Yes it is, especially if the truck is going to be use for off road, then this is one option for sure without the need of an extra channel on the radio control and receiver since its automatic. One of my plans is using the truck off road for recording videos and hopefully transport some of my real chickens 🐓on a trailer for my chicken country episodes. Thank you again for your comments and for watching my videos👍
Hello, @cloudburstrc😀 yes this is a great upgrade for those diferentials. Here is the link were i bought them and thank you for watching my videos😁 magomhrc.com/en/tamiya-transmission-original-rims/1664-double-shaft-for-tamiya-differential-housing-automatic-locking.html
Ok so having installed a set myself I can tell you the ring gear is removable/adjustable I had an issue with mine trying to strip out. I removed everything and cleaned the teeth of both pinion and ring gears problem solved.
Hello danny Clark, that's interesting, i didntt know that 👍 It's the small ring gear that connects to the transmission shaft or the big ring gear that is part of the axle because sometimes i do feel like it wanst to strip on my truck and i don't know if is the new kit upgrade that comes like that, can you explain to me in more details and thank you for your comment and for watching my videos.
@@miltonrcadventure the big gear is what I’m referring to. It’s held in place on the housing with 4 set screws. I was having trouble with mine trying to eat teeth off the aluminum gear (the brass one is apparently tougher that the aluminum one) I removed it and cleaned it then put it back on. It’s kinda like setting the gear mesh on a motor pinion and spur gear. Apparently due to minute differences in the molding of tamiya differential cases the gear mesh has to be finely adjusted. Remove your diff loosen the 4 set screws and move the aluminum gear a bit forward (closer to the pinion) if it’s slapping a bit or back it off a hair if it’s grinding. The middle axle is what I had a hard time setting up, I figure it was more difficult because it has 2 pinions. Hopefully this helps you. Feel free to pass it on to anyone asking.

Hello Sonicplayroom piano😃 i was doing some research and i came to the conclusion that these are not going to work for the tamiya high lift hilux. If i find out some other option i will let you know. Thank you for your comment and for watching my videos👍
@@miltonrcadventure no problem. Thanks for trying. Yesterday I put the diff pin in and drove the truck a little with locked diff in the rear axle. Unfortunately the pin came out and caused some damage to the inside of the plastic piece. Maybe it's not meant to be driven in high gear or maybe I didn't put the pin in properly. Either way I stopped driving immediately when I noticed the truck struggling.
That is a seriously cool option for our Trucks!! Nice tutorial. 😊
