I have a question. Could I do this same method to join two PVC pipes together to make an antenna mast? If I make the inside sleeve longer with more for the other pipe to grab onto , maybe about a 12-inch inside sleeve. Maybe 6 inches of sleeve in each pipe for strength. I want to make a PVC Mast out of 2-10 FT 1 1/2" inch PVC schedule 40 pipe.
Do not do this! Code violation not to mention his carelessness when cutting. Also a huge waste of your time, just buy a coupling and don't be dumb.

You are reduceing the piece to more of a blockage problems for a later stage

You ve just created a lip on insde of pipe which in time will catch debris and block .not a good idea.
