    Let's not forget this is Salt's 4th ever fight. Last year, Salt was an overweight out of shape Tiktok dancer and comedian. He was a working nurse for most his adult life pre Tiktok.
    Anthony has a combined experience of 41 fights (amateur, MMA, and pro boxing) in 10 years. Fighting has been his life.
    Anthony had the smarter gameplan for a 3 round fight - stick and move and clinch and tie. He didn't go to war, he wasn't looking for the KO. He made sure he got ahead in points and survive.
    I think Papi expected a war, but he got smothered instead. Realizing he was losing, he did the not so smart thing of moving forward and looking for a KO.
    Its not over for Salt, AT has lost more times than he's won and here he is.

    • @coopieself
      @coopieself Год назад +1

      Yeah this is spot on. Salt is still unbelievably skilled for his experience level but for someone with the fight training like AT you can't just expect him to do the same as he has been doing. I think Salt got complacent in his training and overlooked just how smothered he would be and how durable AT was.
      Salt Papi is one of those fighters that when you put them against someone, at the influencer level, who boxes conventionally he is going to smoke them but the second you throw off his gameplan he folds. I need to see a rematch between them bc I want to see how Papi learns and adjusts

    First round, Papi had confidence. Smiling and looking decent.
    Second round, Anthony 1 punch and clinch took Papi out of his game.
    Third round, instead of being able to adjust, he was stressed due to lack of rounds and he kind of just moved forward. Especially for a counter puncher. They need time to figure out the opponent.
    Lack of cardio + lack of rounds is what was Salt Papis downfall.
    Anthony deserved the win because he and his team predicted exactly this.

  • @SamurottThePro
    @SamurottThePro Год назад +42

    I said I wasn’t excited for this fight and I realized why. The 3 rounds was a clear indication for me as the fight drew closer. Cardio seemed like a issue but it was more than that. Let’s be honest Anthony Taylor didn’t do any special but throw in volume and clinch. He fought like I thought he would. However, Salt Papi kept throwing the same combination of punches. He was waiting to counter, walking forward and I saw a lack of head movement. When AT moved forward, Salt would expend energy moving backwards in the same direction more than 2 times instead of pivoting or moving left/right. Salt has to become a bit more efficient, get his cardio up there, and throw more. The uppercut was there for him to throw at Anthony the entire fight but he didn’t. It’s his first loss so hopefully he learns from this and goes hard in his next camp. Congrats to AT on his win

    Personally I saw it going this way. Salt Papi hasn't really beat anyone note worthy and I think a lot of people hyped him up after he TKO'd Josh but let's be real Josh gave up and 100% could've continued fighting. So overall I'm not surprised by this outcome in the slightest. I know people will say ''If there were more rounds Salt Papi could've won'' but that's really just like saying if Football game was longer the losing team could have a comeback. There's no weight or point to that argument.

    • @TheoF1
      @TheoF1 Год назад

      @@accountnew7030 I could see a late KO tbh if Salt would have figured AT out, but he didnt. My reasons were that we have seen that Salt does infact have good accuracy, a good amount of power, and good timing. But Salt wasnt quick enough and simply couldnt figure AT out

    • @accountnew7030
      @accountnew7030 Год назад +2

      @@TheoF1 relying on success in later rounds while you're very obviously gassing out after the 1 round yourself is at the very least silly. and even with the eventual knockdown, while I doubt it would happen, it wouldn't save salt because by that time AT would be winning all the previous rounds by points anyway. with his style salt would need a proper knockout to win the fight and pull out a victory, which in this case is impossible, because salt doesn't generate enough power to KO anthony and because anthony has never been ko'ed. knowing that the only way for salt to win was by points, which was very unlikely looking at his lack of volume. If he doesn't fix all of this then we figured the way to beat papi and everyone in the scene is gonna try to exploit this weakness moving on

    I don't think Papi's ceiling is necessarily lower but the gameplan to beat him was exposed. Land a big shot, then clinch to negate any counter potential. Especially if you can tank a counter or two, you just have to smother him. I still think, from a technical standpoint, Salt Papi is probably the smartest/most skilled fighter on misfits alongside Deji. I REALLY want a rematch because I want to see how Salt Papi can learn from this because I think while this was one of Papi's few weaknesses it was just such a big weakness that it was insurmountable from a tank like Anthony Taylor. Hope he gets back to the gym and grinds Salt Papi is my favorite influencer boxer 🙏

      Spot on. Fighters his height and frame size are middleweights. He should beb160lb max. Cut down the body fat amd his cardio will improve tremendously. The problem is he has shown to have an addiction to unhealthy foods and i doubt anybody on his team (his family) can tell him this. Im hoping Solomon can talk some sense into him though.

