Is this going to keep reinstalling itself if I don't want to disable updates? I didn't get the chance to look at whether we could choose this part of the update or not, my pc updated while I had it set to Sleep.

These steps don't work in my Windows 10 on my PC but I am so untechnical when something goes wrong it's me ha! Also this tutorial is 5 months old so could that be the problem? I went to MicroSoft Edge and it said something like "We can't help you removed Copilot from your system" when they were the ones who put it in. I remember I'd get notices like add their wonderful Copilot to your system with a button to "accept" but no button to not accept and you couldn't close the window. Twice I got out of it only by shutting down. This time they went a step further. I had an update notice and clicked for that at shut-down but when I restarted suddenly there was Copilot with a white vertical bar taking space on my desktop. I can't find any simple uninstall. I have Windows 10 and I use FireFox or Duck Duck Go so should I just uninstall MicroSoft Edge or will that cause problems with various functions in my computer? Big corps have their ways and I wonder how this is a similar scenario with the future of AI and a parallel to George Orwell's famous novel.
@@mwj5368 Microsoft windows operating systems now require edge to run your desktop unfortunately. Edge is something you can't remove, however you should not have that set as your Default browser. Use something like Chrome or Firefox. Then in setting make that your default browser. As far as windows 10 and the age of the tutorial...yeah there are issues. This was for Windows 11 but should be usable on anything back to Vista tbh with restore system functionality.

You would need to go into the registry by command prompt and gut those files. I wouldn't mess around with that unless you really know what you're doing. Also, as soon as your pc restarts it will just reinstall the files and fix copilot thinking its been broken by accident. The only realy way is to do what I said in this video. If that doesn't work you are literally a new copilot user..

😭Windows is on such, such thin ice this morning. I followed your steps yesterday, it took all night (slow laptop), I eventually had to unplug and take the battery out this morning because it froze... and what did it do when it started up again? An update! Even though I turned off updates for 7 days. I'm guessing because I restored to a point a few days ago, when updates weren't turned off... 😖. So hooray, CoPilot's back! I'll disable the wifi and try again. I'm wondering though, how do you disable updates so they don't just install it again next time? (Interestingly, my Chrome was ok afterwards)
I had my updates paused for 4 weeks when I did it. When I did that last restore and it instantly fixed it...I haven't updated my.pc since. Ever time I get close to the pause mark date where it will enable updates again.. I simply push it out 4 weeks again. And yeah you may have restored it to a point where your auto updates are enabled, therefore you may be stuck with it. Im a webmaster that builds websites for a living. Being stuck with it wasn't an option so I tried everything until I found a proper solution.
@@legendarybloodlines Yeah, I think I'm stuck with it 😔. It's still there after restoring it the second time (and this time Chrome did stop working!). This might actually push me over to Linux, which as a technophobe is terrifying. Thanks for your help anyway 👍

Looks like this tutorial isn’t for Windows 10,
Can you do another or advise how to do the restore point please?
