The roster-building rules in the salary cap era are literally designed to make what Belichick and Brady did in New England near to impossible. Bill Belichick is an elite coach, and even a pretty darn good GM, but he's still human. It was going to catch up to the Patriots sooner or later. Brady saw it was coming, and jumped ship to chase a ring on a premade contender.
@@fanboy50 Yeah, success comes and goes, that's true. But this year the Pats aren't even competitive in a lot of their games. At some point, that HAS to fall back on the HC and GM. And for what it's worth, I put Mike Tomlin in that same boat. Lots of credit for his accomplishments, but where is the franchise going?
Antonio pierce was an incredibly intelligent player when I watched him play for the redskins. Had the playbook mastered in no time and commanded the defense pretty competently, I thought. I wish him the best. I’d also like to see more interims get 2 year contracts to see what they can do, if they are getting more wins than expected. thank you for this video.... Raiders fans have seen like 20 coaches over like the last 32 years. I can honestly say McDonalds was the only one I ever wished to see fired. Never have I seen a guy take over a solid team and be like: "Naw, I need my guys" and it turn out so horrible.
I know the feeling. Lions fan right here, and what Matt Patricia and Bob Quinn did to us was horrible. The only decent coach I've seen come from New England is Mike Vrabel.
He did the same thing in Denver. I'm a Broncos fan, and I went through the same thing. I actually wanted my team to lose just so we could get rid of him.
Moving on from Derek Carr probably was the right move, but how they did it and who they replaced him with considering how good this QB class looks so far is what’s the bigger issue, they could’ve got Anthony Richardson or Will Levis
@@itsjordandclayill always be conflicted with Carr. I understand he was getting older, injured, coming off his worst season and expensive, but the guy gave the team everything he had. Almost every year he had to learn a new system and he literally broke his back carrying the team. He'll always have my respect and I wish they would have taken care of him better. He's like a less abused Andrew Luck
Maybe because he’s an arrogant toolbox that viewed his players as staff instead of as playmakers. I’m going to miss him promoting the check down machine option and sending Davante to the hospital each week with Jimmy’s suicide passes.
Ran great guy and leader Derek Carr out of building for his own qb Jimmy g. How's that smart move looking right now with the handsome one benched for poor play?
I remember when Josh McDaniels outright declined the Bengals head coaching job after the 2018 season. And I was so happy that he did that because I already knew back then what we know now to be the truth: Josh McDaniels is a one-man destroyer of NFL organizations. He creates toxic and suffocating cultures, he breeds hostility and resentment in every player he coaches and the fact he is due another 40M for setting back another legendary NFL franchise by at least half decade is probably the best success by failure story in all of the 2020’s. Thank you, Josh, for not coming to Cincinnati. Seriously, this guy would’ve ruined Burrow and Chase and we would’ve not gone to back-to-back AFC title games and had a Super Bowl berth with him. We so dodged a huge bullet with him. Whew!
Teams need to stop going for coaches from the Bill Belichick tree. Just because he's a good coach doesn't mean that his assistants aren't going to be successful too. This isn't like Greg Popovich from the San Antonio Spurs who had several assistants and a former player become championship winning coaches. This is completely different.
McDaniels is all 100% connections, his rapid rise in coaching tells u all u need to know... Brady saying "the raiders aren't using Adam's right"... is code for "I was in New England with McDaniels... he doesn't know what he's doing, he's a complete idiot".... and Belicheck is about as good a coach as Dieon Sanders... the man's had ONE winning season in his entire NFL career without Tom Brady....
For him to get hired again after failing with the Broncos and ghosting the Colts was already pretty unbelievable but then to get the contract he did was basically unfathomable. It seemed like the Raiders wouldn’t be able to top the Gruden contract somehow they did immediately. That one is far more defensible than McDaniels and you didn’t really need the benefit of hindsight to say that. There were basically no fans of hiring McDaniels at the time and everyone was proven right.
This gives me flashbacks to the Lions bringing in Bob Quinn and Matt Patricia "because they're Patriot guys" and how they tried to tear down a team that was on the fringes of a playoff spot for 3 years under Jim Caldwell. They tried to turn us into the Pats of the NFC by grabbing every castoff they could from Belichick and chased off our best players for scraps because "they don't fit the vision" including Darius Slay and Quandre Diggs. It's a true miracle that Campbell and Holmes could fix the mess those two created so fast, even if it took them until year 2 of their tenure. Hopefully Mark Davis learns his lesson and keeps Antonio Pierce as the coach if he does well, to make up for his bumbling of Bisaccia.