    Nah this isn't the reason Papi lost. Papi lost because FROM round one he was trying to rush a knock out. He completely disregarded his patience and his defense and used his /baseline/ range finder in hopes to land huge shots on Anthony Taylor. Some times he'd time it, perhaps to try and scare and slow Taylor down in hopes to eventually speed up and catch him.
    But all in all, he was rushing from round 1-3 and the only reason he was a "Different fighter" in round 2 and 3 is because he was a different animal but the same beast.
    If you know, you know. And I don't use that Kobe line as a meme I use it literally

    Salt has the talent & skill. His left jab is fast and dangerous however I noticed how open he was to be hit. Didn’t see enough defense that’s why his fighter easily connected, engaged powerless punches and scored. His style has been the same. It became predictable for his adversaries.
    Everything changed after this fight. From being the scary dangerous one and avoided by most contenders to a boxer whose opponents want to fight for sure after what came by.
    Therefore, he should significantly improve. Team SP must work on his cardio, defense and be strategically smart. Even-less, he has a great boxing future. I believe he can step up again.
    Mabuhay ka! 🇵🇭🙂

    I think it's simple what happened here, Salt Papi isn't used to having to put it all on the line with somebody just as good as him. In my personal opinion, Papi easily could've won, but he over comitted because of it being a 3-round fight, and tried to be a boxer that he isn't in order to out-dawg anthony taylor, which was the wrong move. If Salt Papi felt anthony taylor out more, he would've realized the timing of anthony right hand, but since he was so fcoused on the knockout and out scoring anthony, he kept getting caught. I think Salt Papi underestimated Anthony Taylor and thought he could out-dawg him whenever the only person I think who could out-dawg in our scene anthony taylor is KSI. Salt Papi should've tried to have clean defense and out-box anthony, but he didn't.

And this would throw anyone who doesn't practice clinch work ad 4it saps your arms, and you get tired pretty quick if your not use to it. Anthony on the other hand he likes the wrestling his body is built for it. Lack of experience was the reason for the loss today for salt, he wasn't hurt, he didn't get knocked down, he didn't get KO, and he didn't really get bullied in the ring. He just didnt have an answer for the grappling and game plan should of also had an uppercut that punch was open all 3 rounds, even a sharp jab uppercut.

      @@InspectahReal Yes I did. He went in against Swarmz for 4 rounds and was active all 4 rounds. Swarmz is also fast on the jab, but he rarely landed it. On top of that Deji's gauge for distance is nearly unmatched among RUclips boxers. With them both being around the same height I think Deji's taller it'll be even better for him since he already gauges the distance so well and lands his own shots against taller and fast opponents, against Salt Papi I don't think it goes the distance. 4-5 round and Deji takes the win by the 4th.

      @@Ihatedunno Deji wasn't in there to put Swarmz down and as you said he kept a high guard the whole time. Tommy didn't put Jake down when he's had experience since he was a Kid. Also Deji wasn't having that much trouble with the jab rewatch the fight you see him avoid most of what Swarmz threw unless Deji was in the corner and letting his hands go. The counter caught him off guard, but notice how he does a loop as if he suspected another punch and planned to avoid it. He wasn't rocked just caught off guard he was ready to go.

      @@Dragonlord826 He was most definitely trying to take swarmz out. He was throwing heavy body shots and wild hooks trying to take swarmz head off. Deji did have some problems when swarmz was moving forward in 1st round. Deji biggest weakness is an aggressive fighter who can take hits. Salt papi isn't there yet but we do know he does have a chin. He just needs to stop fighting at a higher weight class and work on cardio. Also the fact swarmz even caught him off guard is not good look vs a counter puncher like salt papi, he would most definitely catch with a mean left hook.
