe :3
I absolutely love Steph's sweater! ♥
Hello fellow Phandom member
Ayy
Love your shirt Steph🌻😍
I love you guys, doodle dates make my Sundays
I love drawing with coffee and tea! they make amazing colors. nice drawings guys
It's cute how they have the same drawing style
I've been binge watching your videos since I've been sick. The perfect cure :)
It made me happy to see you go to Costa since I live in the UK as well 🙋🙌 and I love the place
I've never painted with coffee... but I've used it to dye paper before, to get a sort of antique-y look. Then just gone in with regular ink once it's dry.
You guys are so adventurous lol. I would never even attempt to paint in my sketchbook with coffee
I love doodle dates, you guys are so inspiring!!:)
+Kitty Cat Aww Thank you! :D
We're so happy you enjoy them!!
-Adam
I have never painted with coffee before but I like the color it gives
love your channel, totally binge watching episodes
you should do another Crayola challenge but use the Crayola paint brush markers
As a person who's HOH, that you for being conscious enough to do subs!
HOH?
Hard of Hearing :)

Youve become one of my favorite youtubers so i was like !!!!! When you uploaded, ive already run out of videos to watch from you guys
Those coffee paint reminds me of my school project where we use it to make the background looks like its from an old film bcause of the sepia cover,
help I can't stand how adorable you two areeeeee
You two are my favorite couple ever! You guys are so cute together 😊✒️✏️🎨
I love to people watch and draw, it can seem a bit creepy to non artists but its a great way to learn and draw from life! So excited to see Adam's story soon!!! I'm sure It'll be great
Thank you so much Martina!! :D
-Adam
Painting with coffee/tea is great! I love you guys!
I love these two so much
This was so cute to watch. It's been quite a while since I've people sketched in public, forgot how much fun it can be. 😀 But first, I have to go make a cup of coffee after seeing this.
I think both of you are great artists 😄
I love your videos! It's been great to watch and listen to your channel while I work on my own art. :D Your channel is so relaxing and inspiring. Thanks for including us on your doodle dates!
I used to sit down at my local library or starbucks and draw people. It's the most embarrassing thing ever to get caught 😂
+Meg Awacflr Keep drawing them! don't break eye contact LOL
-Adam
I personally waited since yesterday for this video these videos are my whole weekend
Ooo I love this idea and especially how you drew real people! :D
I have actually tried coffee painting before, and I recommend getting a little cup of espresso for darker values! regular coffee lays on too light, so if you try to layer for darker values you will destroy the paper.
love the idea! totally gonna give it a try
You should try doing tea painting and use different flavour teas for different colours :) Love all your videos xx
This is deff a must try! Love what you guys came up with. Lol I think I'd make coffee the night before , I wouldn't have the patience for it to cool off first 😂
That's not a bad idea!
We might try it at home again and let it cool over night :)
-Adam
if this isn't a happy couple than I don't know what is.
I paint with coffee a lot! I use a regular cup of coffee and also a small egg cup filled with a really concentrated coffee solution so you can get darker tones much easier rather than building layers and layers of plain coffee wash
