Excuse me-? When I had a blood test, I had 6 big vials taken, prior to this one, I had severe trauma with blood tests and the woman who did the test to me didn’t even care to listen to my worries and added to the trauma by not even taking a break between the vials and doing it non stop!!!, I felt like I was going to vomit, a feeling of hopelessness went over me and all she said was “you are fine” and gave me a vomit bag!!! I read about it and it’s only legal to take 3-5 vials at a time (the big ones) I almost fainted and she didn’t even care. No one even bothered to explain to me why there were more vials than promised as my parents said only 2-3 would be taken!!!! When I say I was terrified of having a blood test, I got to the point where I couldn't sleep because I was so worried when I was younger knowing that I had to have one because I'm a carrier of Haemophilia so need to know how well my blood clots and whatnot. A month ago I had my first blood test and the nurse I had was fantastic. I was really scared because I didn't know what to expect (how you picture it in your mind is usually a lot worse) but I let the nurse know and she calmed me down and it was done in about a minute with no pain! You can only feel the needle a bit when they change the tubes. Don't watch the needle go in if you are squeamish and I've found that if they ask if you want them to tell you when they are putting the needle in, politely ask them just to do it when they are ready because you might tense up and it may start to hurt. My Second Time was today as a follow up (I had 4 vials taken). I've gotten to the point where I am relaxed when I have it done which is a place I'd never thought I'd be in. My best piece of advice would be to play music through some headphones and look away to distract yourself, take some deep breaths and try to control your breathing and eat and drink something before. When it is done, you will feel so proud of yourself. You will get plenty of people telling you not to worry and to stop overreacting but you always think it sounds horrible in your head before you have it done and nothing anyone says can change that because that was exactly what I was like. Once you have it done only then will be able to know what it's like. You can do this! :)

Holy jeez that’s amazing-
Goodluck! I hope it goes well
Dont be nervous I’m sure it’ll go well
I just took my first blood test. Honestly, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. On a scale for pain level for me specifically it was like a 3 out of 10. Honestly the finger prick hurt worst than getting my blood drawn 😭😂 it was mostly the aftermath, I was fine during it but as soon as she took it out I started to become super light headed and nauseous and everything became fuzzy. I thought I was about to pass out but they laid me down and put a cold compress on my head and it went away. It was actually a really good experience considering I had never gotten it done before. So if you’re nervous about it, just look away...talk to yourself in your head about things you like. yes you’re gonna feel the pinch but it’s only a couple of secs of pain. And I would recommend eating before getting it down. I didn’t know I was getting blood drawn and I didn’t eat and that was most likely the reason I almost passed out.
It’s not that painful is it? That’s the part I hate the most is the pain.

(This is nothing against healthcare workers! We’d all be dead without them, especially me. It was a bad experience I had with one nurse and it wasn’t entirely her fault. Healthcare workers are some of if not the most important people, not just now, but they always are. If any doctors or nurses happen to be reading this, thank you!!!!)

Yes it is that bad...why would you lie to people.
I’m getting a blood test tomorrow. I’ve gotten tons of them before, because I have food allergies and get bloodwork all the time to check on how severe my allergies are. It’s not the bloodwork that scares me, it’s the fact that I may have to eat something I might still be allergic to.
Same but what scares me is the needle.. i just can't handle it. It's not just a tiny little pain because the needle is literally going through my vain. So yes it hurts.

The thing is. Needles are my worst nightmares. My blood test is only next week but I cried today thinking about it.
I had my first test a few weeks ago end what I have to say is that your experience might be better or worst depending on who is using that needle luckily for me it was ok

