  • Every year, offshore anglers stare longingly at the Gulf of Mexico, just counting the days until they can drop cut, live or artificial baits down to the red snapper that absolutely carpet the bottom.
Well, that season opened less than two weeks ago, and I got to get in on the fun while fishing a media event for the Golden Meadow-Fourchon Tarpon Rodeo. Let's just say we didn't have any trouble catching our limits.

You have turned me into a firm believer in keeping the fish on ice in the refrigerator. That was an absolute game changer. Thanks for the continuous great content!

Couldn't agree more. I haven't frozen a fillet in at least 15 years.

@MarshManMasson You can keep Filletts frozen for quite a while in water . Totally covered . Red meat also in water always keeps very well . Especially wild game . Never vacuumed pack duck breast or venison. Or whole duck or goose freeze in gallon zip lock and squeeze until water seeps thru the zipper close completely. Keeps unless the blood isn't fresh or still Red. Brown blood is no good.

I’ve been fishing my entire life and love watching anyone that promotes fishing. I will say though there’s nothing endangered when it comes to fish. These seasons and limits are out of control. So many fish out the line doesn’t even have time to hit bottom.

Favorite way to cook snapper is on wood planks on the grill. Good to see you in Lafourche Parish.

Going offshore fishing in a few weeks. Will have to try this recipe out. Tip to avoid the oil splash damage, it’s always a good practice to lay the filets away from you.

@@MarshManMasson awesome.... thats about the same when I launch out of Leeville..
FYI... those fish fillets... place em in the pan closest to you and lay it away from you... minimizes getting sprayed with grease...ask me how I know!!!🤪

You're right. The stabilization features on the cameras have gotten so sophisticated, you can't tell by what you see on the screen. At times, it was difficult to stand up.

Lay down the fish away from you. It’ll avoid splashing oil on yourself

Most Guides are horrible ripoffs . Never do a Snapper trip they catch your 2 and head to the bank to get the next suckered family or group. Tell them No damn Snapper No bull reds . If they say that's all that's what's biting move on
    .

Can't believe they won't even drop a single hook and they are reeling them in too. Probably have a Quota or selling them to boat that they know . We're they throwing any back.
