My 2019 CX3 is the best car I have ever owned. My driveway can get more that 12 inches of snow blown off the farmers field next to me. I have only got stuck once in 3 years and all it took was some kitty litter and a push to get out of 18 inches of wet snow, I tend to turn off the traction control when I need to build speed on slippery hills.
now that is what I wanted to see, got one of these this weekend after last winter being stuck multiple times after a storm. thank you for this review

Most exciting off-road review I have seen. Well done. It seems that this AWD system is better than average.
I've had my CX-3 GT since September, and I absolutely love it. I take it up to Snoqualmie (near Seattle) weekly for skiing, and it does surprisingly well on just all-season tires. It's not fast by a mile, but it's not unreasonably slow either. As for the rear-cargo room, what exactly are you trying to haul back there anyways? It fits groceries, and my skis (barely, but it does). And it's a very, very fun car to drive.

If he can't get a piano in there its not a good suv.
@@buildmorefarms1007 Kind of a late reply, but my 2020 is getting 28 mpg in the summer, with a/c on most of the time and mixed (mostly hwy) miles, around 28 mpg. Mind you, I'm light on the throttle.
I bought this car about a month ago (in Sweden) but FWD and M shifting. I just love it.... I haven't done any hardcore off roading, but it's really fun to drive....!!
You don't go offroading in a FWD car...
A few things I noticed in the video:
1) 2017 did not change from the 2016. I have 18" alloy wheels on my 2016 Cx-3 as well.
2) AWD system is PREDICTIVE rather than REACTIVE. Which means AWD usually kicks in BEFORE wheels start slipping, which is a huge advantage over the regular AWD systems. It's called I-Active AWD

He is wrong, the base model has 16" wheels.

Untrue. Cx3 Sport comes standard with 16" wheels. Anything larger costs more on the Sport trim.

Yes the cargo space is very limited but I don’t mind too much. Every time I look at my CX-3 Touring, I am happy about unloading my old CR-V for it.

Good job on the Mazda CX-3 video! I know you said this is a "carry-over" from your 2016 "just arrived" videos, but please don't forget to give US the works with the "2017 HONDA CRV TOURING" IN THE SNOW, ICE, UP AND DOWN HILLS, ETC. Always enjoy watching your videos. VERY, VERY INFORMATIVE.
In my opinion, the Hr-v and Crosstek are the more practical choices in this segment. The back half of the cx-3 is just not useable.
Finally Dave! An intro without the bouya! MUCH BETTER!

This really wasnt designed for this environment.
I really do like your videos. But why did you not mention the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, or the Subaru Crosstrek as competitors? I have the Outlander, it has 8.5 inches of ground clearance, and the Crosstrek has a smidgen more. Cargo space in the Outlander is a lot more, and the rear leg room is more. Plus the warranty for the Outlander is better than any of the ones you mentioned. You did an off-road of it as well and it did just fine. My previous Outlander (the original 2003) gave me nearly 250K miles trouble-free.
I've been at a standstill for a month, trying to decide between this and the mazda 3. AWD would be nice where I am but not a necessity. It's just me using it, and I never really have a bunch to haul. Both cars drive great. I feel the 2.5 in the mazda3 is obv quicker, but this cx3 seems to handle better. The one thing I need to know (here in western canada), is what the resale will be like on the cx3. I have no doubt the hrv resale will be solid. The mazda3 resale is predictable, but with the cx3 being launched here just a year ago, I have no idea how they will hold their value. Thoughts anyone? One day I wake up, it's the 3... the next day, it's a cx3... and back and forth and back and forth, etc, etc. I can't decide. Resale??????
Love the vidoes! I have the CX-3. Fuel economy isn't the best for me even in good weather, about 27-mpg on average mixed driving where my commute is about 70% highway and 30% city. I took it for about a 1500 mile trip, did get about 31-32mpg. Space wise, wish it had another 1-2 inches for backseat drivers. 100% agreed on the lack of space. Thinking about going up to a CX-5. My wife has that, it's about perfect too. Otherwise, love the car! It's my daily driver, comfortable at least for front seat drivers.

Insightful answer.
Crosstrek is a poor driving experience compared to the CX5. Mazda's handling is just better, as is the engine - almost 40-50hp more I think. If I had purely needs for AWD and clearance, Subaru is a good option, but it's not the better car overall. And last time I was in one (2015?) it was noisy, and I'm not a fan of the CVT.
Would you then say that because it can handle these conditions that it's capable on pavement with slushy snow?
how would this compare to the Subaru crosstrek?
They dont make a Cx-3 in manual.
Crosstrek has 2.6 inches more ground clearance for a total of 8.7 inches. It is very reliable and has similar power but the Subie can be had with a 5 speed manual.
On the road it kills the Subaru. Off road - the other way around. Crosstrek is more spacious, CX-3 has much better quality and more stylish interior.
