Seems many of the younger generations flock to the music of 60's and 70's, our time, the music of the Boomers. It is great to see, what a time it was for music, but we didn't realize at the time, how special it was.
Michelle & John wrote this on a cold day in NY and they were wishing that they were back in LA. Michelle is the only one left. She went into acting and had a long stint as Anne on the night time soap Knots Landing. The Ms & Ps were a soap opera irl themselves.
Such a great song by The Mamas & The Papas; and Cass Eliot has such a distinct sound. But there's a truly GREAT funk version of this song by the legendary guitarist Eddie Hazel who played with the band Parliament-Funkadelic. You can check it out on youtube at the title ... California Dreamin' (On the channel: "Eddie Hazel - Topic") Thanks for doing The Mamas & The Papas version tho; one of those songs that takes you back to that period. Hope you get feelin better.
A most groovy reaction! The Mamas & The Papas are: Denny Doherty- lead/harmony vocals, Cass Elliot- harmony vocals, John Phillips- harmony vocals, and Michelle Phillips- harmony vocals. If you really are diggin' this song you should check out Eddie Hazel's P-Funk cover of the song - it will blow your mind!!!
Hey, Ashley, in reference to this song's title, John Phillips, the guy who was playing the guitar, had written this song as a means of cheering up his wife, Michelle, who was wanting to be back home in California, while they were in New York during the winter months, recording material for an upcoming album
This is one of those special songs that defined the 60's.
Love your top, Ashley!
They going crazy for real. Super Groovy
Big Mama Cass could sing!
Great reaction!!!