Raider fan here….great breakdown. One thing I noticed seeing McDaniels on the sidelines coaching in Vegas…..he would always be by himself. Nobody around him. Not talking to anyone…not hyping anyone up. It’s weird to see.
Let's also not forget that his Raiders team was only spared the embarrassment of giving up a touchdown to a Chiefs team that played "Ring around the Rosie" before snapping the ball thanks to a penalty flag.
You know, not saying Rich Bisaccia is a "set the world on fire" type of head coach, but considering that he has the players' respect, he turned a crappy situation around, and he probably would have signed for less, I have a hunch Bisaccia got shafted was cause of the stigma of being just a "special teams coach". Which is kind of stupid, cause special teams guys work with guys on both sides of the ball, and they deal with situational plays, which require a level of precision, a quality that a lot of good head coaches have. This stigma makes no sense. Just to prove my point: John Harbaugh worked as a special teams coordinator for years with the Eagles, but had to add being a defensive backs coach into his resume before teams would even consider him to be a HC. Hindsight is 20/20, considering the older Harbaugh worked out in Charm City, but you have to wonder how many potential HC candidates never get the call simply because "they're just a special teams guy".
I don’t fully agree here. Bill O’Brien was a damn good head coach for the Texans. The problem was when he became GM on top of that and started to dismantle the team. I understood the Matt Patricia hiring at first. That was until he tried to force his system on a team that wasn’t built for it, while bringing in unwanted former Patriots in the process and forcing them onto the field. McDaniels was a joke of a hire after the Colts situation that I could see going wrong from the instant it was announced and I gotta give him credit, he managed to ruin 1.5 teams at the same time because by leaving, it left Matt Patricia running the Patriots offense and reversing all progress Mac Jones was making towards developing into a great QB.
@@jolteon345I don’t think Mac was ever going to be a top ten QB in the NFL. You look at his body and either he does not work out enough or is a drunk. That is a problem in today’s NFL where being in shape matters.
@@easyenetwork2023 Almost every other team in the NFL has given a young QB that showed potential some kind of weapons and a decent coordinator. The fact that Mac Jones was a 1st round pick that showed promise and Belichick managed to masterfully screw him over is sad. It’s not like a Josh Rosen or Zach Wilson who actively looked like a flop, and I wouldn’t be surprised if part of Mac’s regression was due to him losing trust in Belichick’s abilities as a head coach and GM.
Bissaccia should've been their head coach. As a Packers fan I have this fleeting glimmer of hope that Lafluer and Barry will get fired mid season and Bisaccia will be named head coach.
McDaniels never should've been hired for another head coaching job. He previously screwed up Denver and left Indy at the altar. Raiders were fools to give him the job with all the obvious red flags attached to him.
Hey Brandon, just wanted to say I love you and am proud of you! I have been watching you since I was really young and you have developed my love and passion for the sport of football, thank you sir. Just know the work you and Will do is so appreciated. Love you?
The fact McDaniels got let go before Staley is truly worthy of an entire senate committee investigation and full audit of the chargers franchise. Someone is getting a lil Krafty with the owner if you catch my drift.
LETS GO AIDEN!!!! I’m rooting for him. Especially cuz when we were kids he was the only nice person to me! He was the only person who passed me the ball
As a Ravens fan, I can safely say we got him fired twice. We laid his flaws bare after his Broncos got lit up 30-7 at M&T Bank Stadium in 2009, and they ended up finishing 8-8. The next year, we crushed them in Baltimore again, and he got fired a few days later. This year he and his GM were so pesky about the prices they wanted for Josh Jacobs and Davante Adams, and they're still in Vegas because they wanted a Herschel Walker-type package. Including a 1st and 3rd for Adams, and a 2nd for Jacobs. Those players aren't worth those picks. Baltimore wisely said no to the offers. And now both men are gone. TAKE THAT MCFIRED!
I think the interview went along the lines of... "Josh, if I make you the Raiders HC, can you get me Tom Brady?" "Yes Mark, I can." Then Brady retired.
Basaccia was the right man for the job obviously. How was it possible that he wasn't even considered for the head coaching job? Sorry for the disrespect that you never deserved! LOVE YOU BASACCIA!