I did blood test yesterday due of my work. As a needle phobic I will share my experience, maybe this will help someone
I was needle phobic for over 15y due of my childhood trauma in hospital. I was afraid getting blood tests, IVs or vaccinations. And because of that I ignored mandatory medical procedures. But now I am basically free from needle phobia (I am still bit scared, ca 10%)
VACCINATIONS/GETTING SHOTS: Pain level 2/10
For those who are afraid getting shot I want to encourage you. Nowdays needles are so thin sharp that your body aint gonna feel almost nothing. When I got the covid vaccines, during the injection I felt like someone was holding a pencil point on my arm and I didn't feel the needle go in or the sting. I asked the nurse when you're going to prick me, and she said it's already done. The only thing that hurts is the pain after the injection, but it depends on the vaccine
BLOOD TEST: Pain level 4,5/10
For those who are afraid getting blood test, I want to encourage you. If you are so afraid then 1)dont look 2)distract yourself (pinch yourself on the lip and focus on that) 3)relax your arms (stiff arm makes blood test more painful). The needle was so sharp that I didn't feel anything, but the sting stung because the hand was cleaned with an alcohol cloth beforehand. And when the nurse collected blood, the stinging disappeared. What made it unpleasant was that I felt that the needle was in the vein, but it is not painful, rather unpleasant. But the time passed quickly and the hand did not hurt after that.
Thanks to sharp needles and professional medical personel my fear of needles dissapeared last year. Before I end my speech I want to share quote which is 100% true
FEAR COMES ALWAYS BEFORE OR AFTER THE SITUATION. DURING THE MOMENT THE FEAR DISSAPEARS
Guys, I just got my blood drawn yesterday and it wasn’t bad! It was my first time. Just make sure to not look and distract yourself. Trust me, I am the biggest baby when it comes to needles. But, it was not bad at all! Before, I couldn’t stop thinking about a needle piercing my vein (that’s what i was more scared of, then the pain), but if you look away and, for me, focus my hearing on another conversation in the room, you’ll be fine! If I had to rate the pain… 2/10 :)
@Isabelle Gomez how did it go??
Guys for whoever is watching this lemme tell you something. I have extreme fear of needles and the sight if needle freaks me out. Today i took a blood test and if i say.. It's ok to be scared. What i did is, i told my Phlebotomist that i had trypanophobia and she called another Phlebotomist who i think has more experience
Even if you are afraid or nervous it's okay justs don't look at the needle or syringe. When the needle is inserted you'll feel a sudden sting but after the needle is in it won't be that bad of a pain. You won't feel much and when the needle is pulled out you'll feel a sting again but not as much as the first sting. The first sting is like when a wasp pricks you.
It will be over before 30 seconds so don't worry
My lovelies you got this blood test. You would do good. Just take in a deep breath and go forward 💜💜
Hello i am 13 and getting a blood test this week and i am terrified, Because i remember when i was very young (like 5-7 yrs old) i had it done and i cried my eyes out on the first tube than i had to get a second tube done, I had to count to 10 to "calm myself", And well that didn't work because for some reason the pain i had was unbearable..😔😢😭😭
Even hearing her talking about needles and veins sends shiver down my gut. I don't know, I'm not afraid of needles but it happens subconsciously
Just had my blood test and I was scared without any reason, No Pain at max a 1.5/10 for the first second. It takes almost 30 seconds so try to be calm as it may feel long but doesn't hurt at all during that time. All the best 👑.
I used to faint during blood tests. Then I got a tip that changed everything. Instead of trying to relax as much as possible, instead make sure your circulation is good by "breathing with your belly". Inhale - extend your belly.. exhale - pull in your belly. Maybe 4-5 seconds inhale and 4-5 seconds exhale. Haven't fainted since then, and I have taken alot of blood tests. I still dislike them! But I don't faint anymore. If you keep your circulation going there is much less chance you will faint, plus this technique also makes you focus on something else.
OMGGGG REALLY Thankyouuu!!! I've always wanted to find a cure for this and I'll try it next time, if it works, I owe u my whole life😭❤️
I'm getting bloodwork done in 2 weeks, and the worst part is I am going on vacation tomorrow so I'll be thinking about it the whole time 😭
I had to get blood tests every two weeks and I was terrified. But the nurses were so amazing and kind I soon got it done. The needle really hurts a ton but once you get over the fear and untense it doesn't hurt that much
To not faint, you have to keep breathing. When you faint, it's because there isn't enough oxygen in the brain.

I tried to get a blood test. No blood came out. They tried everything. I felt I was going to faint that entire time.
Im getting my blood test tomorrow for nursing requirement and i am freaking genuinely scared
I can literally feel the needles piercing my skin and going inside my flesh just by imagining it
And no kidding
I can literally feel it
I used to be ok with blood drawls but since then ive had several horrible trumatizing experiences, one during a mental health crisis, that where incredibly painful and lead to me puking and passing out.
The girl who fainted I related so much too omg. I got my blood drawn for the first time just like her and with anxiousness after watching several people getting blood drawn did kind of taunt me so I was already nervous. At first I was like okay this isn't bad I felt literally nothing and I was like yes I got the needle in were done. The blood all came out and I was doing fine nothing even pinched in fact I didn't even feel anything! But it was after once I got it drawn when I stood up I had fainted. Only for like a few seconds but enough to grab the attention of the surrounding nurses. It was quite frightening the feeling of fainting paired with just have gotten your blood drawn. It honestly was only because it was so funny to me that it didn't even hurt and I was so scared in advance that it would hurt so much. Along with this I am anemic. That's what the blood test was for and apparently I need a lot more iron that what my body can provide for me so that's what caused me to personally faint. Anyone reading this comment good luck to your blood test! Fear is what makes everything worse and there's is literally no pain whatsoever! Good luck and don't be afraid, it's truly nothing! :)

I legit almost passed out today for the first time. Not sure if it was because I didn’t eat enough or if I was scared of needles
Just did a blood test.
Fun Day does it hurt when it goes in?
@@Lurod_ Trust me when you get nervous your mind tricks you into thinking it's gonna be painful but it's not, same with middle school shots I'm in 6th grade and I took 2 in one arm, but the side effects of the shots in middle school is that they'll kinda numb your arm so it's better to get all of them on one so you could use the other arm for something but besides that. No, the blood test don't hurt
MINE SHAKE MY ARM SHAKES!!!! WHAT THE
What kind of blood work can anyone recommend
mine is tomorrow morning, im so scared but i just have to get it over with. tips are appreciated :,) ill tell you all how it goes (from the perspective of someone horribly afraid of needles and doctors offices)
I'm not scared of the pain, I don't know what I'm scared of I just can't seem to have a blood test done- I sit down take the cream stuff off my arms the person gets the needle holds it near my arm I close my eyes burst into tears scream no and run away
OMG same
I got a blood test when i was 5 i cried but the nurse gave me a lolipop and i stop crying

I’ve had several done. It doesnt really hurt, it just feels like a small pinch. The alcohol they put on your skin beforehand is pretty cold so that kind of makes your brain focus on that more. If you’re scared of fainting, ask to be laid down, it helps a LOT. Don’t get up too quickly if you feel iffy. Apple juice and cookies help, too. I’ve fainted twice but both times were my fault.
I’m gonna chug an entire bottle of apple juice before I leave 😆
@@dream_walker9726 That will help

I can't tell whether I faint after the blood draw because of the physical factors or psychological ones.
