I REALLY love these rims, I plan to get a set for my is 300 Lexus. They look so similar to the super rs BBS rims which are my favorite but out of my price range. These rims when custom painted and a few other mods easily rival their 1,300usd a wheel cousins.

yeah these aren't bad for the $250 I picked them up for! $120 to powdercoat centers, and maybe another $100 or so in polishing materials and metal protectant.

Looks really nice man I'm in the middle of sanding my first wheel. Interested in how you seal up the bare metal? Constantly wax or clear coat? If clear coat which brand or did you powder coat?

What's up man I have the style 5s and started with a rustoelum aircraft remover to remove all the clear coat then just polished they came out decent but on I notice the barrel is full of sun spots and smudged that I can't get off, would sanding the wheels help remove all that? If so what kinds of sand grits do I have to use thanks alot man

Hey man i was wondering if those bolts start to rust ? do you paint them? i have a set and i would like to know how to get them to not rust

hey did you figure it out .. they will rust after soaking them in white vinegar , just use wire wheel to clean them up and use the polish to protect it . I've done it like that and haven't had a problem so far

I ended up soaking in vinegar then sand blasting them, once blasted i passed them through the wire wheel. Then got them electroplated, worked out pretty nice, still shining.

Any recommendations to approach the curb rash? Specific products would help, thanks!

after stripping down to bare metal, I used a grinding stone and a dermal tool to feather out the curb rash. then used wet sand paper to blend it into the rest of the wheel- starting with about 220 up to 400. that should allow it to blend in with the rest of the barrel and begin the starting process to wet sand the entire barrel for polishing purposes.

Did you clear coat them after you polished them? Or do they stay polished even with regular use and cleaning?

I used a metal protectant product called Shark Hide that seals the polished metal. wheels have been out in the (summer) elements for 6 months, many washings, and still look like the day they were polished. Shark Hide applies a film of sorts on the metal- lasts for years. it is removable- I believe the recommend thinner to remove. the only issue I have with the product- is that it leaves a slight rainbow sheen- like a soap bubble's sheen. it is very faint, only noticeable up close- but its there. I would research another metal protectant to use again. I did not want to clear coat, because clear coat is what got us in this situation to begin with- it lifts and fails over time, corrodes from underneath, and you have to strip and start all over.

2:37 Let's clarified here, the chromed cup is not original to the BBS RC-090 stock wheels from BMW. If you look closely it do not have the same web style....BUSTED!!

RobertKeyPro so true but you can look online and purchase a custom set that looks exactly like his. I found a set online for about 300usd.

trahouston 300 usd?? You are crazy? I brought a set of 4 bbs rc 090 for 400 cad, used but straight, only 1 with some walkside mark.

RobertKeyPro I haven't personally bought it but wouldn't mind b/c of the quality. Its a custom BBS billet aluminum waffle plate/press in hex combo. Its completely chrome unlike the plastic you'd see on your average wheel and looks exactly like the BBS super rs. The BBS super rs is around 1,300 a wheel and if you price compare that to the chrome BBS wheels of the same make you could end up saving thousands by recreating the same wheel.
Just to clarify, it's the hexagon and the center cap chromed out and custom made.

Busted? I didn't know I was trying to hide anything! These are BMW RC 090. a common mod is to use a chrome center hex cap from an early Lincoln Town Car- no secrete buddy. I used center hub covers from 16" E34 wheels because the "webbing" comes all the way down to the chrome hex cap, unlike the E39. again, not trying to fool anyone! very common mod to do.
