- Filmmaker James Scott made this study of the British artist David Hockney at work in April 1966, when Hockney began a series of etchings based on love poems by the Greek/Alexandrian C.P. Cavafy. This extract is from a cut of the film made for the British Council; a director's cut under the original title Love's Presentation is available on the BFI DVD Every Picture Tells a Story.
All titles on the BFI Films channel are preserved in the vast collections of the BFI National Archive. To find out more about the Archive visit www.bfi.org.uk/...
He looks like he came from the future in 1966, completely modern.
@hirundine you can see the complete film free in BFI Mediatheques around the UK, and it will be included as an extra on the forthcoming BFI DVD/Blu-ray release of ‘A Bigger Splash’, out on 30 January 2012.
I am the filmmaker who made this film. The BFI has not only posted this clip to You Tube without my permission, but have posted an unauthorized version of the film. To add injury to insult the BFI have also included the same unauthorized version of the film on their Blu-ray release of 'A Bigger Splash'
Yolanda Orozco I think they may have the film in their archives
Amazing. Thanks for sharing.
I would have liked to have seen, the whole film.
Thanks for your answer! Unfortunately, I live in W.Canada. The man, David Hockney, is obviously a really good artist. To be able to draw 2 parallel lines like that straight into the wax film takes considerable skill! IMO. Cheers!
