Every time I see reaction to this song, I just wait for the light bulb to go off and you figure it out... yours was a hard stop, all 4 wheels brakes locked skrrrrt! LOL - you are real and fantastic!
This song is based on a real experience when the band's manager met a lady at a club where the band was performing only to discover later that said She was actually a He.
I just typed Lola reactions and found you. I was born in 67 and know the song well. I love seeing when people realize what the songs about. I just subscribed to you. I haven't seen your library yet, but you should react to Walk on the wild side by Lou Reed. I enjoyed your reaction.
I couldn't wait to see you face, lovely lady, your expression when it clicked was absolutely priceless! The line is, "Now I'm not the world's most masculine man but I know what I am and I'm glad I'm a man and so is Lola."
Most people do not pick up on the words the first listen. I probably didn't realize what this song was about until 5 or 10 years ago. I always just grooved to the song.
No you're on the right track, Lola was a trans or at least a cross dresser. Considering this song was released in 1970 that was some pretty heady stuff but it was a really popular song so the radio stations had to play it, reluctantly.
The Kinks were one of the great British Invasion bands of the early to mid 60s, but were band from the US for several years. I think it helped keep them more uniquely English. That and Ray Davies song writing.
"Now I'm not the world's most masculine man but I know what I am and I'm glad I'm a man and SO IS LOLA"!!! Or Lola is also glad HE is a man! 🙄 Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎🤟🏼🎸
If I may make a request - this is a long performance video, but pretty epic by Bruce Springsteen & The Street Band: ruclips.net/video/r1twvwbB_cU/видео.html Thanks for your great reactions!
I almost died laughing. When it clicks, and someone is like "Wait...what?" is too funny.
The look on your face was priceless. All the verses leading up that end show you what was going on