What's interesting about McDaniels is it's not just that he's a terrible head coach. In both Denver and Las Vegas, his players HATED him. There are a ton of failed NFL head coaches floating around, but usually the players don't hate their guts. Urban Meyer would be the only other example I can think of. A lot of similarities there.
Couldn't afford not to. If it had gone on guys like Meyers, Adams & Jacobs would have wanted out post-season leaving a much bigger rebuild. Got to bite the bullet and cut the losses at some point.

Mcdaniels is to arrogant to realize that he could be the real problem. He was hired for the same reason Hackett was hired to pair with a hall of fame QB that did not happen

We are learning that BB is the smartest guy in the room. He was always cold and calculated with and knew what to do in the right moments and had the answers to the test. He always lacked heart, and Emotional depth. Brady was the heart and soul of those teams. Brady took the coldness and attitude to use his brain while keeping everyone on the same page and building the relationships and buy in for all 53 guys. They organization treated the players like replaceable journeymen passing through. Never investing in the players. Losing to Jeff Saturday was the worst and I would have fired him that same day. Jeff literally walked out of a TV booth and onto the field with a team he didn't know and beat you, a long time coordinator with well over a decade of experience.

I give them a ton of credit for their long term success, but in a league that revolves around the idea of "what have you done for me lately?" how long does he get to right the ship? And for what it's worth, I put Mike Tomlin in that same boat. Lots of credit for his accomplishments, but where is the franchise going?
Antonio pierce was an incredibly intelligent player when I watched him play for the redskins. Had the playbook mastered in no time and commanded the defense pretty competently, I thought. I wish him the best. I’d also like to see more interims get 2 year contracts to see what they can do, if they are getting more wins than expected. Lot of 1/2 and dones for those guys, even the successful ones.
thank you for this video.... Raiders fans have seen like 20 coaches over like the last 32 years. I can honestly say McDonalds was the only one I ever wished to see fired. Never have I seen a guy take over a solid team and be like: "Naw, I need my guys" and it turn out so horrible.
It would be okay if he only did this on defense, but he tore up that whole offense too.
Same and same!! I’ve never hated any raider HC until mc💩 fucked everything up
I know the feeling.
I wanted Dennis Allen fired.
As a Raider fan I approve this message. I'm so glad Mc 🤡 is gone
When he got rid of Carr, you had to know he didn’t learn anything from his time in Denver.
Derek Carr sucks, he should’ve been let go along with McDaniels.
@@vbm2119Yeah, Obviously Jimmy was better...🙄
Moving on from Derek Carr probably was the right move, but how they did it and who they replaced him with considering how good this QB class looks so far is what’s the bigger issue, they could’ve got Anthony Richardson or Will Levis
@@vbm2119you don't know football so don't talk
@@itsjordandclayill always be conflicted with Carr. I understand he was getting older, injured, coming off his worst season and expensive, but the guy gave the team everything he had. Almost every year he had to learn a new system and he literally broke his back carrying the team. He'll always have my respect and I wish they would have taken care of him better. He's like a less abused Andrew Luck
I agree, the raiders need new ownership and we need it desperately
Maybe because he’s an arrogant toolbox that viewed his players as staff instead of as playmakers.
I’m going to miss him promoting the check down machine option and sending Davante to the hospital each week with Jimmy’s suicide passes.
Ran great guy and leader Derek Carr out of building for his own qb Jimmy g. How's that smart move looking right now with the handsome one benched for poor play?
@@vanceharkema5131Derek Carr sucks also. Lmaooo TF.
Whew!
As much as I maybe don’t love Taylor, he has been a unifying force for the Bengals along with Joe.
Yeah and I would say belichick is proving that he a another coach who isn’t very good without Brady.
@@seanbrown7881 Actually 3, but yea, he's not exactly "GrEaTeSt CoAcH oF aLl TiMe!" material when Brady isn't around.
Coach Pop actually along with Duncan created a winning culture that still seems to be working even if they aren’t winning titles anymore.
I’m a lifelong raiders fan , but I appreciate honesty and I really enjoyed your video 👍🏼
Bill Belichick to Josh McDaniels: You couldn't live with your own failure and where did that bring you? Back to me.
