Hey there! I hope you enjoyed this video. I would love to know if it was helpful if you've never used a Gelli plate before, and also what you thought of my bonus tip at the end. Thank you as always for stopping by. xo.
@@EvelineUK Hi Eveline! I'm looking at them right now, and I don't see any kind of name or brand or them. Maybe try searching "texture comb" for painting or printing. I found mine randomly at the art store a couple of years ago. Too funny about hair products coming up, I can see why! xo.
I love this! and your commentary is great. Its all about trial and error. I just started Mono printing about 3 weeks ago and I've had many epic fails. Great video!
I love to watsh people doing prints, you always got an ideer how to make things, pattern, struktue or just have fun. But I do have a little trick for you...if you lay your gelli plate on a glass (eg from a picture frame) or a big tile it wont move that much (it would bothers me doing prints and the plate is moving the hole time 😉). And if your glass is big enough you can also use it do do stamping. Have fun every body and keep beeing creativ. Thank you for sharing your way of doing.
Hello! Yes, such a good tip. Mine does slip around too much 🤭 I still have the plastic film on the back, in hopes of protecting it. But I will get a piece of glass just for use with my plate. Thank you!
These are some of the best gelli prints I’ve seen, and I watch a lot of videos about it. I love the organic shapes of your masks. They make the prints look less contrived than commercial stencils. Love this video!❤️ Thanks for the ideas!😀
Hi Lori! Gosh, that's such a kind thing to hear. I'm so so happy you enjoyed this video. I really like making my own masks and stencils, all the more unique! Have fun experimenting :)
Hi Sally! I actually created a small collection with these papers! They're on my website, www.toniweberstudio.com I hope to create another video making papers + an art work next time! Thank you for watching :)
Thank you so much! I love using my Gelli plate but have not used enough layers for much more interesting collage. This was very helpful. Can’t wait to get started! Great bonus tips!😊
Hello! That is so great, I really love hearing that you feel inspired to create more layers. I know you will love it! Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts with me. :)
I absolutely loved this!! I am going to have to do this with my kids. This is a new technique I definitely need to try. So beautiful and that little toe tapping bird was so sweet 😊💜

Hi Hilda! Thank you so much for watching. I'm excited that you're inspired to try something new! So much to learn, do, and experiment with out there. Expansion always has much to offer. xo.
Do you have any advice on the best weight for large scale prints say in A3/A2 (UK sizes)? Any paper under 200gsm warps when there is too much acrylic. I need to roll the paper into tubes to send out to customers but can't source reasonable paper weights in large sizes unless finding fine art papers that cost a fortune per sheet.
Very nice, I much prefer organic shapes too such as what you've done. So inexpensive to make your own masks and stencils, you end up with a more artistic looking piece too.
Hi Toni.. LOVE this video Thankyou (Ive watched ALOT and love your style yay, happy to have found you). I'm curious what happens at 7.23mins in the U shapes have no black in them just a fine line outline... how did you get this??? wahhh I've replayed and replayed and can't figure it out.... any tips to get these beautiful outlines??? Thanks for your response if you ever read this 🙏
Hi Kobi! I'm so happy you enjoyed this. Thank you for sharing that with me! So the U shapes don't have any black on the print that I pulled because the U shapes on the gelli plate were masking, or blocking the black paint from transferring to the print. Does that make sense? I hope I understood your question correctly. :)
Hi Suzanne! I find cleaning the plate with a baby wipe works better than just water. Best to clean it off every 3-4 pulls I think, especially the edges. They can get build fast.
Beautiful prints… love the layers, the colors… What is the Golden fluid paint you are using? In spite of seeming creamy opaque when you apply it, it shows pretty transparent over previous layers. I like the distressed look it gives.
Hi there! Thank you so much for your comment. The color is Titan Buff. It has been a staple color for me! I love how it tones down intense colors perfectly. I try to apply it thinly when I want a more transparent look. Otherwise, it can be very opaque. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for your reply. The thin translucent layer is also probably because it’s fluid paint and not from the tube. Keep sharing your beautiful process…
Hi Debi, Mine stick somewhat too. But you shouldn't be having a hard time peeling them up all together. Are you maybe leaving them on the plate too long so that the paint is drying too much? That's the only thing I can think of.

What is the tool called that you use to make the patterns? I tried looking for 'gel comb' but that comes up with hair styling products. ;)

Being mindful of opacity of your paints/colors will allow for more of your original print to come through when printing 2nd and 3rd layers!
