Have you been to the Hyatt in Lake Tahoe? What were you favorite experiences? Let us know! If you love Tahoe as much as us, where are you favorite places to stay?
I was a charter member of HLT , a carryover from when it was Kings Castle, a tacky late 60s , lord knows what they were thinking hotel. But then the Pritzker family bought it around February 1975 and the dozen or so of us from the Castle were welcomed to stay on. Grand Opening was early July 1975 after a Herculean renovation of literally every aspect of the property. I stayed on for 10 years working several departments. Jack Hardy was the first GM and remained there for years until becoming a regional VP for Hyatt and then transferring to Florida. The way it looks now, it’s gone through a few major transformations. All of them logical. I miss working there. It was so much fun and a tremendous experience and was a major influence on my life and future career in hospitality and incentive travel. This couple does a great service in describing the features and benefits of the property and the nearby activities and fun things to do. Very nicely done.
That’s amazing! Thanks so much for your comment, it’s great to learn more about the history of HLT! It’s a property we’ve always loved and can’t wait to return. Thanks so much for sharing!
@@VoyagerGuru My pleasure , I rarely comment on reviews on any property in the world , but because you did such a great job making a concise and accurate description on the one place closest to my heart , I just had to respond. I’ve spent 40 years of my life in hospitality. The 30 years post HLT were as a Corporate Incentive Travel Director beginning with the Leader of Motivation/ Incentive Travel, Maritz. Having dealt with almost the entirety of the Fortune 500 companies, taking their top execs on trips around the world every week of the year. Thank you so much, Michael!!! That means a lot and it sure sounds like you’ve had some amazing experiences in life. We will definitely get in touch- we’d love to hear some of the unique stories you have to share :)
Hey there! At the time we stayed, room service was available. I would recommend asking the hotel if they serve it in to go containers or if they have reverted back to real plates yet, because the last thing anyone wants is to eat a $50 steak out of a carton. Some Hyatt properties still have not reverted back, so just a tip!
Hello Mike! Thanks for your comment! If you read the comments, you'll see you're not the first to raise this - it's been noted 😂! Thanks for watching the video in such detail ❤️
Thanks for your comment Douglas! That’s correct, however, there is also actually a forest of redwoods that can be found just 35 minutes from SF in John Muir Woods!
@@GreasyBaconMan there are actually 2 different famous forests north of San Francisco. The one I believe you’re referring to is Redwood National, about 5-6 hour drive from San Francisco. The other is actually just over the Golden Gate Bridge about 35 minutes drive in Mill Valley at John Muir Woods. The trees aren’t the same giant redwoods, but there are many sequoias and it’s very impressive. Also, I believe it’s one of the oldest redwood growths on the coast. If you’re near San Francisco, it’s worth a visit!
The prices are REALLY high right now thanks to increased domestic travel (read COVID-19). However, this Hyatt could be a good points redemption at 25k/night, at least to offset the cash cost. Still really expensive right now though. Personally, I’d wait to visit Tahoe until after international travel in unrestricted!

They’re not redwood trees . They are Ponderosa pines.

Dude, there are zero redwood trees anywhere in or around Lake Tahoe.
Thanks Pat! Lol our bad :) we misspoke, happens sometimes! It was one of our early videos - thanks for the feedback!!
Redwoods are in the Redwoods 9 hrs north of San Fran and in a section of Redwoods can be found in Yosemite.

Doesn’t look nice as the price tag.
