I picked one up when I was on the road in the 80's. It was cool to see it demonstrated. I don't play it much anymore, as you know it's not light. I use my newer keyboards today. I learned a few new things about it, thanks. Also, I'm surprised what you can get for one. Thanks again.
Thanks for this review. It's interesting to see you mentioning Magdi El Husseini .. Prior to shifting to the VIP 600, he started his career in the late 1960's playing a Farfisa Compact Duo which he put to very good use too.
I have a VIP 400 I need to restore, sadly its very hard to find any help in terms of diagrams and the likes. Id appreciate any info or help in restoring this great organ!
ho riparato parecchi farfisa, devo dire che non sono la mia passione perché sono troppo "onda quadra", questo però mi sembra davvero carino, complice anche il fatto che è suonato bene.
I've heard it on Sun Ra recordings but haven't seen a photo of him with it. I found mine in 1995 and was like showroom condition.. it slowly has lost some sounds .. I just have to clean the pots I think.. - I have a transistor touring Leslie that was bought at the same store.. 5 feet high that speaker. The only thing I don't have is the foot pedals for the VIP 600. This thing can make some freaky sounds... very synth like at times..can really dominate the room - this video was accurate.
Ciao, the VIP 600 was also used by the German bands Cluster and Harmonia as well as on Roedelius' solo albums. It was also used on the furst couple of albums by Simple Minds, you can hear it clearly on the song 'Changeling'. Alberto- I have a 600 that is no where as near good shape as yours and have always wondered what it should sounds like, Grazie for the video outlining the abilities. I was never sure if mine was broken when certain things didn't work or if it was meant to be that way!
