- Brewing tea is an art-with a lot of science thrown in. So when Cherry Healy discovered that her tea-making technique was falling short, she turned to a scientist for help. Everything from choosing the type and color of cup, to the quality of water, to the absolute minimum brew time required needs to be considered.

As an absolute tea lover and obsessed perfectionist over the perfect cup , 😅 (as I consider a good cup of tea the best daily treat on earth ) I really appreciate this 🥰🥰🥰
Likewise! Loving the science behind this to make my morning tea even better.
Loved that smug look on his face. Lol
No mention of water temperature having a role? Missed opportunity!
Also I'm curious about the tannins binding with milk molecules...did I miss it? Ive read about this, because black tea makes me throw up
I like it strong, so however long I steep it for I always squeeze the bag too.
Unless I just leave it in there for the whole cuppa!
I saw this a few years ago in BBC and i have been following their advice everyday since seeing this
I literally just let my tea bag sit in my tea the entire time until I’m done drinking it except green tea it gets bitter
Who knew? Fascinating!
I do let my tea steep longer, BECAUSE I love strong tea. I ALSO have preferred cups for different drinks.
Coffee cup, tea cup, Milk Cup, Juice Cup... I have a cup fetish.🥰
You never use styrofoam, Never pour boiling water on a teabag. always fill the cup first then steep the tea baf inthe water,
This is absolutely a video from about five years ago. Also, I thought they mentioned water temperature in the original...
Edit: Yup. The BBC uploaded this four years ago, and it's the second video when searching for "The perfect cuppa."
As I understand it water temperature is also important and that different teas require different brewing temps. Additionally, I don't believe any tea should be brewed with boiling water. YMMV
I would never leave the spoon in my cup while steeping....it takes the heat from the water. I also add hot water to warm my cold up before I add the water.
This fascinates me. I would never think of seeping my tea that long. I do seep it for about three minutes but never longer.
All of the time and energy that went into this study and they did not consider the temperature of the water and how it impacts the finished product. Absolute shame lol
There is your clue in how hot the water is at boiling point. One could also include the time of the year in how long one must steep their tea. ( summer V winter )
leave out the cow juice.
Lifetime tea lover . However , I object to the red cup idea - don't care for red anything at all , ever ! My preferred tea cups are shades of blue - calming colors ... ahhhhh... Not mentioned was the smells of different teas - we smell a food or beverage before we taste it , which then influences our sense of taste . ☕
Make tea like the Chinese,& Japanese 😅 I’ve never drink coffee 😮 Tea toddler 😊
i'm hoping you're older then a youngster `toddler'. i think you mean Teetotaler. Which means you abstain from alcohol. lol
@@theonlypinky thank you very much! For correcting this old Man's spelling! Kitten 🐈
I can make a perfect cup of tea ☕
This's the most british thing, hillarious.
Only Brits would put this much scientific information into making a cup of tea lol.
🤠💜
So what is her name?
What about pre-heating the cup before pouring hot water over the tea?
It makes as much difference as filtered water
The delicate brewing of a good organic tea should almost never be rushed.
RTG
Tom Scott did it first
Milk in tea is a sin.
I just microwave the water and double dip the bag for 2 seconds. That's correct, right
Questi due figuranti non sanno nemmeno cos'è una buona tazza di tè!
