- Every year, offshore anglers stare longingly at the Gulf of Mexico, just counting the days until they can drop cut, live or artificial baits down to the red snapper that absolutely carpet the bottom.
Well, that season opened less than two weeks ago, and I got to get in on the fun while fishing a media event for the Golden Meadow-Fourchon Tarpon Rodeo. Let's just say we didn't have any trouble catching our limits.
Check out the video for all the details!

You have turned me into a firm believer in keeping the fish on ice in the refrigerator. That was an absolute game changer. Thanks for the continuous great content!
Couldn't agree more. I haven't frozen a fillet in at least 15 years.
Totally agree!!!! 2 weeks easy on ice water in the refer no problem....makes me wonder what the limit is ?
@MarshManMasson You can keep Filletts frozen for quite a while in water . Totally covered . Red meat also in water always keeps very well . Especially wild game . Never vacuumed pack duck breast or venison. Or whole duck or goose freeze in gallon zip lock and squeeze until water seeps thru the zipper close completely. Keeps unless the blood isn't fresh or still Red. Brown blood is no good.
I’ve been fishing my entire life and love watching anyone that promotes fishing. I will say though there’s nothing endangered when it comes to fish. These seasons and limits are out of control. So many fish out the line doesn’t even have time to hit bottom.
Y’all at my favorite place in the world. We down there every weekend
It looks so yummy. Thank you for sharing 👍
I'll be trying the Hawks Hot Sauce.
Thanks
Very good informative vidoe,
and skillet cooking is right on.
Often jealous of yall on the east side of the state. 40 miles out of Lake Charles and its still only 40ft deep.
Favorite way to cook snapper is on wood planks on the grill. Good to see you in Lafourche Parish.
Delicious!! Cool to see you down in Fourchon!
Going offshore fishing in a few weeks. Will have to try this recipe out. Tip to avoid the oil splash damage, it’s always a good practice to lay the filets away from you.
Definitely true
Great video love your catch and cooks Mr.Todd!!
great video at least you weren't in the marsh with the horseflies
Great catch and cook video. I need to go catch some fresh fish and try that recipe, it looks so simple but tasty.
Need about $ 4 grand and they will reel them in so they don't loose any time getting back to pick up the next ones .
4k for 2 people and 6 k if you only have 2 people
And that's on a 25 ' boat
Try W sauce and I use my black stone even though I have a bunch of cast iron skillets no smoke in the house
How long were you fishing 30 minutes
You should have been complaining because they had another charter waiting on you to bring back the dinks.
I like the Hawk Habanero hot sauce. Don't let the Habanero fool you it's not too spicy
Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a try.
Do you use this same recipe on your trout?
How far out was that run to 120ft?
We were in South Timbalier 151. I would guess 30-35 miles out.
@@MarshManMasson awesome.... thats about the same when I launch out of Leeville..
FYI... those fish fillets... place em in the pan closest to you and lay it away from you... minimizes getting sprayed with grease...ask me how I know!!!🤪
hope some of those passengers took their Bonine ... videos never do the seas justice. looked bumpy
You're right. The stabilization features on the cameras have gotten so sophisticated, you can't tell by what you see on the screen. At times, it was difficult to stand up.
Why 4 baits when U can only keep 2 throwing most back in that deep water will die got to be better way to catch limit.
Lay down the fish away from you. It’ll avoid splashing oil on yourself
Most Guides are horrible ripoffs . Never do a Snapper trip they catch your 2 and head to the bank to get the next suckered family or group. Tell them No damn Snapper No bull reds . If they say that's all that's what's biting move on
.
Drop down for Trigger fish and you catch all the Snapper.
Can't believe they won't even drop a single hook and they are reeling them in too. Probably have a Quota or selling them to boat that they know . We're they throwing any back.
