What an irritating interviewer,he was rude and belittled David Hockney as if smirking at him throughout, the end question was not needed,David was sharp and dealt with him well and was polite in everything.

What a terrible and embarrassing way to finish an interview. ' How badly do you need a smoke right now?' What a shocking interviewer he is. He kept interrupting DH and then finishes with a stupid question. Hockney was clearly thinking the same.

Great interview, but for those confused by Hockney’s indifference to a screen: Does a carpenter admire his hammer because it built a house, or does he admire the house that his hammer helped him build?

Hockney did well despite the interviewer and his 'literati' accent. He sounded like he was presenting an award at the Giller's (another national embarrassment). Comparing Brian Eno's experimental light show to Hockney's work was also obnoxious. By the end, it seemed Hockney regretted showing up for the interview. It's too bad people associate the great city of Toronto with the lamebrains at the CBC.

The interviewer was asking good and interesting questions, not just questions that puts the artist up on a pedestal. The smoking question at the end was in good spirit and was trying to be light hearted. The dude clearly had an authentic interest in Hockneys decision making and seemed like he was genuinley happy and excited to be talking to the man.

It is always great to hear David Hockney talking. He is very open. The interviewer seems very nervous.

Hmm, capacitive screen. Not exactly known for accuracy, just responsive. Surprising thing i found my cousing sketching on my HTC Pro 2 one day (advance resistive). The level of detail he was sketching was like down to strands of hairs. I was so surprised that was even possible, and how natural and responsive it was.

I love David Hockney's art, the lavender is beautiful. The exhibition at the RA, London is well worth a visit. What I enjoyed and even cried over, are the pictures of his Heroes, ( the ones he didn't meet, but who inspired him) which I saw at the New Tate a few years back) Hope I got the right location. And his Yorkshire paintings, stunning. Yes, the RA are lucky to have him on the books.. I also like his generosity, sharing here.

@Qtv Maybe my initial response was a little strong, but your sarcastic reply only seems to reinforce my point. CBC has become 'news for the kids'.

Irritating interview… Almost trying to task Hockney to slip up on answers he doesn’t need to prove himself at all . Especially to a young interviewer. I love David’s straight shot honest answers .

I listen to Q every evening on Public. Tom Power so nice to put a face to your personable style of interviewing your Guest of Artist. This recording gave me insight to David Hockney evolving with technology. Thank you

He wasn't ready for this deep conversation, that's why he interrupted DH a few times. What a narcist host.

This interviewer is great. He makes his research, really listens and responds to his guests and can lead the conversation in the right direction to make the interview interesting and easy to listen to, while at the same time giving it depth. He really has to struggle with this guy tho, a really dull and slow old man, avoiding answering the questions properly so he can talk about what he wants to talk about. Don't care who he is, from a radio perspective, he's really dull to listen to. Good job Q
