Dude I worked at a Body Shop for 3 years eventually becoming a painters helper. Prepping stuff for paint in the booth. Scuffing, sanding, priming even some wet sanding and buffing. I carry all that stuff in my mods. It’s honestly great advice, cause all the concepts are pretty much the same. When my girl and I buy a house next fall, I’m buying a cheap Ait Compressor and an HVLP gun so I can start using Single Stage instead of spray paint. It’ll be cool to use better paint with more metallic colors. But great suggestion man!!
This is the channel that got me started on modding, its what got me interested and down the rabbit hole i went, i seriously couldn't have started without this channel, pretty much everyone else uses expensive tools to achieve their mods and they have expensive hardware that fills it out, without seeing this i wouldn't have a foundation to start on, you taught me basic skills i could use basic tools for and achieve a great finish, you also showed me that you dont need a high end rgb waterloop or some crap to fill it out and make it look good, thanks to you im embarking on my first mod that really encorperates everything ive learned and coming up with my own ideas, my little cousin wants to learn how to do case modding, i let him loose on but tech to see what the high end stuff is like and for him to gain interest but pretty soon im gonna send him here for teaching materials and a solid foundation and so he can see all the cool things you can do with a basic set of tools, this channel is fantastic and i cant wait to see how it progresses over time and to see what you will do as you get more skilled and get more tools as well
Also with the painting thing i lnow how to properly paint and i still some how cant keep myself from doing the same thick coats with no waiting inbetween

Thanks for your honest review of your past work. You can see the progress and it's helpful information for everyone. Just a comment that will likely get horribly flamed... When working with a Dremel, especially when cutting metal, wear ear protection. And eye protection. It's why old dentists are deaf on one side of their head.
That rainbow six siege xbox was freakin siiiick dude. Nice video. I, too did some crappy mods on my first PC lol. I used a dremmel to cut a hole in the front and put some magnetic dust covers behind it. It turned out okay but I eventually just switched to a better case lol.
I'm honestly glad you didn't delete the older stuff - I'm planning to mod the crap out of my P400A in a couple of years or so, and I learned a whole lot from your Stranger Things build that essentially uses the same chassis, except without the nice front panel mesh they added last year. The older, more noob-like stuff, might make you cringe, but for any new modder like myself I honestly learn more from seeing someone else go through their first attempts in an honest fashion, rather than just having an expert do a timelapse and leave it at that.
Proper tools do make a big difference. Like when you use to cut out and draw the vinyl. Having the printer that cuts it is night in day. Been here for awhile always like what you do. He builds are not my thing I like the process
You do awesome work! Just an FYI, isopropyl alcohol works great for removing Sharpie off acrylic. As for painting, I hear you. I am into RC and have gotten better over the years, but definitely NOT my strong suit, lol. One method that may help you is to wet sand between coats. This especially works great on steel cases. In fact, you can actually use wax to get a super nice finish. Always looking foward to your uploads, you are doing an amazing job and thank you for sharing.
There's loads of vinyls out there. There's heat-transfer vinyl and specialty adhesive vinyl, cast and calendared, etc. The most popular adhesive vinyls are Oracal 631 which is the indoor type, and Oracal 651 which is outdoorsy with a stronger adhesive that cures like a cement. For painting, I personally use Oramask 810/811/813. 810 specifically is awesome for solvent-based paints. I've been following you since your first upload, it's awesome seeing you work and improve with each mod. Keep up the great work, can't wait to see more collaborations between you and your wife! c:

I love seeing the progression in this , I’m still in the beginner stage as you might call it , like no actual power tools except for a drill, spending like an entire day to saw out and sand an acrylic sheet and hours and hours of vinyl cutting with a hobby knife, My first actual pc modification was actually a gpu backplate based on your video after that I think it was a radiator shroud based on a build from designsbyifr , I’m currently still a broke teenager but I’m looking forward to get new equipment and tools bit by bit in the future, anyway loved the video and it’s great to have you back !
You've come a long way! Last year I once commented on one of the videos that I'd buy acrylic sheets to make a GPU backplate, still haven't done that... but only cause I don't deal much with backplate-less cards anymore. I did order two sheets back then and I'm about to replace the side window on a Nanoxia case which looked fine from the outside but a look inside revealed that all places where the window was mounted were about to snap off any moment.
This video was awesome! Yes, you have come a long way. I am getting back into modding from decades of inactivity (yes, I'm old) but how you think outside of the box impresses me. When you start deleting your older videos I would delete them slowly so as not to impact overall statistic at once. I don't know that a big purge of videos would have a negative impact but I usually do a little bit at a time. Just my opinion. Keep up the great work!

