The file explorer shouldn't matter, as he was doing things most can do without issue. Personally I use an app called *Androzip* , which is both a file explorer and zip file opener/ creator. It's good on the phone's resources, fairly intuitive, and has no problems. Even though the free version has ads, I find then unobtrusive as well. I would recommend it.
