  • A two handle Moen Kitchen Faucet that is leaking water at the swivel at the base of the spout can be repaired. After removing the cap on top of the spout, you can access the metal body of the faucet which contains two o-rings. Replace the O-rings and that should stop the leak.
If you are the original purchaser of the Moen faucet, there is a lifetime warranty for the parts. Make sure you keep the receipt and the installation instructions that come with the faucet. I've owned this faucet since 2006 and Moen always sends me free parts. They don't try to discourage you by making it difficult. It's usually just a quick phone call and the parts show up in a week or two.
They sent me a plastic diverter. When I tried to turn the old one out of the faucet body, it didn't feel right and I am sure it was starting to round out the hex sided hole. I stopped and didn't go any further. The sprayer works pretty good and I doubt the diverter really needs to be replace. For sure, it was going to be stuck in there and I might have to break it to get it out. I could damage the faucet. I opted out.
In the past, I've tried to take O-rings from a Moen faucet to the hardware store. The ones I took to the store were not standard sizes.

Thank you! Been thinking to do what you did for my own that leaks but simply clean the spout and see if leak stops. Not sure if this would work but if this can limit spending. I don't know.

I've found that those 2 O-rings deteriorate over time. This faucet has been in place since 2006. This is the 3rd time I've replaced those O-rings. If the faucet is around 7-8 years old, for sure those O-rings are no good. After you disturb them, they will likely leak more. Replacements sell on eBay for $7-8. See link. You might be able to take the old ones to a good hardware store that stocks a full supply of O-rings, however, in the past, I've found many faucet O-rings to be odd sizes. It's probably best to just buy the OEM parts or if you are the original purchaser, call Moen and they will send the parts for free.

What is the purpose for the bearing washer on the spout? I see you didn't use the large rubber o ring. Is that an extra part that is not needed?

The bearing washers prevent metal to metal contact. No I didn't use the big o ring. The washer kit is used on more than one faucet model. That big o ring must be used on another model. You just need the 2 smaller ones for this faucet.
