Airing down, both the car and van is ALWAYS a good idea when on soft sand, mud etc. Do it before you get stuck, that way you're not as likely to get stuck.
What date were you guys out there? I took my 20 foot van out there 2 weeks ago and lucky for me, they were heading the first 1/3 of the track. Still plenty of water around, and I got hung up on the last 50m by taking the wrong line in the soft sand 😂 I took the northern access track from Bundy.

This Was last year, so many rabbit holes you can go down and get stuck ahha
I didn't see any boggings
Low range and air out got us back on top pretty quick in the soft sand