You know this was actually a very in-depth breakdown. Good job Brandon. Very insightful
I never have to be confused between Mike McDaniel and Josh McDaniels names ever again
as a Raiders Fan i can say THIS is definitly the best Intro for a new coach coming "straight outta compton" 6:18 🔥🔥🔥
Actually, paying Josh McDaniels to "not" coach your team is money very well spent! 😀
Raider fan here….great breakdown. One thing I noticed seeing McDaniels on the sidelines coaching in Vegas…..he would always be by himself. Nobody around him. Not talking to anyone…not hyping anyone up. It’s weird to see.
Rich should have stayed
The 2021 Raiders was a movie
Please bring back Rich Bisaccia. He knows how to get the Raiders to be Raiders. That's all you want
Teams need to stop hiring patriots coaches. The reason why those teams had so much success was Brady not the coaching staff.
@@easyenetwork2023
Almost every other team in the NFL has given a young QB that showed potential some kind of weapons and a decent coordinator. The fact that Mac Jones was a 1st round pick that showed promise and Belichick managed to masterfully screw him over is sad. It’s not like a Josh Rosen or Zach Wilson who actively looked like a flop, and I wouldn’t be surprised if part of Mac’s regression was due to him losing trust in Belichick’s abilities as a head coach and GM.
or maybe it was the insaaaaaane defenses those teams had?
yeah... brady held rams to 3 points in the sb
I’m a raiders fan and don’t really watch football content outside of my team. But I find your content wildly entertaining. Keep up the good work.
Bissaccia should've been their head coach. As a Packers fan I have this fleeting glimmer of hope that Lafluer and Barry will get fired mid season and Bisaccia will be named head coach.
The problem now is Pierce is stuck with Garoppolo.
@@TheFrenchPugWhich is why he’s benched him for O’Connell.
Bisaccia should still be there coaching for this team with how the players and fans felt towards him
Brandon, Congratulations on the win! Wasn’t able to comment on IG.
Damm, as a raiders fan, I never thought I'd like a broncos take. You were fair as hell
Thank you for reopening your emotional scars for our entertainment Brandon. We love you for it
McDaniels never should've been hired for another head coaching job.
Love you?
I don't know, do you love him?
I'm Ron Burgundy?
The fact McDaniels got let go before Staley is truly worthy of an entire senate committee investigation and full audit of the chargers franchise. Someone is getting a lil Krafty with the owner if you catch my drift.
*LOLWUT.*
@@mid-s_to_earlysViBEZ you heard me lol
As the late great Professor John Clayton called him "Joshy boy" McDaniels sucks. He never should've gotten hired by the broncos much less the raiders
*I miss John Clayton,* man… 🥺
Love the Bisaccia tributes in here. He deserved a cheap two-season deal and another year of Carr and Adams.
LETS GO AIDEN!!!! I’m rooting for him. Especially cuz when we were kids he was the only nice person to me! He was the only person who passed me the ball
What a king
*I can honestly say,* *BOTH OF THOSE PLAYERS,* are worth that compensation.
thank god that never happened. i don’t want to see lamar with an actually good WR
@@UserName-ts3sp Well the Ravens don't trade their 1st Round pick either. Plus they have solid receivers this year compared to years past.
@@UserName-ts3sp *Agholor, and OBJ, are good WR’s, TF you talkin’ about?*
The only thing McDaniels has ever done well was draft Demarius Thomas R.I.P
I think the interview went along the lines of...
"Josh, if I make you the Raiders HC, can you get me Tom Brady?"
"Yes Mark, I can."
Then Brady retired.
To be fair, John Gruden was helping the rebuild before the Ruggs and e-mail stuff
The "won't get fooled again' joke at the end is top tier comedy.

Raiders dropping Rich for McDummy is the most Mark Davis move ever
Basaccia was the right man for the job obviously. How was it possible that he wasn't even considered for the head coaching job? Sorry for the disrespect that you never deserved! LOVE YOU BASACCIA!
Well said
Mark Davis has the amazing ability to always pick the worst possible choice for head coach
Raiders and Broncos fans can unite over two things now hatred for the chiefs and hatred for Josh McDaniel
Perna, congrats on getting to 500k! Thank you for including the Zeppelin/GVF/The Who joke at the end, had me rolling. Happy belated birthday as well! Happy trails!
Oh I've been waiting for this one.
Raiders fans have heen asking for Aidan to start since the preseason. I'm glad you agree. He's got rookie tendencies no doubt, but he also has balls and actually throws to Renfrow. The sky is the limit.
