Good news, Hard to kill an A series but I can't wait to see this tried with a Tesla sat 20 years in the future!

So glad to see such detailed info as you're working through this. I'd recommend moving the fuel filter before the pump, and also not using a plastic filter in the engine bay. I've done that and had the filter soften and detach while headed down the freeway at 65MPH...Fun times!

Thanks @JPMergens for the comment. My thinking was that as I bungle my way through the renovation work if and when things go wrong if I have covered in enough details I can backtrack and see where things went wrong!

I really did expect the engine to be dead! So very happy I managed to resurrect it!

WAY too much oil put in that dash pot on the carb , oil pressure , you should have cranked it longer . would have made sense when the head was off , to check crank bearings and big end shells . also check piston ring gap . i would have fitted a new oil pump as they dont cost much if i had stripped it that far . I suspect you are a hobbyist mechanic by your odd tool board behind you . but at least it running in a fashion .

Cheers, yes just a tinkerer, learning stuff by doing and hoping for the best. Thanks for the advice.
