- We are guided in by DOLPHINS under SPINNAKER in the final episode of our 10 part 2600 mile trans-atlantic OCEAN CROSSING. We left in our sailboat from St. Maarten 17 days ago on a doublehanded sail to Horta, Azores.
Are we still friends at the end? Did we make it? What is broken? Did we enjoy our time at sea? Do we get visited by the port police? Did we see any pirates? Will be we locked down or in quarantine?
Find out this and more in this relaxing video of our final days at sea.

So who is this crazy sailing couple that sails upwind across the Atlantic Ocean?
We are trying to sail around the world, West About, via Cape Horn and the Cape of Good hope.
This isn’t a Captain Ron movie, it’s the real deal. If it’s gonna happen, it will happen out there! Join us as we keep on trucking across the Atlantic, from St. Maarten to the Azores in this leg of our around the world circumnavigation.
Unlike some of the other new sailing channels, we are not just some Instagram models or sexy girls in bathing suits that don't know how to sail. We are experienced racing sailors that know how to get the best performance out of a boat, navigate in extreme conditions, and have lots of fun! So, we hope we don't have too many boat fails and keep it all about a beautiful sailboat sailing at her best!

We quit our jobs and launched our boat in July of 2019 and have sailed over 7,000 miles so far crossing oceans.

Like you, before we left we also watched the inspiring videos of s/v Delos, Sailing La Vagabonde, Project Atticus, and Gone with the Wynns to name a few. We have to take a moment to thank those that have gone before, and we hope that we can inspire you like we were. We learned a lot about living off the grid in a tiny hope from their and other RUclips videos. We are happy you are watching ours.
So, grab your coffee and sail across the ocean along with us as we conquer our biggest fear, the unknown of what lies ahead in our voyage. Welcome aboard!
Oh, and if you have a catamaran, we still love you! We will go upwind on our boat, and have drinks in the anchorage on yours :-)
One of the best sailing channels on youtube!
Thanks so much Randy!
Awesome voyage. Very nice videos.
Thank you!
I like the Bayview burgee at the end! Many NOODS were spent at that Yacht Club. I just found you today and will be following
Winning comment of the day! Good eye Phil! 😀👍Glad to have a fellow racer along for the ride.
That’s monte da guia in the horizon I used to deliver bread to the houses on top of that mountain when I was twelve years old before I came to the U S I’m resident in Massachusetts,Fall River mass to be exact. Love Horta that’s my city .
Thanks for the beautiful dolphin pics. Enjoy the town.😀 What was the purpose of the quarantine flag? You have been quarantine for 17 days.😉
We agree 100%, sailors at sea for >14 days shouldn't need more quarantine, but the flag, more waiting, and more testing, was a legal requirement to enter and strictly enforced during that time.
Lol instead of complaining about the following sea and a deep angle you guys just pop the kite and go. Love it.
Glad you guys made it congratulations 🎊 👏 💐 🥳
Thank you!!
Nice ! You guys did exactly what Roxy wanted ! Congratulations !

What an amazing adventure, I've watched every one of your passage. You two are so good, I really admire you both as sailors. It's great to have a teammate you can depend on and either one of you can take care of that boat. I'll keep tuning in, you keep turning out great videos!

Well done guys!

Hahaha! Thanks Bill!
Enjoyed the ride...
Hi Frans! Thanks for sailing along with us today!
You guy's must do it out in the open while at sea? lol I know I would..
LOL. We are keeping it rated PG around here.
You need a wind vane! ;-)
;-)
Looks like you were really enjoying those last days. Is it just a preference to hand steer when going upwind in those conditions or is it much more comfortable?
It's my favorite part of sailing personally, but also I do get prone to sea sickness so it helps a little with that. This autopilot couldn't drive as well in the waves either. Ultimately it's nice to get some dress air too of the sun is out! -Kate
Great crossing, great sailing, great boat
Congratulations guys🥂
One question” what make and model is your great sailboat ⛵️?
Thanks
D
It's a J Boat - J46
Thank you Demetris. @B M has the right answer :-)
Roxie is so cute
What boat are you guys sailing I am busy looking around but can’t make up my mind . People say full keel stepped mast i am looking in the 36 to 41ft . So unsure
Hi Ian. Ours is a J Boats J/46. There are way too many variables for one RUclips comment. But....all kinds of boats sail the oceans, it really depends on what you like, fits your budget, sailing style, and comfort level. You will know when you find the one for you! We have met new friends in small slow boats with no ammenities to big fast million dollar yachts. A sundowner with friends tastes just as good and the view is the same on both! If you decide you want some more personal help with boat selection, we offer personal messaging on Patreon so we can spend more time helping you on your boat hunt. Good luck and see you out here!
@@SailingSweetRuca really appreciate the feedback many thanks
8:52, was that a dolphin breaching the water over her left shoulder?
Think it may have been a bird.
Just double checked, indeed a bird! Wouldn't be surprised if it was a dolphin as we saw so many!
Correctly using VHF marine radio initial call transmissions procedures are rarely studied. When obtaining your restricted radio operators permit does not require any such course. What I hear incorrectly all too often is repeating station calling and working 3 times for normal transmissions. You should use 2X's transmission for initial call of a potentially UNMONITORED stations. Better just once if no response call again. Then just talk normal, no need for "OVER" after each transmission. According to regulations only emergency distress, urgency and safety transmissions require a repetitive calling. This operating procedure has seemed to fester into a standard call procedure for normal calls throughout the amateur marine VHF community. Routine calling procedures require name and/ or other identifying information of the station being called, spoken once only. The three times should only be used for distress, whether for Sucurite, Pan or MayDay
Great info Mr. Bo Jangles :-) Thanks!