Coming on nice bud. You'd get better results with the LED strips if you first use a heatgun along the edges of the acrylic/Plexi first. That way it's nice and clear, just like glass. Then back with tin-foil including along the edges, shiny side facing in for max brightness, dull side facing in for a more dispersed effect. You can either stick it on, or for best results sandwich between another piece of acrylic/Plexi, just welding the very edges that are out of sight with plumbing joint glue or modeling glue(they're a bit thicker so won't run into the workpiece). 👍

Have you ever considered nail polish for painting? Not sure how these specific plastics would react but given it is used on plastic nails it shouldn't be too bad. I used them here and there for minor touch ups, they make for a surprisingly cool paint imho
I hate it when people don’t use primer filler and primer before they start painting. And also I hate it when someone paint the whole thing in one go, as you’ve mentioned you need to light coat it first then wait for it to dry (I mean really dry) and then proceed with the second finishing coat. And please add clear coating (multi layer) for protection. Don’t let the paint bare naked.

Ive been using spray paint for 20 years. Im still learning new tricks and techniques. Ive literally gone thru hundreds of thousands of cans and mastering it isn't easy. It doesn't help that each brand, color and can acts differently than the last lol.
watercooling is not expensive if you got tools and know what you're doing. :) custom waterblocks and silicon tubing is where it's at if one wants cheap. i might argue that going full aluminium is a good plan if material cost is too high, machining is equally annoying but copper can be soldered way easier with just 60/40 solder wire and a butane blowtorch and lets you stay faaaaar away from potentially leaks from o-rings. the goal of course is to bring the noise floor to a point so low it's inaudible so yeah not recommended for apu builds that are already pretty much silent. :)
@@bitdrive7971 naaah you're going full pro with that kinda money from my perspective m8. :D i meant dremel hacksaw drill and a vice to keep stuff from fleeing while hand machining is all you need for most stuff. for lapping a thikk glass block and some sandpaper sheets of different grains. oh add some el-cheapo drill/cut bits, and a hammer. yeah. hammering helps tons. need a CAD for designing stuff? there are many free options, i use blender of all things.. it works for me. :) for me it's the raw material that's a problem, copper plates prices surely sting the wallet but luckily i already got both blocks and a radiator from the early 2000s. TIME especially and experience are the most expensive parts of any diy project for sure is a fact i give you that.

I've been following you for some time and I dote on some of your methods and technique. I do some modifying, myself and have really enjoyed some of your tips and suggestions. Ha! Ha! Basically, most cases really aren't ideal and imo, need improvement. Currently, I'm in the build process of making a Hobbit-themed PC using Texas Red Cedar and carving images into the wood.

i stopped modding my PCs, rather quickly, after i thought about it. does this mod make my system run faster, cooler, reliable or more efficient? if the answer was no to any of these questions, i did not do it. 100% of my budget goes into better parts. hey, if you want to flush your money down the toilet just to make your computer look good, who am i to stop you from putting lipstick on a pig.

You may erase sharpie lines by getting a dry erase marker over the sharpie line then wiping it off.

i meant dremel hacksaw drill and a vice to keep stuff from fleeing while hand machining is all you need for most stuff.
for lapping a thikk glass block and some sandpaper sheets of different grains.
oh add some el-cheapo drill/cut bits, and a hammer. yeah. hammering helps tons.
need a CAD for designing stuff? there are many free options, i use blender of all things.. it works for me. :)
for me it's the raw material that's a problem, copper plates prices surely sting the wallet but luckily i already got both blocks and a radiator from the early 2000s.
TIME especially and experience are the most expensive parts of any diy project for sure is a fact i give you that.

The ninth mod is my favorite! I was surprised when you took it down. What vinyl cutter/printer do you use by the way? I don't know what I should be looking for in one.

I've been following you for some time and I dote on some of your methods and technique. I do some modifying, myself and have really enjoyed some of your tips and suggestions. Ha! Ha! Basically, most cases really aren't ideal and imo, need improvement. Currently, I'm in the build process of making a Hobbit-themed PC using Texas Red Cedar and carving images into the wood.
Wood cases are awesome! I have plans for wood stuff too :)

You don't need to, it won't dry inside the tube, it will evaporate on metal

i stopped modding my PCs, rather quickly, after i thought about it. does this mod make my system run faster, cooler, reliable or more efficient? if the answer was no to any of these questions, i did not do it. 100% of my budget goes into better parts. hey, if you want to flush your money down the toilet just to make your computer look good, who am i to stop you from putting lipstick on a pig.