The 1st thing Antonio Pierce did at Long Beach Poly was change the team’s uniforms an make his son a captain… then went on to make his team forfeit wins an get banned from the playoffs.. then he left an got in trouble at ASU!! Well it’s good to see one of my people fail up! Poly got better the moment he left
I mean he got in trouble at ASU for recruiting during Covid. How many people you think were doing that? Seems more like they made an example out of him & the other 4 coaches at ASU
Appreciate your content, my man
As much as Raiders and Broncos can join together an commiserate peacefully over McD…this Las Vegas franchise and fan base is fractured from within
The Derek Carr Civil War/Davis not being able to make a competent hire has broken the brains of RaiderNation and nothing short of achieving and sustaining success (winning meaningful playoff games) will be able to heal it
I really don’t see a path to that success opening up anytime soon
What's interesting about McDaniels is it's not just that he's a terrible head coach. In both Denver and Las Vegas, his players HATED him. There are a ton of failed NFL head coaches floating around, but usually the players don't hate their guts. Urban Meyer would be the only other example I can think of. A lot of similarities there.
And McDaniel’s was arguably never a great assistant. Urban at least has 3 National Titles as a coach.
As a Raiders fan this video was fucking awesome Brandon! Congrats on the victory over the Kansas City Swiftys!
I hope this means it’s the end of “the patriot way” - too many lives & teams have been ruined by it 😢
Broncos fans, I owe you an apology. I had no idea what you were really dealing with. Hopefully time will heal all wounds. -Raiders Fanatic
We dodged a big bullet by not losing Renfrow
4:33.... I'm dying lol!!!!!
Great video, my only criticism is that this video isnt longer!! Lol
I thought the Raiders couldn't afford to fire McDaniels.
Couldn't afford not to. If it had gone on guys like Meyers, Adams & Jacobs would have wanted out post-season leaving a much bigger rebuild. Got to bite the bullet and cut the losses at some point.
Dude, RaiderNation here. I LOVE YOUR ANALYSIS!! I liked and subscribed! We’ll probably hate each other being Raider/Bronco fans, but you are the BOMB! He deserved this, and so did the Raiders front office. Letting Bisaccia go after somehow holding that broken team together was unforgivable. If they’re smart, they’d try and rehire him for next year, or at bare minimum get him back on the team.

The narrative that Davis is "cash poor" has been debunked ad-nauseum. He's got plenty of $$. He's not as wealthy as the other owners, but dude doesn't have $$ issues.
I'm probably one of the very few regular viewers that's here pretty much entirely for the relentlessly excellent analysis & doesn't mesh with the humor that much (aside from the gloriously unhinged chaos that is the Very Honest NFL Power Rankings), but damn that AOC initials line absolutely killed me.
Brady was the guy that got the players to buy in and he had the guys back no matter what. He was the greatest leader of men. He knew BB was a hard ass but he was a smart hard ass. Without Brady all the BB Coaching tree does it do what they know and that is be the smartest guy in the room and the biggest Dick in the room. Never focusing on Player relationships or Buy in... Just do what I say when I say it. Its clear you need more than just the Xs and Os and Jimmys and Joes... You need leaders and people that care about each other. I know the movie Any Given Sunday is over the top but the look around speech really sums up why BB and his lackys are unsuccessful without Tom Brady.
Unfortunately the Blame really is ALL ON MARK DAVIS. The Gruden process of gutting the team was a TERRIBLE IDEA from the start. Seriously, Mark Davis is incompetent.
Hell, Indy dodged a bullet!!
Great work on the half million subs! You're good people. Enjoyed you on HBTC!
Won’t get fooled again? Isn’t that from the Who? Also, yeah, Bisaccia should have been given a chance for a full season as head coach. The players literally walked through fire for him and Derek Carr:
Im a Giant's fan and loved pierce on the super bowl team. And I hope he does a good job the rest of the way. Would not be shocked if he wins this week. Crosby might go off on this o line
I couldn’t believe they let rich go. And I was over the moon when the packers hired him
Losing to Jeff Saturday was the worst and I would have fired him that same day. Jeff literally walked out of a TV booth and onto the field with a team he didn't know and beat you, a long time coordinator with well over a decade of experience.
9:14 he literally did everything that he supposedly learned not to do.
Antonio Pierce will be the new Raiders Coach next seaon. He will at least get one more seaon to prove himself. Mark Davis after paying off Gruden's contract and now Josh McDaniel will try to cut costs and give Antonio the keys.
Thank goodness lions have a good coach
